I didn't expect much of Smoketree Lodge, and it gave me exactly what I expected. This is a past-its-prime '70's era lodge with grubby edges that seems to be barely squeaking by. My room was shabby around the edges (peeling wallpaper, discolored tub, wire hangers) and outdated, but satisfactorily clean. The entire lodge felt like it desperately needed new carpeting... More

Our studio room was very disappointing because it was soooo small and the bed was uncomfortable. The indoor hot tub and pool area were enjoyable. Be sure to drive your car down to that level as there are way too many stairs to get there and then climb back up. Great view of Grandfather Mountain from the pool area. Internet/wifi... More

We stayed here as part of a timeshare exchange and is without a doubt the worst exchange we have ever had in the US. The whole place is very dated and is in need of updating and decorating. The kitchen units would have looked old even in the 1960's. The air conditioning units are so noisy you could never sleep... More

Nothing special , but the views are nice and the price was fair. Its one of those places that beats the chains for the price and you do not have to deal with a lot of red tape. I would stay here more often than other places because it is near a lot of area attraction you can enjoy and... More

Smells like smoke, damp carpets, old outdated rooms, juts shabby and badly maintained. The best thing I can say is it is cheap. They have no non smoking rooms. They have a great room, lodge area with several old video games, mostly broken. There are board games and books, so it is probably the best place to curl up. Also... More

Lots to see and do in the High Country. We know of three Breweries and several wineries. We have a great view of Grandfather Mountain. There are places to mine for gems, zipligning, rafting, Blowing Rock is a 30 min. drive. The pool at Smoke Tree is indoors.

Had a wonderful, relaxing time. Lovely logdge and great price. I would go again if I were ever in the area again. I was there to visit family and this was a nice affordable place to stay instead of staying in a guest room at the family's house.

We have stayed here a couple of different times. You really get the feel of staying in a cabin in the woods as they have a large central sitting area with fireplace, pool tables and television. Everyone just sits on couches and chairs and relaxes with WiFi or goes outside on the balcony to enjoy nature. We have visited here... More

I've been staying at the Smoketree Lodge with my daughter for years. It is very inexpensive, has lots of amenities, but is NOT the Hilton in terms of finishes. It really reminds me of a summer camp. It's creaky and quirky, but has lots of perks like an indoor pool and hot tub, a HUGE game area with a pool... More

The rooms were clean and we appreciated the amenities. THe staff was pleasant but the area was a bit dated. The gift shop has a nice variety and we were surprised how much we appreciated the "small stuff". THe value is a deal. I have allergies and they did a good job catering to my allergies.
