We spent 3 nights at the Thompson house during presidents week 2021. the room was very spacious and clean. Check in and check out were efficient and the staff was helpful and polite. They provide complementary hot drinks for breakfast. There is no cleaning during your visit due to Covid19, but anything needed is provided by the staff. over all a great experience, quite atmosphere and the view of mountain and the snow if amazing during the winter time. they also provide shovels and brooms for heavy snow needs.
This was our first stay in Windham and I believe we made the right choice in staying at this inn. The location is lovely. It is just a few minutes away from Windham Mountain which makes it perfect for skiing. We stayed in a junior suite which was huge, with two beds and pull out couch, coffee table, armchairs, desk, a walk in closet, television, Wi-Fi service, refrigerator, microwave, large bathroom, everything you could need. The best part was a large private balcony with a wonderful view of the mountains and grounds. Most importantly, in this time of COVID, the room was spotless and we felt very safe.
Our hiking club stayed at here five years ago, and while we like to try new areas and rarely return to the same accommodation, we came back to the Thompson House this August by popular demand of our members. We weren't disappointed. The owners have multiple precautions in place so that all of us felt safe in this era of Covid, all without sacrificing the charm and hospitality that we experienced before. The rooms were very comfortable, the grounds were inviting, the food was great, and most important the owners and staff were warm, welcoming and went out of their way to make us feel at home. I simply cannot say enough positive things about this place!
We just recently returned from a very enjoyable stay at the Thompson House resort in the northern Catskills. Our family has been going there for 23 years and it's like coming home. During this time of Covid, we were concerned about safety issues, but there was nothing to worry about since the owners have many safety measures in place. We felt comfortable and as safe as one can be at these times. The resort is such a beautiful property and the pool is large and just great. The owners of the Thompson House are the wonderful Goettsche family and their staff is very friendly & first rate. This year is a big milestone since it is the 140th season for the resort. Our room in Evergreen 2 was very spacious and has a walk-in closet, lots of draw space, & a sitting area. There is also an amazing view of the mountains from the balcony. There are lots of fun things to do on the premises, such as: mini golf, shuffleboard, playground for the kids, tennis, badminton, bocce, and more & there is a lovely nature walk by the mountain stream that runs through the property. For those who love golf, there is a magnificent golf course next to the resort. There is also: horseback riding, hiking trails, mountain biking trails, and scenic waterfalls nearby. The town center of Windham is close to the resort. It is charming and has very nice shops. There are also interesting day trips and side trips that can be taken from the Thompson House to places, such as, Cooperstown, Howe Caverns, and FDR's house at Hyde Park. Check availability online. We highly recommend the resort & the meal plan. The food is delicious and plentiful. Rooms have WiFi. Room rates are reasonable. It's a perfect place for families & many have reunions there. The TH is also open for fall foliage & ski seasons.…
As we readied ourselves for the annual family vacation, safety was paramount on our minds and on the minds of everyone else. So we can say with gratitude that The Thompson House struck the perfect balance between keeping us safe while affording us the overall hospitality to which we have become accustomed. Full disclosure - this was my 59th summer in a row at The Thompson House, so I am hardly a "newbie." As always, the food was great, the weather was good, the pool was superb, and old friends were greeted with warmth. I tip my hat to Eric, Debbie, Kurt and Dasha for going the extra mile this year. I know it wasn't easy, but after all, the family has been doing it for 140 years. They are pros!
