After I returned home from a very pleasant stay at the Thayer Hotel, I realized that I left my pricey jacket in the room closet. The next morning I emailed the hotel, and within MINUTES, Stephanie responded and said that she located my jacket and that she would be mailing it out right away. If that’s not excellent customer service, I don’t know what is. Stephanie is an outstanding employee

This is the Hotel of West Point. (You will go through security), It’s an old style hotel with great service. The rooms are large & well-appointed. Some rooms honor American Generals. Views of the Hudson River or the mountains. Quiet on the mountain side. Nice breakfast with individual omelettes available. Excellent hospitality. We hiked the nearby trails at Storm King, (challenging) then to Dia Beacon for the museum the next day. Well worth the trip.

A grand hotel that has been dressed up but is lacking in a number of key areas. First of all the gym is atrocious, located in another building down three flights of stairs-it is a VERY LONELY place and I would not recommend a female go there alone. I get that the hotel is striving to celebrate the graduates, but we counted 29 photos and mementos of the person the room was dedicated towards...twenty-nine photos including 1 in the bathroom-a wholly inappropriate place. The heating and air conditioning system is finicky to use ( I had to google the model to get instructions ), the lights in the room are poorly laid out. That is our room had what you might call a reading nook with a nice chair and short shelving unit with a selection of books, too bad there was no light in that corner such that you could not actually read anything at night as the lights were either over the closet or by the bed. Also the coffeemaker was located in this dark corner making that an unnecessary chore. Possibly if they had left off one or two photos they could have afforded a reading light or a simple light for that corner. Finally, I understand having the lights on motion sensor, all for it...except there is no nightlight in the bathroom and getting up I ran into the table that was near the chair and nearly fell over. I did get a colorful bruise from stumbling in the dark...the lack of a working nightlight in the toilet is really inexcusable considering the low wattage of them these days. All in all I would not recommend staying here unless you absolutely have to for a function.

We want to assure you and our other guests that our gym is very safe and is only accessible to our guests and specialty staff. We take pride in providing excellent service and hospitality and will share your comments about the lighting with our Management Team. Thank you for staying with us.

My husband and I had a wonderful experience at the Thayer Hotel. Our king bedroom in the old section of the hotel was spotless, fresh and quiet. The mattress was very comfortable and we had a variety of pillows to choose from. The window opened and we slept in cool autumn air. The bathroom was immaculate with ample water pressure and drains that drained! This building is a century old and has managed to be ageless. It was a pleasure to spend a night in this nicely decorated room with adequate space. The only negative, the wall mounted hair dryer did not have a cool button.

This is my third stay at this historic hotel! They always deliver the best in hospitality! It is always an honor to stay at the Thayer Hotel. Allison, the reservations manager is superb. I strongly recommend the executive level rooms! The reception team does their best to accommodate all their guests. I also enjoyed my dinner at the main restaurant. Jeff did his best to take care of all the guests! Also, thank you to the Housekeeping team fo maintaining the highest standards and thank you Mallory for handling guest questions and wake up calls. Whoever stays here will get a memorable experience!

This hotel is so perfect in every facet that a traveler needs. The front desk personnel are super nice and very helpful with getting you around the valley. The restaurant has an awesome breakfast buffet that is a must do item. Patton's Pub was a great spot for a quick bite and a beer. The Phiily Steak sandwich was a surprise, for it had real steak cut into super thin slices and the best seasoning I have ever had. The property is clean and immaculate, always. This is a must stay of you are in the area for West Point or touring the Hudson Valley. 10/10!!
