I think the hotel was nice for the price we payed it was very relaxed and I enjoyed it. If your looking for a nice quiet hotel this is ideal. The food isn't that great if your a fussy eater but it's eatable. The snacks aren't great they could have more choice but I don't know if that is because of covid. And the drinks could have abit more choice too but over than that I enjoyed it relaxing everyday and the pool is great its a proper suntrap all day it has sun on it. Thank you for a nice stay.

We had a short stay (only three nights) in the Aelia Resort. Having arrived late in the night we were greeted by a friendly enough member of staff who gave us the key to the room and told us it was upstairs somewhere, not a great start. After searching around we eventually found the room and were pleasantly surprised with the condition of it. The room was clean and tidy with plenty of space for two of us. The balcony had a lovely view of the sea but we directly overlooked a neighboring villa which wasn't great. The beds were plenty comfy for us, but I guess individual needs differ.
We woke up after a decent nights sleep and headed down to breakfast. This was the most disappointing of all the meals. Toast and cereal were available, along with eggs, sausages, and mushrooms this first morning but these were not tasty at all. There were some issues with electricity on that first day so tea and coffee were not available but there was orange squash. We did not bother with breakfast for the remainder of the trip.
The issue with the electricity continued throughout the morning meaning that soft drinks weren't working behind the bar but they got it up and running as soon as they could.
The pool was a very reasonable size and incredibly deep. We thought it to be reasonably clean but there were a few leaves and dead bugs in there, to be expected though I guess. There were plenty of sun loungers with parasols to relax on but do not believe the draw of a pool-side snack bar. The building was there but the amenities were not. It did host a ping-pong table and snooker table but the cue ball for the snooker appeared to have gone for a walk...
The restaurant area of the hotel was not big enough for the number of guests but we didn't mind a short wait for food. The bar is right next to it so it was easy enough to get a drink and wait for food whilst playing cards. Also nearby is a small shop that sells inflatables, cold drinks such as bottles of water, and some small trinkets for a reasonable price. There are no snacks around the hotel so we made sure to eat well at lunch and dinner. There was air conditioning in the lobby but it didn't often seem to be on. Wifi was available too but it wasn't worth the effort to connect.
Lunch and evening meals were a lot nicer, with there always being a selection of "fresh" salad with feta, pasta, rice and a meat dish. We had one meal which made my partner ill which we believe was egg based, but everything else was fine. The beef casserole type dish was especially nice.
The hotel is located about a 5-minute walk from the beach which had beautiful water. It was very clear but dropped off very quickly so not great for children unless supervised. The beach is pebbly which was no problem for us as we're used to this at home but it's also hot so I'd recommend wearing beach shoes to save discomfort.
There's not much else nearby the hotel so we got a taxi, costing €10, into Afandou for dinner one night at Sergio's which we would highly recommend. There was some difficulty getting a taxi back from Afandou so we walked which only took about 25 minutes and gave us an opportunity to see some more of the town.
Overall I would probably not go back to the hotel because I'd want to explore more of the island. For those, like my partner, who only want to relax by the pool or beach on a budget, then this is a perfect hotel as it's clean and quiet. The staff are friendly enough although understanding can be difficult sometimes, this isn't a place where they will go out of their way but we didn't pay for that. Good budget hotel.

We spent two weeks here ( August 8 to 22 ) . The hotel is close to the beaches (200 m ) which is not crowded . Afantou town is 2 km away ( 25 min walk) . The food was good and fresh in these two weeks except breakfast was always the same , I did not use the bar but it can serve a drink anytime. The rooms are cleaned every day and change the towels . The rooms look exactly 3 stars.
A big problem is the mosquitoes , but if you have air conditioning ( 8EUR / day) , no need to open the window at night.
In conclusion, this hotel is for people who want to relax, couples and families with children.
Rhodes Town is 20 km away ( 40 minutes by bus 2,4euro / person )

Firstly, can I say the staff were lovely, the room was clean and tidy, and the air on worked well.

Unfortunately...

On arrival, we were, all three of us shepherded in to a single room, with three beds, 2 adults, and a 13 year old girl. Despite the fact I'd contacted the hotel independently to ask for a change to our room, to one with two separate rooms.

The next morning, I bought an upgrade for €300. Which I thought was excessive.

Then, as most do, first stop was the pool... Quite simply shocking... Insects everywhere, both in and on the water, both dead and alive. Waterboatmen swimming round in it for heavens sake, not a drop of sterilisation chemical used, or a grain of salt in sight.

Then to breakfast... Disgusting... The only thing that was sometimes edible was scrambled egg, which unfortunately half the time was powdery and inedible, and beans, which were cold almost every time they were served, which was only 3 mornings. No bacon, no sausages. Everything was the cheapest ingredients or products available I'm certain. No butter for the toast we had to eat every morning we ate there, although they did bring us some when we asked for it. Half the time the coffee machine didn't work. And no tea for at least 4 days. No orange juice, only squash...

