Hungry Trout Resort is like home now. I've been staying here every year for a decade. This is because it meets my needs in very exacting ways; the wonderful staff, clean, comfortable rooms, excellent food (both dinning room and pub), and the well equipped fly shop with knowledgeable experts. I usually stay in the Spring and head to Wilmington for...

A hotel/motel easy to drive in and to head to Whiteface mountain ski station without loosing a minute. A very good value notably for people from Canada. Very good and personnal service offered by the owners themselves: Jerry and Linda.

It's difficult to say if it was the 42" of snow or the time of season that impacted the area but if you are looking for any kind of nightlife or multiple choices of dining options I suggest staying at Lake Placid. But if you want a convenient location near Whiteface Mountain than Hungry Trout is a very good option...

Thank you for the review Tony. The snow certainly had quite an impact during the timeframe of your visit, but we are pleased to hear you were able to make the best of your trip despite the storm!

We just stayed in the motel for an early morning hike - typical motel room - comfy beds, they brought us better pillows when we asked but just a standard motel room. i bet the suites and such are great but we didn't need that much. Restaurant is supposed to be awesome but it was closed. pretty typical but clean...

I love skiing at Whiteface mountain. I have been skiing there for many years now. The Hungry Trout is a clean, simple, uber-convenient place to stay if skiing at Whiteface is your thing. If you are seeking the Four-Seasons, and wish to spend considerable cash, this likely is not your preferred hotel. I find it simple and predictable, and the...

Great spot, very close to Whiteface mountain and hoards of Adirondack hiking trails, very friendly service and superb restaurant and pub. Though our room did not appear to have been remodeled in some time, the bathroom was clearly updated recently. Our two night ski trip visit was great, from start to finish. Pooch friendly too and our dog enjoyed the...

We arrived late Friday night and were able to access our room immediately. It was great to walk into a comfortable, neatly furnished room that was impeccably clean and prepped for our weekend stay. I don't usually comment on this, but I was particularly impressed by the water pressure and the water temperature. The water heated up in seconds, which...

We travelled here for a the Canadian Family Day Weekend. The check in was easy and the room was amazing. When you travel here ask for the updated rooms because they are refurbished and very clean. You will also have to eat at the restaurant because it is a fun experience and the food is delicious. We have been here...

There's something to be said when you arrive at your destination where the owner is greeting you. Jerry was welcoming and truly cared about our experience. He took the time to point out local points of interest including touristy spots, local hangouts, scenic overviews and even the liquor store. Though we were not doing any fishing it was obvious he...
