Julian Price was a great answer to our need for a quick getaway and a bit of solitude. Staff was amazingly friendly and accommodating. Campground is fairly minimalist; they didn't even have firewood for sale. 😀. The thick rhododendron and trees make for a lush environment. There is only one loop fir camping along the lake itself so next time... More

To be in such a golden location, Julian Price Campground was a huge disappointment. A) The tent pads are entirely too small. B) The bathrooms were absolutely atrocious - I'm not going to elaborate, but if you have to do anything other than hover to pee, you're going to be disgusted. I'd much rather poop in a hole in the... After a long day on the blue ridge parkway we looked forward to a peaceful night camping. We found the campground nearly deserted which felt rather strange on the 4th of July. It is clear why people do not stay here. The sites are small, muddy and extremely graded. There is nowhere in the near vicinity to get fire wood.... More

Don't be fooled by the pictures of the waterfront sites. There are only a few of them. That said the campground was pretty big. I would say maybe a third of the sites were so small or overgrown that they weren't able to be used unless maybe you drive a motorcycle and bring a hammock. The sites were rough. Bathrooms... More

I have camped at Julian Price Park for over 10 years. I use to tell family and friends how nice the facilities and Rangers were. They use to hold programs about nature and would come by and ask if we needed anything. Sadly, that is not the case anymore. It's more like the Wild West. You now check yourself in... More

I just needed a cheap place to sleep before going water tubing the next day and the back of my Jeep in this campground was as comfortable as could be. Just don't leave food outside for the Bears. Paying was straightforward at the ranger station. There were plenty of spots on the Wednesday I was there, but was told reservations... More

Clean and we'll kept. Variety of sites for tents and RVs. Some loops right on the lake. Ten minutes from Grandfather Mountain, 30 min to Boone. Leaves were gorgeous. We did not have any hook ups. Dump station and water easy in/out.

Our first camping adventure in the U.S. having lived here for 7 years we finally plucked up the courage and had two nights at Julian Price. It was great, no showers, lots of rain, fantastic hiking from the site and just being outdoors. Limited space to 'play' with balls, frisbee etc, but we still managed to have loads of fun.... More

Having primitive camped with no amenities for miles, this was a pretty nice campground. Loop A was crowded but a couple spots were available lake shore, I would've had to share a driveway with the next campsite. I chose to camp across the campground road in a more private site. I chose this site to keep from disturbing my neighbors.... More

Camping in the High Country! I love it! but this campground, like most federal campgrounds along the BRParkway, suffers from severe neglect. Erosion is rampant, and most tent pads flood when it rains since they are not elevated anymore. Our picnic table was covered with moss and had a chunk of concrete out, and our firepit was literally FULL of... More
