Enriching and thought provoking retreat program. Wonderful time with friends. Beautiful location. Nice rooms in spa building. Interesting vegan/vegetarian food choices. Close to Blowing Rock, NC which has more hikes and restaurants.

This was my first time at the Art of Living Retreat Center. I went by myself for Mari Andrew's 3-day retreat, "Creating from the Soul." The facilities were very nice and I really appreciated the vegetarian/vegan friendly meals. It was an extremely foggy weekend but the Blue Ridge Mountains are absolutely magical none the less. Mari Andrew's workshop was absolutely fantastic and everything I needed to get my creative juices flowing again and the Center was the absolute best location. Everyone there is so nice and you can just feel the warmth and positive energy while you're there. I cannot recommend this place enough and I can't wait to come back and try out their Ayurveda Wellness treatments!

I had so much fun at this retreat. I found the organization of the event to be efficient and well managed once on site. My only advice would be to reach out to participants at least a month in advance, then again two weeks before the event and not the week of. The shuttles were super helpful and the drive up the mountain was beautiful. The workshops were so good and the installations were clean. The food was a bit bland but other than that it was a beautiful experience.

Beautiful, peaceful setting in the mountains. What a view! Do not miss the sunrise. I found the vegetarian food to be exceptional, and they managed the group of us efficiently and with kindness as we moved through the buffet lines. (Safety protocol was in place, and they served the portions to us.) Having a shuttle available to us to get around the scenic grounds was appreciated and likely necessary for some of us to navigate the steeper paths at night. I loved my morning walks to the dining hall for breakfast, as I was able to see a family of deer most mornings. There are lots of nice activities from pottery (highly recommend) to yoga, meditation and wellness classes. The spa on the property is lovely. Though I didn’t have time to enjoy any treatments, those who did shared rave reviews with the rest of us. There is a pleasant ambiance throughout the property. I found the manager to be incredibly kind. He was present and available throughout our stay. The team at the front desk was very helpful and friendly. (For hot natured travelers, there are no rooms on the property with ac. It wasn’t a problem for me as I took my own fan and opened the windows. I can imagine it is glorious in the cooler months.) Some of the rooms have ceiling fans and box fans in the closets. Before you book a room, be aware that there is a disparity in accommodations and amenities. Some rooms offer the bare basics with thin mattresses, almost like a cot. Then, there are rooms that are like what you hope to find in a nice hotel. All in all, it depends on the experience you are seeking: I love a nice mattress in a pleasant, peaceful room, and I found it on this property. All I had to do to see the view was to look out of my window at the glorious mountain range with the twinkling stars at night and the colorful sunrise in the morning. My stay and the conference was transformative. I left with new friends and a fondness for this retreat center and the people who make is so special.

Prepare to read one superlative after the other, in praise of this beautiful retreat center. From the moment we arrived, even in the midst of the ongoing pandemic, we felt welcomed by the attentive staff, who went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. The views - spectacular The hotel rooms - perfect mix of comfort, space, quiet, clean The spa services - heavenly The food - exceptional. Can't overemphasize how delicious, nutritious, and varied the food was; each meal lovingly prepared, leaving us nourished and full, benefiting from each healthy dish. The atmosphere - a blend of spiritual, peaceful, easeful. For spiritual seekers as well as casual visitors, all will feel comfortable and welcomed, with no pressure to "be" in any particular way. The programs - considering how much pressure the hospitality industry is under at the moment, we were pleasantly surprised by how many optional activities there were, and we thoroughly enjoyed each offering. Thank you, Art of Living, for creating and maintaining this peaceful space. We look forward to returning again next year.
