So stayed here for a long weekend when everything in Lake Placid was already booked. Booked after reading the reviews, had to admit it was a big let down. Found rat poop in the cupboards. The room thermostat didnt work completely, so they gave us a space heater...lol. This was when it was -12 f at night, no windchill, straight -12. thanks...for the space heater, at least we wont die. Had the most horrible coffee packs, that they didnt replace. Never came in and changed the towels, which we left on the ground as they told us to if we wanted them changed. Rug was old and dirty. The stairs had no salt on them, almost broke my neck. Maybe they are trying to save money during the time of covid, who knows? Maybe she was distracted by the Trump impeachment trial that was going on, since that was the first thing she told me about was how much she hates Trump and cant stop watching the trial. Listen, I didn't like him either, but Im here for vacation, not to hear more politics the minute I get in. Anyways, this is an honest review, if you want a room thats a step up from a hostel, this is it. If you want something a little more accommodating, a real hotel is your best bet.

Hello Mike. We are very disappointed to hear that you and your guests did not have a pleasant stay during your recent visit here. My wife and I have owned this little Mom & Pop motel for 20 years. It is not a corporate brand hotel, but an independently owned facility. Your business helps our family live the dream of owning a small business in the Adirondacks. As you can read by the previous reviews, we work very hard to make our customers comfortable and ensure an enjoyable stay. The logging of 65 acres behind us has disturbed the surrounding natural habitats. We have rarely had mice problems in our motel. When an issue regarding pests comes to our attention we respond immediately. The smaller and older motel facilities in the Adirondacks face a big challenge each winter trying to keep our rooms warm especially when the temps fall below zero, let alone -12 degrees. Thus the space heater is provided for your convenience. When you arrived you received a memo stating our Covid-19 practices. We have eliminated daily housekeeping to minimize the possible spread of Covid-19. We state in the memo that if towels/toiletries are needed, to contact us in the office and supplies will be provided. Not once did you notify us of any requests/issues. You never asked us for towels, coffee packets or let us know of the mice droppings. Fresh ground coffee, which many guests have complimented us on, is available each morning in the motel office. Keeping our steps and walkways clear of snow and ice each January and February is a daunting task. We go through buckets of ice melt each year. We are sorry that we overlooked your steps during your visit. It's frustrating to hear concerns and/or complaints weeks after a customer's stay through a review when these issues could have been addressed and rectified the during your stay. We wish all of our guests would do the same if needed. We wish you the best and pray you stay safe during this pandemic. Enjoy your next stay in the Adirondacks and perhaps give us another opportunity to make your stay more satisfying.

Judy and Bill truly went above and beyond! When one of my genius friends lost the keys to the rental car while we were skiing at the resort, the owners came and picked us up and drove us back up there the next day to get our keys from lost and found. Would have been a total nightmare without their help. We also loved the decor and the setup of the place and the location was great too.

This was our first stay at this property. We were pleased with the location. It's close to Whiteface Mountain, the Memorial Highway, and many hiking trails. A general store is right across the street. Places to eat (Pourman's Taphouse and Fratelli's Pizza) are a two minute drive. Coffee, tea, and hot chocolate are available in the morning. The property has a pool, shuffle board court, fire pit, and play structure for guests to use. The owners were lovely. Book directly with them instead of using Travelocity. It saves you money on the nightly rate. If you are looking for a clean, well-maintained place to stay in the Adirondacks, this is a good choice.

I Stayed at the Alpine Country Inn & Suites, with friends for a long weekend of hiking and activities . The rooms are nice, clean with microwaves and fridge. The grounds have a swimming pool, bbq grills, fire pit, gazebos ... certainly a lot for what you would expect from a small mom and pop shop owned hotel\motel. To top it off, Judy and Bill are there to make sure everything is going well and taken care of. Every evening, Bill starts the fire in the fire pit, provides the wood etc. The service and amenities deserve a 10 star rating. Next time I plan to be in the Lake Placid\Wilmington, I will try and stay here again. Highly recommended to anyone else!!!!

We had a wonderful stay during July 4th week. Bill and Judy were so accommodating and helpful. We were able to enjoy the pool, playground, BBQ area, games on property and the fire pit in the evening. The room was perfect for our family of 4. Very clean and the price was on point. On our drive home, they called us to let us know our daughter had left a toy behind. We were asked for our address as they were going to mail it home to us! It arrived a few days later and my daughter was so excited to be reunited with her CareBear. I was so touched by this and will be definitely visiting again soon. It was the perfect spot to stay while visiting one of our favorite vacation destinations in NY.

My brother and I stayed here over the Fourth of July weekend for 3 nights as a base for our hiking. First off, the rooms were very clean. The interiors were updated. The price was reasonable for a holiday weekend. $119 per night. Only a 10-mile drive to Lake Placid. Property is at the base of The Veterans Memorial Highway that leads to the top of Whiteface Mountain. If you have young children Alpine is about a mile from Santa’s Workshop. The couple that own the property are property are very nice and helpful. If you are looking for a reasonable price and cleanliness, I strongly recommend Alpine Country Inn.

A comfortable stay with friendly owners and gorgeous surroundings in the fall. Campfire and comfortable pavilion - great for families. The room seemed a little crowded, even for two. More info on what restaurants were open in the area would have been helpful.

