This used to be managed by Ritz Carlton and now is The Opus. It is remodeled and feels new and clean, with nice finishings, but the amenities in the bathroom were lacking, like no shower cap, hand lotion, etc. Not enough small towels for the room either. The front desk check in person was not as welcoming either. Could be the NY way, but it is not a good first impression for the hotel's image. The valet was superb service! Overall, wonderful food and room service and we enjoyed our larger room immensely. The room service person was so nice and helpful too, and the bellman was wonderful as well.
The perfect location in White Plains for dining, shopping and entertaining. So much is available to see and do and most within walking distance. The staff are very professional from the valet, bellman and especially the Front Desk personnel. The Hotel is beautiful and recently renovated and redecorated. The Lounge for breakfast was superb and relaxing for after dinner drinks. Our room was spacious, oh so clean and very very comfortable. The bathroom was over the top - huge and wonderful shower. The place to stay!
I have never been to this part of New York. It was obviously the plush suburbs. Our law firm has a budget for hotels and so I assumed it would be the usual business style hotel. It was far better. The reception staff were awesome (and put up with my Amazon order nonsense with great grace!). The bar was plush and barmen/women knowledgeable. My room was ridiculously nice. A separate small living room and bathroom, Begas style huge bathroom with separate bath, shower, toilet, and a massive bedroom with great floor to ceiling windows. I thought I must have lucked out, but all of my colleagues said that their rooms were the same. Really hope I get a chance to come back here. Thanks!
This is the place to stay in Westchester,NY. The hotel is a lovely place. They have a very good breakfast menu. The people who work here are very nice. The rooms don’t have carpet which is kind very cool. The location is great very walkable. Kind of like a little Manhattan
Just checked in....starting off with 2 stars and I'm sure it will only go down from here!! I reserved 3 nights at this hotel. It used to be a Ritz Carlton but for whatever reason either Marriott took away the flag or the owners didn't want to pay the fees to remain a Ritz Carlton, so it is now the Opus, a member of the Autograph Collection (I wish it were still a Ritz Carlton and honestly would never stay here again at Opus for the lack of service compared to a Ritz!) I had reserved the hotel using my free night rewards (note these are the more expensive Ritz free night rewards and not the lower priced Marriott rewards so the hotel was being reimbursed at a higher rate). I wanted to use a suite night award upgrade certificate but strangely enough the Marriott rep had problems with the system and said to use it at check in. So I was not requesting a "freebie" upgrade (which btw I am entitled to based on availability). As I approached the check in desk, I tried to reserve a suite for my stay and sure enough an Executive King Suite was available. I asked the front desk and they very matter of factly said "no suites available...lol. I showed them the website showing availability and the Front Desk Manager curtly said "NO availability." As a bit of background, I am an industry professional for 30 years, even having worked on the deals with the former CEO of Marriott...RIP...a beautiful person. I have worked with and stayed at every type of Marriott Hotel all around the world. After reserving the room a few days prior, I sent an introductory email to the GM Elizabeth Andrews twice and no response. I also sent 4 other emails to the sales office (2) and to the general email box (2) and no response. I called the sales office and informed a Ms. O'Shea of the lack of response and she basically changed the subject without answering. In short, unless you are really stuck having to be across the street from this hotel, don't stay here. The service is nowhere near a 5 star hotel besides the bell hops. There are better options in Tarrytown which is less than 10 minutes away. I happen to be stuck here but am trying to do you a favor before you book and it's too late to change with losing your money.…
Hotel is beautiful, but for this price they are understaffed and the staffed that are on-duty are undertrained and stressed out. I stayed here when it was a Ritz and it was great. Now they are disorganized (took a half hour to get through the front desk) and a mess. Never again.
stayed here as local staycation while taking care of shopping in NJ. Overall, I liked the location/professionalism of staffs/spacious room/swimming pool but felt like the hotel is a bit in limbo state.. I would recommend staying here if you have business in White Plains but be wise to not expect 5 star NYC Ritz Carlton level. pro: There's definitely Ritz Carlton legacy in the hotel. The location was very central (almost makes walking OK), staffs are very professional, bathrooms are very luxurious, swimming pool was very nice with plenty of sunlight. It was very clear the hotel wisely kept a lot of things that were already at Ritz Carlton quality. con: the renovated area felt a bit awkward. Unclear it's because some part of the hotel wasn't renovated or if it was done poorly but our room for example had amazingly nice bathroom and fairly mundane room itself. TV was "smart" but was crawling slow (not because of internet) the door doesn't fully close unless you make sure to close all the way. There was loud noise on the hallway throughout the night. The hotel charges $2 per water bottle when you request extra.. I'd be ok paying for it in budget hotels but this felt like nickel diming for a hotel of this status There wasn't anything wrong with the hotel though for the price, it didn't quite scream as good value- it does have a lot going for it so i think there's still ways to make it better.…
Great hotel. I certainly can't understand the previous reviewers comments. My experience on two different occasions in February was nothing like that. Pleasant check-in staff and valet, spacious clean rooms, nice size bathroom with a big shower, big TV, comfortable bed, good amenities. I plan to stay there every time I am in White Plains for now on. One plus, lots of places to eat, drink, and shop at within walking distance.
We had a pretty unpleasant experience here in February 2022. It was our third stay at the hotel and the service has gotten worse each time. We heard the front desk staff constantly arguing with guests while we were waiting in the lobby. The staff was generally pretty unfriendly, after some time in the lobby it seems the majority are burnt out. They would make fun of guests after berating them on the phone in earshot of other guests. We were pretty shocked by this behavior. They would always default to answering “no” for even simple requests and then eventually acquiesce. It seemed like a waste of time to start at no and work their way to yes but we witnessed this with at least 6 separate guests while we were sitting in the lobby. There is no business center or place for you to take work meetings outside of your own room. My husband was taking a business call on the second floor in the empty space and the salesman for the hotel came in with a potential client. He said within earshot “I have no idea how this guy got off the street and in here, I’m going to have security escort him out immediately.” If he had asked we would tell him that we had been told that it was ok to use that space by the front desk while housekeeping was in the room and we walked up the stairs. The facility is okay. It is pretty clean, with some signs of wear and tear. If you miss housekeeping you will have to wait until the next day (we called at 2pm one day because of work meetings and it was a no). There is no turndown service. The suites are large but are missing a dining table. Gym has all the basic equipment, pool is too small to do reasonable laps. The pool was completely packed every time we tried to go, maybe because there was an event at the hotel. The room service is not great, stick to the basics (burgers and fries). Terrible that they lost the steak house which used to be in the hotel because you could get a popover there in a pinch! Honestly, it is very unlikely we would stay here again even though we are often in the area.…
This is a luxury hotel in Downtown White Plains. It used to be a Ritz Carlton flag and now it is part of the Autograph Collection under Marriott. Still the same owners. Service is luxury, but a little less than Ritz service. Fitness Center and Pool are on the top floor. Perfect for parties and events in the Westchester area. Close to Scarsdale, Hartsdale, White Plains, and Mamaroneck. Chic Le Labo toiletries are offered in the rooms..
