Discovered the Wags Emporium gift shop last year (and it is impressive in its breadth of goodies) and did almost all our Christmas shopping there so this year decided to make a holiday of it and stayed a couple of nights and shopped a lot - well my wife did the shopping bit. Stayed in the Delaporte Suite which was... More

If you're looking for a place to relax, recover and generally get back your joie de vivre, or missing mojo - do yourself a favour and take time out at Ford House. This was a return visit after 16 years. We stayed in The Cooks Retreat, which is a very private room with a beautiful wisteria covered veranda and view to the river. The room was clean and comfortably furnished, The gardens since we were last there have been extended and were an absolute pleasure to meander through. We also enjoyed the extensive... More

We stayed for just one night in this lovely, character property surrounded by beautiful gardens and overlooking the river. We were given a good welcome and were shown to a spacious, well furnished two bedroom apartment with a large sitting room/kitchen and dining area. The wood fire was already lit and more logs were available. My partner was very impressed... More

We have just had the pleasure of a weekend at Ford House. We had a room in the new building. The room was pleasantly laid out with good heating which was welcome given the chilly weekend. The setting is beautiful with a wonderful garden to explore. Jenny and her staff were friendly and attentive. Bacon and eggs for breakfast were... More

My partner and I recently stayed in one of the spa rooms for a night (Delawares). We were quite underwhelmed with the whole experience. The room itself looked nice, the decor was lovely. Unfortunately the roof and ceilings are in dire need of a good clean- there were cobwebs and dust everywhere. The bed was pretty average. When you are... More

Shared 3 nights at the Cook's Retreat part of Ford House in a quiet garden setting by the Blackwood River. Beautiful gardens with resident Geese, Fowls, Ducks and the many visiting cheerful birds. Breakfast served by the very busy ladies and cooked by our cook for the week. Simple fare loved the fresh farm bread and the stewed fruit. The... More

Ford House is located at one end of the main street - so just a pleasant stroll from the many shops and cafes. We stayed in the Jim Thorpe room which is in one of the newer buildings. Room was spacious, comfortable and very clean, and the bathroom/shower clean and modern. You can choose to eat breakfast in a quirky... More

Two nights in winter at the historic Ford House was memorable. Visited Bridgetown with friends on a weekend. Very cool inland in winter, but on request, wood fire was lit early in evening to warm the very spacious ballroom ensuite with graceful heavy curtains over the bay window. Views to the gardens, roses , rolling lawns are lovely. The Blackwood... More

We travelled down to Bridgetown for our anniversary. The Cook's Retreat was beautiful and just one of a variety of rooms on offer. All in one room the bathroom, bedroom and living room blended together beautifully. The spa offered a lovely option as did the self contained facilities. A private entrance added to the magical surroundings. The geese and gardens... More
