My family and I have been at MHI for a week and we’ve had a great experience. The cleanliness of the Inn is excellent and the staff is very accommodating/ helpful. The benefits of staying here , in my opinion are :coffee and breakfast are prepared for you each morning , dirty linens are replaced as needed with fresh ones ,fresh popcorn is ready after a day in the sun so you can wind down with a movie , and there are board games , ping pong , corn hole etc for family fun when you’re not out and about .
We had a wonderful stay at the Marsh Harbour Inn on Bald Head Island. Our suite had a wonderful porch that faced the harbor and caught the gorgeous sunsets every evening. We enjoyed the breakfast each morning and tooling around the island in our golf cart. There is always something to do and see around the island. The harbor is interesting and we could walk to the beach, shops, and the restaurants. We enjoyed visiting a different beach each day and the weather was warm for November. We saw deer, dolphins, and many types of birds. The pace is slow. We visited the market for wine and snacks, and caught a "Howl at the Moon" while we were there. All in all a relaxing and interesting vacation .
We stayed in the top floor Pinnacle Suite-view of harbor is magnificent. Well-appointed beachy furnishings, comfortable living room, and lovely outdoor porch overlooking harbor made for a wonderful visit on this special island. It’s a walkable location so you really don’t need a tram if you can roll your suitcase, especially since the inn provides a free golf cart and really nice bikes (loved the easy-to-ride walk-through bike!). Jules restaurant with a bar is a short stroll away. I noticed high quality towels and paper products. While the rooms are all different, Marsh Harbor offers plenty of cozy places for guests to gather inside and out. The breakfast had wonderful coffee and teas; the food is more like an entry-level chain hotel. This is great option for a several day stay.…
The Marsh Harbour Inn has become my home away from home, my get away, my stress relief from this crazy world we are living in. It and Bald Head Island are an experience like no other I’ve ever encountered in my half a century. The tranquility and peace simply surround you here. It’s an amazing, rejuvenating, spiritual place. And I must say the absolute best massage I’ve ever had was on the island at Island Retreat Spa and Salon! It only takes minutes to get there from the inn and I love the fact that there are no vehicles on the island (except for public safety and workers). Golf cart leisure only! The passenger ferry ride over to the island always makes me feel like I am going back in time to a simpler life. The Baldhead Woods Maritime Forest, all the historic things to see on the island, and seeing the ships come down the Cape Fear River are intriguing. And, hey, sea turtles mate!…
What's not to love? The Inn is perfectly located on the harbor marina with wonderful views of the Cape Fear river, the ocean, and the marsh. It is so much fun to watch the boats coming and going in the marina, the sailboats sailing on the river, and the gigantic container ships slowly making their way to or from Wilmington. Several restaurants, one of three beaches, and Old Baldy Lighthouse are just a short stroll away. The staff is welcoming, friendly, and helpful. The included breakfast is delicious every morning. We have stayed in several different suites and rooms and loved them all. They all offer their own unique charm. We sleep well and wake up ready to explore. One of our favorite things is the free golf cart! The island has beautiful beaches, shopping, nature trails, marshes teaming with wildlife and so much more. Your will not regret this adventure and will want to return again and again.…
We were so disappointed with our room (room 20, Shoals Retreat) that we cut our trip short and did not stay our second night. What the description of the room does NOT tell you is that the bathroom is accessible only through the master bedroom; the hallway is accessible only through the bunk bed room, and the "special area for your convenience that offers a small refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker complete with starters of delicious coffee and gourmet teas" is in the bunk bed room. This set up is okay for parents with two small children, but it does not work well for three adults who are reluctant to disturb sleeping adults or who would like some modest privacy. But what made the room totally unusable for us is that bunk beds are too uncomfortable for a night's rest. They are small, rickety, cheap; there are no springs, just some board slats; and the "mattress" is just a thin pad. The light located next to the bed apparently has been broken for years. The master room is located in a first floor corner with windows running on two sides. The porch and sitting area outside means you have strangers looking in--unless you pull all of the shades. While the bunk beds can easily be replaced, if the owners cared, the website description needs a serious overhaul to make clear that this room is not suitable for more than two adults.…
I stayed at the Marsh Harbour Inn on Bald Head Island, NC, for three nights (3/31/22-4/3/22) .Based upon the cost, I expected luxury accommodations. I reserved two units for my family of six. The first unit (Yacht Master) was spacious and beautiful with everything you could hope for. It was up two steep flights of stairs and there is no elevator. The second unit (Shoals Retreat) was on the first floor with access to the front porch. Unfortunately , the pictures and description were misleading. We walked into one small room with a bunk bed that connected to a "Master" and an adjacent bathroom. The Master was surrounded by windows covered with flimsy, opaque blinds that should have been blackout shades because bright lights from the porch shone in on the bed, making it impossible to sleep. When I complained to the 'front desk person,' there was no attempt to assist or follow up with me. I was unable to sleep through the night during the entire stay (the sound of footsteps at 2:00am from the floor above our unit was also a distraction). My daughter was very uncomfortable in the room with the two bunk beds - she did not like having to walk through the Master to access the bathroom. There was no seating in the bunk bed room (The Master had two chairs). There was no one working at the front desk when I checked out so I just left the keys on the desk.…
Location is great, you get a golf cart with your stay. Breakfast every morning is delicious. Front porches for sitting. Den nice to sit and play games. Bed comfy. Room equipped with mini fridge and coffee pot. Our room had a outdoor balcony to sit and enjoy. Very clean and well kept. You felt like you were staying at someone’s home, very cozy and accommodating. Love the little sitting areas throughout the inn for reading or relaxing. Highly recommend!
The Marsh Harbour Inn is full of charm and warmth, even in the winter months. We fully enjoy the breakfast spread every morning, and the Innkeeper is so accommodating. The views of the marina and the ocean are breathtaking; the sunsets are amazing! Island restaurants and the Old Baldy lighthouse are within easy walking distance. If you prefer to hop on a bike, they're parked out front and available for guest use. One golf cart comes with each unit, so exploring this peaceful island is no problem.
The Marsh Harbour Inn is a great additional to all things wonderful about Bald Head Island. I just completed a 10 day stay at the Inn and enjoyed the peaceful ambiance of the island in Winter. I was able to work remotely (excellent wifi) and enjoy the comfort of the Inn, the great breakfast provided, and my cozy room. If you can book a room with a view its an added bonus. Situated on the Harbour, there is always someithing interesting going on; boats coming in and out of the harbor, the ferry arrival and departure, and the enormous tankers out in the channel. Within walking distance of restaurants, Old Baldy, and beach accesses, the Inn becomes a practical home base. Rentals come with a reliable golf cart to explore the rest of the island and travel to the market to pick up dinner, snacks, and beverages. Some of the larger suites have kitchens, so preparing your own meals is an option. I understand Fall is also great on the island. I certainly will return to the Inn in September of 2022.…
