Finglen House was easy to find using Google Maps. We arrived in Glasgow by plane and rented a car, and it took about 40 minutes to get to the house. It is situated at optimum driving distance from the main tourist attractions of southern Scotland (Stirling - 40 min, Edinburgh - 1 h 30 min). Finglen House is situated in... More

We had great stay for a weekend travelling down from Scotland. The hosts were very accommodating in their most comfortable home. The garden was a delight to sit and relax in after a long drive. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast very target. Would highly recommend to all and dog friendly to as they have two lovely dogs... More

We spend a wonderful weekend here. Lovely house and room. Beautiful gardens and nice walks starting from the house. The hosts were very friendly and gave us very useful information on what to do during the weekend. Loch Lomond and conic hill hike. Farm show and scenic drive to one. Of the castles. Thank you so much for everything. We... More

They have an ideal location in a lovely village - hidden away feeling but 30 min to Glasgow and close to Trossachs. House and grounds are just amazing. We also enjoyed dinner and whisky tasting only minutes' drive away. The innkeepers' son William was a wonderful host for a portion of our stay and then Sabrina and Douglas returned. They... More

We found elegant comfort at the Finglen house during our recent stay while walking the John Muir Way. We were greeted with a warm welcome from Sabrina, the proprietor, a pot of tea and cookies, and a blazing fire before retiring to soak our aches away in the warmth of her long bathtubs. Our full Scottish breakfast included home grown... More

Sabrina and Douglas are great hosts and made us feel very welcome, along with their two lovely dogs. Such a great location with a beautiful burn running through the ample gardens. The house is quiet, warm and beds are really comfortable. Old Mill in nearby Kilearn is a great place for food (as recommended by Douglas).

What a beautiful peaceful setting! Home from home, open fires, comfortable beds and great breakfasts! Sabrina and Douglas are attentive hosts and their two dogs are friendly and sweet. A great place to unwind with big skies and the sound of water over rocks through the garden snow sun and rolling hills yet equidistant from all the attractions. Falkirk Kelpies... More

A very lovely property and Douglas and Sabrina were extremely inviting into their home. Very lovely fire place and sitting room, two adorable wee dogs, a very comfortable bedroom and both the cereal/yogurt and the cooked breakfast were very tasty. Douglas was also very helpful providing directions to nearby places for food or to get to nearby landmarks. Overall we... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Finglen House nestles at the foot of the spectacular Campsie Hills just 30 minutes north of Glasgow & 10 minutes from the National Park, 30 minutes from Loch Lomond. Finglen enjoys an idyllic setting bordered on one side by the Fin Burn, home to herons, dippers, Grey wagtail and mallard, and on the other by mature woodland. The beautiful eight acre garden gives a feeling of complete seclusion, rare for a property so close to Glasgow. Finglen provides an excellent base for expeditions to Glasgow, Edinburgh and Stirling or for exploring and experiencing the sublime beauty of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs. You could ride your bike all the way to Edinburgh or Glasgow without touching a road. Douglas works as a documentary cameraman and has travelled extensively in Scotland and is happy to give advice on expeditions further afield. ... more   less
