Doug & Jenny Bowman, the innkeepers, are genuine, caring, accomodating hosts. The inn has been their home for many years, and it shows. They truly care for each guest, and always make you feel at home. The food is amazing, whether it's breakfast or dinner. We visit at least twice per year because we love the area, and for the last 22 years, we've stayed at the Red Rocker. The rooms are comfortable, and peaceful. No TV's except in the den help to make sure guests get to know each other. And relaxing in the red rockers on the front porch is a great way to spend an evening, any time of year! We will always come back to the Red Rocker Inn!!
We always look forward to any chance to get away to Black Mountain, Asheville, & the Red Rocker Inn. We have been there so many times that it just feels like home but without the cooking & making our bed. During this Covid-19 pandemic, we felt this would be the safest place to travel to & not be worried. Doug & Jenny with their wonderful staff took good care of us with all their safe procedures in place at the Inn. The food was as exceptional as it always is with their resident chef who always exceeds all our expectations. The weather was wonderful, we were well taken care of & met some really nice people to chat with while rocking in the rockers on the front porch.
A wonderful breakfast comes with the room. It's a quaint inn with quality comfortable rooms. They also serve an amazing supper. The Red Rocker Inn is the best place to stay in Black Mountain. Anytime I visit this area this would be my pick.
We always stay at the Red Rocker Inn when visiting family in Black Mountain. Great location, quiet and beautiful. I love eating breakfast, which exceeds all expectations, next to the fireplace. Owners and staff are wonderful and the Appalachian room is so comfortable. Plus the bakery next door is fantastic!
I took my wife to the Red Rocker Inn for a Valentine’s and birthday celebration. We stayed in the Elizabeth’s Attic Room. The room was very nice with a fireplace in the room with a two person soaking tub and large separate shower in the bathroom. I made reservations for the Valentine’s dinner and the food was exceptional. The breakfast buffet that morning was not your normal continental breakfast it was very good. The morning after Valentine’s Day the breakfast was cooked to order which was a nice surprise. The owners hospitality was top notch. We highly recommend staying at the Red Rocker Inn.
Picked Red Rocker Inn restaurant over several other choices, for a birthday dinner. Drove 2 hours because we had been there a couple other times and enjoyed wonderful dinners, fantastic filet mignon.!! The website states filet mignon on the menu as an entree, and was THE REASON we chose to go there for dinner. . When we got there however, they did not have the filet mignon as the website stated. Was very disappointed! Also, no brussel sprouts (also usually on menu) , no asparagus. Only thing green, was greenbeans. Ended up ordering the grilled salmon, which was just ok, served with rice and what was called "roasted root veggies", that was sweet potatoes, so had rice AND potatoes as sides!!
My two daughters and I stayed here over the week between Christmas Day and New Years Eve and we had a fantastic and relaxing stay. Doug and Jenny and their staff were kind and accommodating. We stayed in the Appalachian room and it was cozy and enough room for us and all of our things. The beds are so comfortable and the towels are cushy. The breakfast every morning is wonderful and my girls had no problem getting up to get downstairs for it! The Inn is in a great location. While there we visited the Blue Ridge Parkway, Asheville, went snowtubing and saw the Winter Lights at the North Carolina Arboretum, all within a short driving distance. We will definitely choose to stay with them again when we go back up.
We happened upon the Red Rocker while looking for a breakfast spot. The owner welcomed us in and we had an amazing breakfast!! The French toast was amazing!!! We will definitely be back. We do recommend having reservations.
We have been staying at the Red Rocker for many years. We are pleased to find that the experience is what we always expected; great food, a restful stay and quality amenities. Recently we found that the owners were away for a family funeral. The well trained staff did not drop the ball in any way. It was as it had always been. We recommend the Red Rocker and a visit to the quaint and beautiful town of Black Mtn.
We spent three restful nights at the Red Rocker Inn in mid-November 2021. This was our second stay at the Inn, and it was as enjoyable as our first. We stayed in the Inn's "Garrett" room, a third floor bedroom with en suite bath and a king bed. The room includes a soft, chifferobe, dressing table, gas fireplace, and two skylights. The bathroom includes a tub and a separate enclosed shower. There are no TVs in the Red Rocker Inn's guest rooms, a thankful respite in these days. There is excellent wifi available throughout the Inn. The days were warm and we enjoyed sitting in rocking chairs (red ones, of course) on the front porch. The included breakfast was plentiful and included the best, crispiest bacon I've found. We enjoyed the apple butter and granola and took home some of each of the Inn's product. We ate supper in the Inn's restaurant twice. The portions were generous and the food was prepared to perfection. Black Mountain is a walking town, and we parked our car at arrival and walked from the Inn to town for lunch, shopping, and for one evening meal. Our stay at the Red Rocker Inn was quiet, uneventful, and exactly what we needed to relax for awhile. We'll be back.…
