Art of Living Retreat. Happiness Retreat
Property is Gorgeous. Views are spectacular. Sessions are well organized, informative and deeply memorable. Food is vegetarian. I am not a vegetarian. But, every meal was tasty, nutritious and very satisfying. Which was a nice surprise. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Rooms are very comfortable, well furnished and extremely clean. And, the best sunrise ever. This was everything I hoped it would be.

    5 Day cleanse is AMAZING!
I visited the retreat for a 5 day ayurvedic detox cleanse after checking out spas all over the country. There are plenty of places where you can spend a LOT of money and be pampered, but my interest was to improve my health and well being and was glad I chose AOL. AOL was also a fraction of the cost compared to most of the places I found while searching, and the only place I found with the added plus of Ayurvedic focus. My cleanse exceeded my expectations. Kim runs the program, she was attentive to our every need, she is kind, caring and supportive and went out of her way to ensure we had the everything we needed for a successful cleanse. This is not something I would do at home, but in the retreat environment and fresh air of the mountains I left feeling lighter in mind, body and spirit. The included massages were incredible, and yoga, mediation, chanting and ayurvedic health style, cooking and healthy eating classes were included as part the cleanse. All of the staff I encountered were friendly, pleasant, and helpful. The food we ate while cleansing was fresh and delicious but simple to support the cleanse. And I loved the loose dosha teas and clean water refills that were always available in the lobby outside the beautiful mediation room. The rooms at the spa were simple and clean, with a tv, small fridge, and private bathroom. Next time I may stay in a retreat room instead of hotel style, I did not turn on the TV once and don't think the other differences matter. There is no AC in the rooms. There is a ceiling fan in the room, and additional fans in the closet if needed, but the mountain air is cool and clean and I felt it best to sleep with full open windows(there are screens). The bed was comfy and I slept better than I usually do at home. There were also spa robes in the closet to don prior to massage. The last day we ate in the main dining room outside on the terrace with beautiful mountain views. I saw many comments in the reviews, and I am HAPPY they do not allow smoking on site. I found the food to be simple but fresh, and was actually surprised to see some cereal, coffee and other additional not so healthy items so there appears to be something for anyone on a vegetarian diet. I did not see anything that looked like it came from a can or was previously frozen. The is a wonderful place to be quiet and reflective, especially while cleansing. I felt it was a great bargain and wonderful experience, and would love to return with my family.
We are so grateful you chose us to cleanse with us, and are thrilled you had such a positive experience. We look forward to hosting you and your family! Stay well, and thank you for sharing your kind words!

    Yoga and Meditation Retreat
It was one of the best retreats I have been. The setting is beautiful, serene and peaceful. The main meditation hall is really nice for big groups and has floor heating and soft carpet. Loved the experience!!!
Thank you for sharing with everyone your experience! We hope to see you again soon!

I visited the Art of Living Retreat Center for a hospice program they were hosting. I stayed in a private retreat room and went alone. My room had a beautiful view and was very peaceful. The vegetarian food they provided daily was delicious! Everyone working at the center was kind and welcoming. I felt so at peace and safe the whole weekend. I will definitely be back.

I attended the happiness retreat with my daughter. We went in with no expectations and had a fantastic experience. From the very start, Michelle was wonderful directing us where to park and registration. She was also our assistant each time we practiced in Veda 1. Steven was super helpful in assisting us with registering for our extra servies. We met so many wonderful people on campus. I particularly enjoyed meeting the people in our class and getting a glimpse into their lives. The accommodations were comfortable in Bramaphutra and the trek up the mountain in the early morning for breakfast was a great way to jumpstart the day. The sunrise and the views of heavenly mountain are spectacular. The sessions for the breathing practices were a bit challenging at first, but "come what may" - we felt so centered and had such clarity after doing them. Charlie and Sunil Jain were excellent facilitators. It was an extra treat to attend a meditation with Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. We had a chance to experience making pottery with Judas. She is super talented and very patient. We can't wait to receive our pieces! We ended our weekend with the Ayurvedic warm oil massage treatments. Beji was very accommodating as we changed our minds a few times with the type of massage we wanted to experience. All in all, I would love to return in the fall when the leaves are turning! I'm sure it's even more beautiful!

Great little getaway vacation specifically for vegans. Food was on point for every meal. It was nice to not have to think about food as to focus on the relaxation. Gay friendly and very accommodating. I have never done yoga or meditation, now I have and will continue to do so! I learned a lot and we just did the R&R for a few days. Will definitely be back. Everything is very scripted and roles are clearly filled by the correct people.

Loved the mother daughter weekend R&R all inclusive retreat. We enjoyed yoga, meditation, massages and short hikes. Food was good. Room was nice and clean but a little warm (no AC). Only complaint is the yoga equipment room smelled bad, like dirty socks. Yoga mats, pillows and seat backs were noticeably dirty and no one wiped them down after use. It was a major turn off and hard to overcome with meditation but we tried. I came home with Covid.

I really wanted to love this place, and at first glance, I did, but as time went on it was just okay. The hotel buildinf felt like a college dorm, with nicer rooms. Everything was clean and the bed was comfortable. It was cool enough with the windows open to not miss the A/C. The vegan food was good but became repetitive by lunch on day 2. The breathwork was the best part of the entire weekend. Other than that, I did not learn anything earth shattering about attaining happiness. It was basically what you read or experience in any self help book or seminar. The classes were slow and drawn out, as if to fill up the weekend. It was difficult for some people to sit on the floor the entire class, when it was so long. I felt like I was always anticipating something amazing to occur, that never happened. The spa was completely booked, when I was finally able to get someone on the phone 1 week prior to our weekend. I had called, emailed without response and chatted online earlier and was told to call back when they opened on Wednesday. We couldn't schedule any treatements during our long mid day break. I also did not hear anyone from our program mentioning going to the spa. We were told that on Sunday we would be learning the final piece of the meditation and breathing skills, that we had been working on. In reality, we just repeated the exact skills again and then it started to feel like a sales presentation to help grow the organization. At 1pm it literally just ended. It was an awkwardness of everyone in the room looking around for instruction and then saying goodbye and walking out. It's difficult to fully explain the problem, but the best I can say is that it felt disorganized or not well planned. The grounds are peaceful and beautiful. It was a nice escape from busy life for a weekend, but I don't think I would spend the money to do it again.

Attended a 3-day silence & meditation retreat. Expectations fulfilled and zero disappointment. Great instructors during our sessions, and the vegetarian food was really standout. Scenery is spectacular, given the location, and the hiking trails are lovely.