Then to lunch... Salad... and some other, rather nasty looking foods that I can't describe. Half raw meat balls, half cooked pasta, Greek salad where the first person in the queue had taken all the feta, leaving just leaves, the left over scrambled egg from breakfast in a salad bowl with peppers and green leaves, any left over rice from yesterday's dinner also in a salad, half stale rolls, half as many tables as we're needed for the amount of residents, meaning waiting around for a table almost every day no glasses for drinks, half the time, no drinks...

Then on to dinner... Salad... and again, some food I can hardly describe, left over rice or pasta from lunch in salad bowls with green leaves and peppers, half cooked pasts, half raw meat of one description or another, basically, all the same problems as lunch time meals.

Snack bar, which was mentioned in the holiday description... Non existent! Well, that's not strictly true, I think the CLOSED constantly pool side bar was supposed to be the snack bar, but it was derelict and useless.

Electronic games?... Enough said...

Availability of snacks from anywhere in the hotel... Non existent!

Salad... Browned lettuce, over ripe tomatoes which were getting mushier and mushier every day

Crockery... Every item was chipped, slimy to the touch, or simply still dirty

All food... Uncovered, unheated, and down right unacceptable. Reheated, reserved rice, pasta, scrambled egg

We spent €990 on this holiday eating out and finding things to do, even paying €30 a day for sun beds on the beach, because the pool was so disgusting.

We did eat a little in the hotel as was our right to, but when we did we got diarrhoea as a result. Myself, I've had it for 6 days now, and have had to have 2 days off work since returning because of it, I had to visit the pharmacy but Sadly I can't take Imodium, as it causes a reaction in my gut that require hospital treatment, so I've just had to suffer in virtual silence for 6 days.

Then 2 days from the end, the pool ladder, detached from the poolside...

All in all, an absolute disaster of a holiday...

As a result of this, I've applied to the holiday company for a refund, and I'm seeking legal advice for the illness I'm still suffering.

Aelia is a family run business, they were all very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Unfortunately, the rooms were below average. The bathroom hasnt been refurbished since 1980, dont expect a warm shower in the morning, because we never got one, although there was warm water later on in the day. You have to pay 8 euros a day, if you want aircon in your room. There is an aircon in the lobby, but it wanst turned on very often, so during the hottest parts of the day, whilst eating your lunch or dinner, you were sweating buckets. Although the drinks are all inclusive, they are not very nice. Dont fall the lie of having pool bar, although its there, it isnt functional. The building and surrounding area looks like its still a building site. Its only a short walk to the beach, which was very pleasant and never too busy. All in all, we had a reasonably nice stay, probably because we spent most of our time away from the hotel visiting the rest of Rhodes.

Everything that previous visitors have written is true, I would not repeat, but it is expected, considering the fact of the price. The staff is friendly, food choices is not large, but it is sufficient and the food is delicious, the pool is clean and there is no crowds at the pool, not on the beach. Linens and towels are not changed for 10 days, but the rooms are cleaned every morning. I would add that you really need a car, because the hotel is far away from everything except the beach which is beautiful. The atmosphere in the hotel was quiet, warm and family.

The hotel is placed great for the people who like silence and solitude. There are farms nearby. In the nights you can take any beach chair and look at the star sky - there's not much light around in the nights.

It takes about 5-7 minutes to reach the beach by walk. The sea is marvelous, very clean, people come here from other parts of island specially for it. However it's becoming deep very fast so for small children it may be found not very safe. There may be strong wind. Also, the beach is quite dirty as there's no service and people don't clean for themselves. There are no changing cabins but there's a shower. There are some abandoned military objects nearby (also some people saw some abandoned objects under the sea). Beach chairs are for pay 10AM-6PM, but we've never used them.

Behind the hotel there's a football field, not too big but enough to play even for small adult team. There's also a fig tree with great figs. There's a small children playground. WIFI works only in lobby. There's an abandoned bar near pool, it never works.

Meals are more or less ok, but almost no fruits, so we bought them in Afandu. We also bought water there. From time to time ice-cream, beer or something else finishes and it takes them some days to restore it in menu.

There are 2-3 cruises of bus train going to and from Afandu. Also there are buses going to Rhodes and other parts of island, but you need to wait for them. Alternatively you can rent a car of course.

Actually that's all advantages of this hotel. Service is awful. Personnel is rude, dishes are dirty, restaurant is attacked by insects each evening. Pool never cleaned. Room furniture old and broken. We didn't have double bed, only 3 single beds. Air conditioner is for additional pay and it's never cleaned. There's no safe in room. Air vent from kitchen blows inside the internal yard so the smoke goes into rooms. No entertainment, even at pool area. Very loud music all day long, the same CD playing each day. Some people seem to come there just to empty the bar, they probably don't know that there's a sea nearby.

So overall - although the placement is ok (not taking into consideration a heap of ruins which is placed between the hotel and the sea), but poor service ruins this. I can't recommend this hotel.

Hotel is very quite and clean. Rooms look like they been refurbished. Food ok nothing special but edible. Pool side very quite no fighting for sun beds pool bar seems to be closed so bit of a walk for a drink. If you want quite good place to be as they is not a lot to do round the area a few restaurants a short walk away and quite close to beach.