Thank you for your review. We're happy you were comfortable during your stay and enjoyed the campfire. The fall and its colors are our favorite time of year here in the Adirondack Mountains. Our rooms are small yet cozy, but perhaps you may consider our two-room suites during a stay in the future. Hope to see you again.

We highly recommend this property for its nice rooms, low prices, and friendly owners. My spouse selected this place for the latter part of our early August week vacation in the Adirondacks/Lake Placid region, based on favorable Trip Advisor/other travel sites’ reviews, low room rates, and proximity to a multitude of hiking trails in that region. Wilmington, NY is approx. 10 miles from the town of Lake Placid, and about 15 miles from the town of Saranac Lake, a quick car trip along the nice scenic, partly limited access, Hwy 86 that runs through the parts of all 3 towns. The location is a series of linearly laid out rooms accessible up a few steps to a covered wooden boardwalk that runs along room entrances, car parking in front of each room, all typical motel style. Each room has 2 outdoor chairs on walkway near the room entrance, a nice place to veg out with a beer at end of the day. The motel is located on the main street of Wilmington (part of Hwy 86), and we really only heard (truck) traffic noise when we were outside. There's some kind of large family camping/entertainment resort across the street where sometimes loud music blared out, but that was again only noticeable when outdoors. Did not hear any noises from either adjacent room, not even the usual plumbing/showers, so the rooms must be well-insulated and/or the we had very quiet neighbors. Some of the rooms were occupied by people in the area for a local lacrosse tournament, so the occupants were either singles (one was a referee) or a couple of players. Both the main room land bath looked recently renovated, or extremely well maintained. We had a adequately sized room, clean, odorless, non-smoking room that had nice wood paneling up about 4 ft from the carpeted floor. The queen bed had night stands on both sides, and a pair of reading lamps above the head board. The room also had a small table/pair of chairs, desk with chair, relatively large mini-fridge, microwave, and flat-screen TV. We only use the fridge which we always find very useful/convenient during any hotel stay for dinner left-overs (for next day lunches), and cold drinks. The was a small luggage alcove off the main room with a clothes hanging rod, about half dozen hangers. Nice to see some real plastic hangers instead of other hotels stupid wooden hangers that only attach via special hooks to the hanging rod fittings. An additional nice touch was plastic floor tray inside near the room entrance for footwear that we typically remove to avoid tracking outdoor dirty into our living areas, so we could use that tray for our Both the main room land bath looked recently renovated, or extremely well maintained. An additional nice touch was the plastic floor tray just inside the room entrance for the footwear we typically remove anyway, so we could use that tray for our wet/dirty shoes/hiking boots. An air conditioner was available, but use it only for a short time one day when were in the room one late afternoon and it seem warmer and more humid than usual during our stay. The small bathroom was nicely done with walls/ceiling wood paneling. It had the toilet, seamless plastic shower stall, and standalone sink/vanity cabinet. No ventilation fan, but the screened window that could be opened was probably better than a fan for ventilation and steam vapor dissipation from showers. A nice touch was the 4 wall pegs opposite the sink and near the shower stall that could be used to hang towels or garments temporarily for, easily reach. No counter space, but the top of the toilet tank served OK for temp use. The only thing that might be improved would be either a slightly longer shower curtain or one weighed on the bottom to reduce the chance of the curtain bottom accidentally escaping the stall lower lip and allowing water onto the floor during a shower. After this happened to me on first use, I was more careful not to accidentally touch the curtain during my showers to keep it within the stall confines. A couple of decent size hand/shower soap bars, the usual small shampoo/conditioner bottles were supplied, along with 3 sets of perfectly adequately towels. A nice extra was the nightlight provided in the bathroom. A light breakfast was provided daily in a office lobby small area, and fairly minimal as would be expected from the low room rates. Decent hot coffee, hot water for tea or dry hot cereal, milk, OJ, fruit, granola-type bars, and a few packaged pastries are put out. There's an ice machine in the area if one needs it for a cooler. The light breakfast was not a problem as eating a few items mostly satisfied our needs, and we could, and did, supplement a bit with some yogurt and such from a small local market just down the street and around a corner. That store has some of the essential supermarket stuff like fruit, sandwiches, beer, other drinks, groceries, etc. The free Wi-Fi worked easily with our iPad with a consistent connection and speed. Could not get AT&T cell phone service in the room or on the porch/walkway in front of the rooms, but could get weal signal and connection at the end of the property near the main road. The AT&T service was often either non-existent or spotty in this geographical region as we droved, hiked, or where we stayed, but this was not unexpected in mountainous terrain and low population densities. If one needs to use a cell phone at any point, then one just has to try a call and see if it connects. in front of the property is a swimming pool, and a lawn with a gazebo with picnic table, and a BBQ pit/grill along with some wooden chairs it. We did not use any of these, but they all look like good places to hang out, and relax with snacks and drinks.

This place was ideal for our family get together. The place was clean and comfortable. The WiFi worked well as did all the appliances and amenities. The owners friendly and attentive. And there was plenty of space for the young members to run around and play. Close to the restaurants and attractions of Lake Placid but without the hubbub. We will return. If you are traveling with teenagers they could feel a bit isolated in the peace and quiet of this location.
