Detailed Reviews

My wife and I wanted to visit Bath NC because of it's historical significance. It's pretty much a one-light sort of town. We stayed two nights at this small motel. It was clean and comfortable. And it is situated right on the water so it you like to fish, this place is perfect. The view off the back veranda is beautiful, peaceful and relaxing. A decent restaurant with pizza and typical "bar-food" is just across the road. I would come here again if I ever return to Bath, NC. There is no office to check-in. The housekeeping staff had two little girls with her. There is a large private residence right next to the property that at first glance you think it is part of the motel but it is not.

5 mile waterfront view from your porch, a unique location steps away from the water - tons of activities for all ages (sailing, fishing, watersports) located in historic Bath, NC.
Certianly not 5 star accomadations, however, this is a great out of the way quite place on the water - we enjoyed the sun sets, and cooking out under the pavilion.
There is a long dock - with mostly sailboats (not much traffic at the marina, as there is no boat ramp, or fuel).
I would reccomend this as a fun family, or couple get away for those interested in outdoor activities, the town is small, but has some very unique history, and great views.

Really enjoyed our stay here. It is not actually a B&B; each room has a kitchenette. Ours had a small refrigerator, microwave, and cooktop, also a toaster and coffeemaker. Our room opened out into a screened in porch where we had wonderful views of the river. The rooms look out toward the south, so that the sunrise and sunset were both beautiful and you never had sun in your eyes. The rooms are certainly not deluxe but very clean and comfortable, and the people are very friendly.

I conducted the business of registering for this stay all online and by phone. The young man on the other end of the line was very helpful. The setting is lovely and relatively quiet. There has been some attempt at renovating this old motel, but it falls a little short. Our biggest issue was that it took about 15 minutes to get hot water out of the shower, and even then it was barely warm. A hot shower, especially in mid-winter, is a must.

We stayed in Bath (oldest town in NC) just before Thanksgiving after Hurricane Sandy left us without other options to catch a ferry to Ocracoke Island. This remote town is a hidden gem and we loved its historic sites and timeless beauty. We called in advance to reserve the room. We arrived at 3:30 p.m. as scheduled. Eventually, one of the owners arrived with kids in tow. She sent us to a room that was really filthy. It looked like a group of hunters had camped for a few days and it stank of smoke, though it was supposed to be "no smoking." When I returned the key and told her it was not clean, she sent me to another room across the hall. It was clean-er, but very run down and not kept well. My husband actually slept in his clothes on top of the bedspread that night - a first for him. The heater was not designed to heat the room, had no control knob and struggled in the colder than usual weather. The bathroom shower placement under the eaves made a shower a painful experience for anyone over 5 ft. tall. The toilet was also tightly placed between the sink and tub. There were nice soaps and shampoos, go figure! There was a nice view over the river from the deck and the grounds are probably really nice in warmer weather. But everything cried out for a good scrub down, a lot of repair. I can't recommend this place, except if you were staying on your own boat tied up to their wharf.

Response from bathsail, Manager at Bath Harbor Marina and Motel
Responded Mar 7, 2013
We have now done a extensive renovation For the motel . We are now going into year 17 . Our larger rooms have screened ares and are worth spending the additional money. If you enjoy the water and harbor views you will be happy with your stay.

It should be noted, first and foremost, that you shouldn't be expecting four-star service at a place as small as the Bath Harbor Marina and Motel. If you are looking, however, for a decent night's sleep in a place that's surrounded by beautiful scenery at an affordable cost, this is a good choice. The rooms, while not the most glamorously arranged, are comfortable--though not the most updated in terms of furnishings or aesthetics. Paul, though, is quick to assist if you have a question or a need. And you can't beat the location if you're wanting to spend some time in Bath. For us, we found everything to be in walking distance-- both restaurants and all historical sights are easily in your reach. Again, this place is by no means perfect, but for a quick and expensive getaway, it is quite suitable.

Cannot say enough good things about Bath Harbor Marina. It is a great place to stay. The management is responsive and very personable. We stayed there a weekend recently, had a great view and visit there. Bath is a lovely town and the Marina is within walking distance to all the historic sights and waterfront partk. We have, in the past, kept a sailboat at that marina and can say, without a doubt, that the owners absolutely know what to do for storm protection and attention. If you like a breeze to keep mosquitoes away and delightful sunsets, this is a place to go!

If you're ever in Bath and looking for a place to stay, do yourself a service and stay here. Paul and is family are so welcoming it makes you feel like you are staying in their personal home. Every room has its own feel and personality and is well kept. The waterfront view is worth the price alone. It's quiet here so if you want to rest, relax, or write this is the place to come. Did I mention this place is steps away from the water?! This place is great for families or couples looking to explore the historic site of Bath, NC. Thanks to the staff for making this trip to Bath, NC amazing!

For this trip I specifically sought out accommodations that are locally-run and full of character & charm. Bath Harbor motel did not disappoint. If you are looking for commercial accommodations and service you won't find it here; however you will find friendly owners & rustic charm. We enjoyed the screened in porch over looking the water, it was especially lovely at sunset. The room was sufficient and clean and suited us just fine for the night.

The family is so friendly and welcoming! The view is amazing! Yes, the motel is small and simple but it’s so cozy and I absolutely love it! You can kayak, paddle board, swim, wakeboard, etc. This is my favorite place/motel ever! I extremely recommend. It’s very family and pet friendly. The view is so beautiful too. To all the the people wrtiting a bad review, just suck it up and deal with it. It’s not the end of the world if there is a tiny spot on the bathroom floor or whatever. We are so blessed to be able to go to this place and enjoy every thing it has there! If you have never been to Bath or Bath Harbor Marina and Motel, you are seriously missing out!!!!!

James , sorry for the slow response , when you stay you can put your boat next to the motel , 15 ft from the water , or we can put it in a marina slip , no charge , you can also fish from the dock
We do allow peta as long as they do not go on the furniture. All rooms have hardwood floors
Tv and internet , but better yet is the 5 mile waterfront view of the harbor!
