Terrible check in procedures. No parking, no help with luggage, loud band playing into the night. No handle in the shower setting them up for a slip and fall suit. No breakfast facilities. Overall guest service was not worth $300.00 / night. Could have stayed in a Hampton for half the price and get breakfast….😡😡😡😡😡

Hotel's Favorite
We stayed in the Thayer for 7 nights as a family. It made for a wonderful home-base at West Point. The staff and employees were all tremendously hospitable and accommodating, even carrying our luggage up stairs where there was no elevator access. The fireplace was always roaring, we were always asked if we needed anything, attention to detail is a priority for them—the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The Thayer is a true piece of West Point history—the architecture and decor on the inside is a continual reminder of where you are, who you are among. It felt like a privilege to *get* to stay there. The building itself feels like a museum and is so authentic to the soul of West Point. The food was amazing to all of us. (Especially having just returned from being stationed in the UK wink wink.). I recommend the drunken monkey bread. So fun to eat and really delicious. I was so bummed that Zulu time was off for the season, it’s one of the best places to gather in the WP/HF community. If you are there during Zulu Time season, your stay will be over the top!! The views of the Hudson are simply stunning. I loved looking out the window throughout our stay, just to see the current color of the river. Our stay was made more convenient by the Thayer’s proximity to Highland Falls... it was nice to be able to walk into town to grab a snack or a quick meal to support the local community. Overall the Thayer has done everything they possibly can to provide a world-class hospitality experience to all of us who love and adore West Point. Support what they are doing!! Do not stay anywhere else!

The front desk was extremely friendly and helpful. I immediately felt comfortable and welcome. I stayed during Covid so not much to do around the hotel with the bar and restaurants closed for health reasons, but a very comfortable and cool stay in such a historic hotel. The staff pointed me to all the good restaurants in town, which were an easy walk and I enjoyed the beauty of the area and historical artifacts around the hotel and my room.

Ability to enjoy the location and facilities was adversely affected by rainy weather and COVID restrictions. Meal options limited and pricey. Gym closed. Nice rooms, location and friendly, attentive staff.
