Detailed Reviews
If you decide to visit Europa-Park, this is a great choice of hotel. Its not fancy, but it is clean and affordable. It is 10 min walk to the front gate of Europa-Park and has free parking out the front. They let me keep the car there after check out so I was able to return after our last day in the park and get the car.
The restaurant blow the hotel is one of the top rated restaurants in the area and we decided to have dinner there one night. The food is great and affordable, I would recommend eating there, though the food did take quite a while to come out, we were not in any rush and the staff are very friendly.
The breakfast was great as well. The table was filled with breads, cheeses, meats, eggs, coffee, juice, fruit salad, spreads, etc. But for the breakfast and dinner, Gasthof Altes Rathaus did not have any gluten free alternatives other than than the schnitzel I had was made gluten free which was great.
I was staying with my children and we had a room with a double bed and bunk beds, it was very clean and had everything in it we needed.
I would highly recommend Gasthof Altes Rathaus for your visit to Europa-Park and not staying in expensive resort hotels that are a nightmare to deal with.

A pros/cons review
Pros:
Great location: 5-minute walk to Europa Park. Lots of places to eat around the area and a local Backerei for coffee in the morning
Breakfast: Breakfast was delicious & filling.
Hosts: Very pleasant hosts.
Check-in & Room: Easy check-in . The key is in a locked box. Clean, nice size room for a good price.
Con:
Wifi: The wifi reception was poor in the evening. During the morning the signal was fine. Wasn’t too big a deal b/c we spent the majority of our time outside.
Overall rating: We’re planning on going back to Europa Park during the Christmas season, and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

We visited this hotel in Mid August - The Hotel is a few minutes walk from Europa Parc with the added benefit of free parking. The welcome was very good and all of the staff were very pleasant throughout our 2 days stay. The continental breakfast in the morning filled us up enough to keep us going until mid afternoon in the theme park. The family room on the top floor had separate sleeping areas (bunk beds for the kids) The shower was good and hot and we found it to be very clean. The beer garden to the rear was lovely and although we didn't actually eat there, the food looked really nice with good portions. We would definitely stay here again

I booked two nights for halloween through booking.com (30 / 31 October ). In my reservation I indicated I was going to arrive late after 10 Pm as I was driving with my family from Italy after work.
When I got in Rust and I found the Hotel but everything was closed, no one there, no ring and no one answering the phone of the hotel ( I could even ear te phone ringing inside the hotel )
After half an hour of trials I gave up and started to look for a room in Rust with mywirlpool and my 7 year old daughters, all hotels were fully booked and at the end I found only a suite at hotel Colosseo for 1270 euros for two nights.
I do not know where the issue came from, I leave travellers to judge.
I travel a lot for leasure and work and this has been by far the worst surprise I ever had, no respect for the customer considering both booking.com and the hotel had my email and mobile phone to contact me if needed.

This Hotel is located near Europapark and has a reasonable price and good food.
I was there with my family and friends and we could not complain at all.
People are friendly, the Installations are old but in good conditions, the rooms are clean.

Stayed here for three nights whilst visiting Europa park in July, friendly staff, clean rooms, great food inc breakfast, and a three minute walk to the entrance of Europa park. When we return, we wouldn't consider anywhere else, stay here you won't be disappointed.

My wife, 8 year old son and myself stayed here for two nights in August 2011. It's about a 3 minute walk to Europa Park. Our room was very clean, appeared to be freshly painted, had A/C that worked quite well and comfortable beds. The people we dealt with...a chef/cook who might have been the owner, a bartender and two women who ran the breakfasts were all very friendly. Rust is a small town so we easily found our way to get ice cream one night. A small river/canal runs by the back of the hotel. Although we didn't get a chance to eat there we walked by the outdoor tables of the hotel restaurant and my mouth watered as I eyed the dinners that were being enjoyed. We paid about $330 total for two nights in late August. That's a great bargain compared to the Europa Park hotels. It looked like there were plenty of other guesthouses in town so I'm guessing competition keeps the prices in a fairly tight range. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Also, breakfast was plentiful.

Superb hotel, great staff who made an excellent job of saving us from a dreadful place down the road. We needed three nights, they gave us a room for one night, and for the remaining two nights we had a luxurious apartment all at the price of a single room including a great breakfast. The Chef /owner is a brilliant cook. Best steak ever. Outdoor restaurant overlooking the river
