Villa Ceselle is a gem. Located in the quiet part of Capri, Anacapri, it is a 5 minute walk from the city center, has a gorgeous park/garden to lounge in and very well appointed rooms with Carthusia toiletries. Great scenic pool reached by shuttle bus with truly exceptional cooking. The difference, as usual is by the uber professional staff, that make you feel at home, dispense advice on things to do, see, eat and organize your stay so that you can truly kick back and relax, knowing you are in good hands. The wondrous Gelsomina and her team have you covered. Special thanks to Martina and Natalia for all their great tips
We booked for two nights in Villa Ceselle but due to an issue, we could not stay in our room the first night. The staff were very accommodating and organised a taxi from the port to the hotel and booked us a hotel nearby which was excellent! We then were given a fabulous room at Villa Ceselle on the second day which we loved! There are sun loungers and a hot tub in the beautiful garden. All the staff were amazing and couldn’t do enough for us throughout the stay. We also tried the hotel’s restaurant which was nearby, which was perfect as a shuttle bus ran us to and from the meal, which was delicious! Thank you for making our holiday perfect!
My first impression was of an inviting greenery- and flower-lined driveway leading up to a large charming yellow house. The gardens are lush and well-kept. Check-in was quick and welcoming, and they were happy to orient me to the island and the area. My garden-view room was quiet and secluded, and from the patio you could see a sliver of sea. My room was larger than I expected with a nice double bed, big bathroom with a nice-sized shower stall and all the expected amenities (safe, A/C, coffee-maker, etc). Wi-fi was spotty one night but lightning-fast the next (it was much more consistent closer to the lobby; there is a nice sheltered outdoor seating area there to hang out). The morning breakfast always had eggs and salumi and cheeses and breads and pastries. It’s just a short walk to the historic center of Anacapri and public transport to the rest of the island (tip: if you’re taking the bus from Capri, there is actually a stop after the first main one which will bring you even closer to the hotel). This hotel is also associated with Da Gelsomina, a hotel and restaurant with a beautiful pool overlooking the sea (I wasn’t able to take advantage of this during the day, but I had a nice dinner there, and its location is stunning). Da Gelsomina is a pleasant picturesque 30-minute flat walk away on the Via Migliara walking trail, or they offer a complimentary shuttle service in between the two (not sure how much notice you need to give for that). When you check out, Villa Ceselle offers a complimentary shuttle to Marina Grande. Overall this hotel gets high marks for its charm, quiet, location, and friendliness of its staff. I had a wonderful stay, thank you!…
Pros : The View Cons : During the trip, the WiFi, the TV and the hot tub was not working. There was a lot of flies and mosquitoes everywhere and it was hard to sleep because we were constantly getting bitten by mosquitoes. The amenities stated that there was the pool use included but when we tried to use it, we were charged for the use of the pool and also towels. The worst was actually the double room that we had, the double bed was actually combined together with 2 twin beds which made the bed very uncomfortable and it was almost impossible to sleep in the middle of the bed due to the "separation" of the bed at times. Also it was hard to access the hotel and the hotel customer service was the worst!!!
My room, 101, was lovely and had a small patio overlooking the garden, hot tub and a gracious breakfast area. The AC worked perfectly. If you want to nap during the day, you will hear noise from the reception area but at night, you basically don't have anyone next to you so it's pretty quiet. My daughter had problems with noisy neighbors, but with the owners' help, that was dealt with. My room was much larger than hers and more private. My daughter's room (104) was potentially a connecting room, smaller, with a much smaller bathroom. Both rooms were immaculate. The owners/hosts are as gracious as could be and so helpful. The breakfast is outstanding. The associated restaurant, Da Gelsomina, was fabulous and we ate there more than once. This is where I was introduced to Torta Caprese which is my now my "go to" dessert for company! The Villa Ceselle has complimentary transportation to this restaurant (also the location of the swimming pool) and to the pier with prior arrangements. I walked into the village of Anacapri several times - a short walk an exciting experience consisting of flattening myself against buildings or ducking into entrances to get away from crazy traffic. Once you are in the village of Anacapri there is little to no car traffic and you can exhale. This property is a delightful retreat from the tourist craziness of Capri. You will be happy you stayed here.…
