My wife and I just returned from a 1 night stay at Albergo Allegria. The only thing that we regret was not staying longer. We stayed here 17 years ago when we were dating and decided to return. It is still owned and operated by the same Family. We checked in early and stayed in room Eighteen. Very spacious and well maintained with a huge bathroom and jet tub. There is also a fireplace. The bed was huge and extremely comfortable. Very romantic. Nice sitting area outside overlooking the garden and mountains. The area is great with lots to do. Beautiful hiking and biking trails. There is a beautiful nature walk trail about 200 feet from Allegria. It was great. Almost all of the restaurants in Windham are open. There are also good restaurants open in nearby Tannersville. Masks are required in stores. Social distancing is being enforced and it is extremely effective. But everyone is doing their part and being cordial and polite in respecting each other’s space. People here are kind to each other. And they are very friendly. We sat out at night around the fire pit and got to meet and chat with the other guests. People came from all over. The owner Leslie had a great talk with us. It was a lot of fun and very relaxing. Breakfast was incredible. You place your order the night before and let the innkeeper the time that you would like to eat. We ate outside. The food was unbelievable. We did not need lunch. Again, social distancing was observed and we felt extremely comfortable. But the food was delist. It was great to get up and go. This was a last minute trip for us. Honestly after all that is going on it was great to get away. Allegria was the perfect escape. Both of us woke up in the morning saying that we had not slept that good in months. The rooms are extremely clean and spotless. We are returning for a longer stay next month. Mariana and Leslie are hands on owners who make sure that your stay is as relaxing, safe and comfortable as possible. Get up and go !

Thank you for your kind remarks and glowing review! I am thrilled you enjoyed every aspect of your stay and got to reconnect with each other, and our beautiful area. I am so pleased you enjoyed a healthy, and delicious breakfast that fueled you through to dinner. An evening camp fire is always delightful and it's great that you got to converse with others. A shout-out for our clean, safe, and comfortable approach is likewise appreciated. We are looking forward to your return visit and thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve you again!

Hotel's Favorite
My wife and I have stayed here twice in the past couple months and we absolutely adore this jewel in the Catskills. Leslie, Marianna, and their son are wonderful hosts and very inviting. They pay extra attention to the safety of their guests and ensure a pristine, clean environment. The rooms are immaculate, and the property itself is delightful. Many have commented on how scrumptious the breakfast menus items are, and we echo those positive comments. It is a highlight of the stay. Whether you are looking to sip a glass of wine at sunset, take a nature walk through the Windham Path, or explore some amazing waterfalls, mark this as the place to stay in the area! We can’t wait to go back. : )

I am so glad that I chose to stay at Albergo Allegria during the 2nd week of June. After being cooped up/working from home since March, a solo motorcycle trip in the Catskills and 4 nights at "The Inn of Happiness" was truly a Godsend. Mariana and Leslie could not make you feel more at home - very friendly people and truly accommodating. My room was very clean, comfortable and honestly; comforting. As a result, every morning I awoke feeling refreshed and more well rested than I have in a long time. Breakfast........admittedly, I'm a foodie. The care and preparation that goes into each meal is apparent in every bite. I, like many, tend to rush breakfast to get on with the day. Here, I found myself eating as slowly as I could so I could relish the experience of the flavors in each bite. If staying in the Catskills, stay at Albergo Allegria - you'll be thankful that you did !

John, it was truly our pleasure to spend time with you during your stay! Thank you for your highly rated review and kind words. Our morning chats, and Leslie's evening fire pit conversations, were as much of a blessing to us as to you. It is always wonderful meeting considerate people like yourself. I find happiness in serving other foodies; people who recognize and appreciate the effort and flavor of a meal well-prepared. The next time you need that getaway, we'll be here to welcome you back to the "Inn of Happiness."

My wife and I visited Albergo last week to celebrate our anniversary. I called ahead of time to ask if there were any special things they offered for couples celebrating a special day. I was pleasantly surprised to find that there were many homemade baking options available for special requests. When we arrived we were greeted by the most friendly and welcoming staff I have experienced. They prepared a beautiful homemade chocolate cake with chocolate ganache and decorationed it flawlessly. I travel extensively for work and stay in many hotels and resorts for about half of the year and this was by far the best experience I've had in a very long time. This is a family run business owned and operated by the sweetest second generation couple who haven't skipped a beat from the original owners. We stayed there many years ago when the parents were running the business and now its run by their daughter and her husband. What an incredible family legacy they have in this beautiful gem of the catskill mountains. If you are looking for an incredible experience to get away from it all and really feel like you are part of the family I highly recommend staying here. Oh and the breakfast was also incredible.

I am so thankful that we were able to offer the perfect anniversary weekend! Thank you for taking the time to post about your experience, and the details that meant so much to you both. For you to recognize my family legacy and comment how my husband and I have "filled the shoes" of my fantastic parents, means the world to us:-) I often say that my parents are 'still my training wheels' and they are very much a big part of why I do what I do... from the food, to the hospitality. I've learned (and continue to learn) from the BEST! The next time you're able to sneak away, we would be honored for you to choose Albergo Allegria as your gem in the Catskill Mountains.

With the lockdown going on, I had a terrific deal for a beautiful two-room suite with a private porch; whirlpool bathtub; Great bed (there was also a super comfortable trundle bed I didn't need). The inn is late Victorian gingerbread, really lovely, on pretty, spacious grounds right next to a small river. The innkeepers were really delightful: courteous, prompt, and fun to talk to. Breakfast is prepared by the lady of the household, Marianna: eggs with cheese, delicious bacon, toast, ample coffee. They observe all the safety precautions without making it onerous: apart from being spaced well apart, you don't feel the constraints. (They are attentive to disinfecting everything, and leave the rooms unoccupied for 2 days before thoroughly cleaning them.) If you are longing for a getaway that is peaceful and gorgeous, I couldn't recommend them more highly. They even let me check out late, since they're not renting the rooms out back-to-back. I almost thought of not posting the review: I want to be able to go back and want to be sure to get a room! but I also want them to stay in business. Lovely folks.

Thank you for your 5 -star review! Getting away in these times can be difficult; there are uncertainties in visiting a hotel that you "just found" online. Our family delights in the gift of hospitality, it is wonderful to read that you appreciated our safe, but non-constricting approach. We were so honored that you shared your thoughts and will do our best to make sure you always have a place here at the "Inn of Happiness" in the Catskill Mountains. PS: thank you for the breakfast shout-out... you should have seen us when we were fully functional. Warmest regards, Marianna and Leslie
