We had a wonderful stay at the Monte Vista Hotel in Black Mountain. I've traveled to Black Mountain several times, and I know it's a local favorite. The inside of the hotel is warm and inviting, and it was great to be off the road. Our room was cozy and beautifully furnished, and our bed was comfy. We slept really... More

We did not stay at the Hotel, but we did have Thanksgiving dinner there. Very nice dinner, well prepared and presented. Our waiter was friendly and enjoyed talking with him. the dining areas were nice. It was a pleasant place to celebrate Thanksgiving dinner when you are away from home. Monte Vista Hotel is located in Black Mountain, and we... More

We were appalled at how spare the room was: no towel racks, one picture on wall, walls extremely thin, no TV, no lamps within reach of bed, no clock. We heard every footfall above and every word uttered in the hallway. The bed squeaked at every twitch. We were expected to request a blow dryer and iron from front desk.... More

We go to Asheville, Black Mountain, and Montreat often, and this is now our go-to place to stay. We showed up earlier than anticipated, but our room was ready and waiting. The staff was super helpful from the moment we walked in the door, offering to take our bags up. And after a cold, windy weekend, the steaming, high-pressure shower... More

The room was very charming and cozy and the bed was comfortable. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the highlights of Black Mountain and we were able to check out the shops (cute crafts, wine stores, outdoor supplies, etc) and restaurants that were only a few blocks away. We had breakfast at the hotel both mornings we were... More

Arrived at about 4pm for an overnight stay (reserved the night before online). Nobody in the lobby to greet us. We had to ask and finally a clerk came from the bar area to check us in and show us to our room on the second floor. No elevator, not for the faint of heart (and there are 3 floors!).... More

I spent the weekend with my girlfriend at the Monte Vista a couple weeks ago and it was perfect! First off, the restaurant downstairs had an amazing chef and the tuna steak I ordered was the best I've ever had. Also, the hotel is right downtown, so you can walk into town with all kinds of neat places to check... More

Anticipated a quaint, cozy hotel with warm mountain comfort. The 1st room we were shown was more like a jail cell! iron bed, no chairs or TV to relax, when we requested a different room we were advised by a snippy condescending front desk clerk the rooms in Ashville would be twice the price and that other hotels in the... Hi Lorraine, We are sorry you were disappointed with your stay. We do our best to provide an accurate and honest portrayal of our amenities and property through our website and online booking partners. My husband and I stayed for 2 nights while visiting Biltmore Estate. Conveniently located outside Ashville in a quaint mountain village. If you go make sure you stay in main house, not annex and are also able to handle climbing stairs. Annex rooms are tiny and not at all cozy nor comfortable..also wing was partially below ground with tiny narrow... More

We found this little gem on the internet. We wanted to stay somewhere for our anniversary that wasn't the run-of-the-mill hotel or a super pricey b&b. We absolutely loved the atmosphere. Walking up the front porch as people sat in rocking chairs enjoying a cup of coffee and into front door of the hotel was so inviting. The people were... More
