It's a cool historic place however the rooms are incredibly outdated really old furniture and fixtures. Also the TVs they use are old panasonics from 15 years ago with no smart TV capability so you can't watch Hulu or Netflix etc like most basic hotels. The restaurants are good the user amazing and the main hall by the fireplace is also very nice especially in the winter

Hotel's Favorite
We stayed in the Thayer for 7 nights as a family. It made for a wonderful home-base at West Point. The staff and employees were all tremendously hospitable and accommodating, even carrying our luggage up stairs where there was no elevator access. The fireplace was always roaring, we were always asked if we needed anything, attention to detail is a priority for them—the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The Thayer is a true piece of West Point history—the architecture and decor on the inside is a continual reminder of where you are, who you are among. It felt like a privilege to *get* to stay there. The building itself feels like a museum and is so authentic to the soul of West Point. The food was amazing to all of us. (Especially having just returned from being stationed in the UK wink wink.). I recommend the drunken monkey bread. So fun to eat and really delicious. I was so bummed that Zulu time was off for the season, it’s one of the best places to gather in the WP/HF community. If you are there during Zulu Time season, your stay will be over the top!! The views of the Hudson are simply stunning. I loved looking out the window throughout our stay, just to see the current color of the river. Our stay was made more convenient by the Thayer’s proximity to Highland Falls... it was nice to be able to walk into town to grab a snack or a quick meal to support the local community. Overall the Thayer has done everything they possibly can to provide a world-class hospitality experience to all of us who love and adore West Point. Support what they are doing!! Do not stay anywhere else!

I have stayed in a suite where presidents have stayed and bills were signed! I have stayed in the Eisenhower suite multiple times and it is just beautiful. Of course Covid-19 has taken some of the perks from customers IE. valet parking, room service etc. But it is worth every dollar

Hotel oozes history. The Thayer is a must try for it’s on site history and touring of military grounds. The hotel will not disappoint either with its comfortable accommodations, helpful service, or dining options. We stayed for a wedding celebration and were impressed with the wonderful banquet room, and wonderful food. Overall, The Thayer Hotel is a must try. You will not be disappointed. You feel the history all around you, and you know it will stand the test of time.
