Years ago we checked out the Thayer hotel but it was way to pricey for us. However, last week on a whim, I called and was shocked. They were running a "Lovers" Special and the room was $89. Unfortunately, the Bar and restaurant were closed the day before. We, and another couple booked and the next day headed up for a 24hr excursion. The Hotel is beautiful and well maintained. Hand sanitizerrs everywhere. The Staff were very accomodating and Professional. The rooms were spotless and everything seemed NEW. The beds so comfortable we almost slept in!! The quaint town is about a 5 minute walk to restaurants,Bars, McDonalds and a dunkin donuts. The Thayer is next to West point so expect a strong Military atmosphere within. Spacous lobby and beautiful views of the hudson. You can add the 5th Star when the bar and restaurant open. Mid week seemed to be the best time to go. Strangely, we only saw another couple while we were there, But thats fine with us. Since we like the area we will be returning.

Hotel's Favorite
We stayed in the Thayer for 7 nights as a family. It made for a wonderful home-base at West Point. The staff and employees were all tremendously hospitable and accommodating, even carrying our luggage up stairs where there was no elevator access. The fireplace was always roaring, we were always asked if we needed anything, attention to detail is a priority for them—the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The Thayer is a true piece of West Point history—the architecture and decor on the inside is a continual reminder of where you are, who you are among. It felt like a privilege to *get* to stay there. The building itself feels like a museum and is so authentic to the soul of West Point. The food was amazing to all of us. (Especially having just returned from being stationed in the UK wink wink.). I recommend the drunken monkey bread. So fun to eat and really delicious. I was so bummed that Zulu time was off for the season, it’s one of the best places to gather in the WP/HF community. If you are there during Zulu Time season, your stay will be over the top!! The views of the Hudson are simply stunning. I loved looking out the window throughout our stay, just to see the current color of the river. Our stay was made more convenient by the Thayer’s proximity to Highland Falls... it was nice to be able to walk into town to grab a snack or a quick meal to support the local community. Overall the Thayer has done everything they possibly can to provide a world-class hospitality experience to all of us who love and adore West Point. Support what they are doing!! Do not stay anywhere else!

The room was so clean. Room windows can open for fresh air. Hand cleaner throughout the hotel. Take away meals only worked well for us, we ate on the open-air covered porch. Staff, as always, helpful and knowledgable. Looking forward to our next visit and view of sunrise over the Hudson RIver.

We recently attended a memorial service at West Point and we all stayed at the Thayer Hotel. All of the arrangements were handled perfectly. The rooms were comfortable and the staff were all attentive and friendly. I would definitely recommend the Thayer if you are in the West Point area.

Just an overnight, but everything was great! We were there for a funeral, in the morning. The hotel was very accommodating and allowed us a late check-out, so that we could change our clothes after the funeral and then check-out.
