The place and The surroundings are wonderful. In The very heart of The black forest. The style is a real curious mix of marble , gold.and wood. Not The one I personally like most.. the rooms are wide and comfortable. The restaurant (not The starred one) we've tried was nice but The food average. IT seems that The place need some... More

The Dollenberg remains a distinguished member of the small group of fine and Michelin-starred hotels in this small area in the Black Forest. It is very efficiently run by the owners who are omni-present. It is so efficient that the expansion at the back of the hotel (due to open next year) is taking place without any disturbance to the... My husband and I just returned from a one-night's stay at this hotel beautifully located high up in the mountains of the Black Forest. Although we had a very pleasant time, there were a couple of negatives. But first the positives: we were allowed to check in two hours early without any issues. During the registration process, we were seated... More

Most of their staff are young and inexperienced. The kitchen staff do not speak proper English, and have no idea on how to handle 5 star customers (rude replies, or inappropriate ones). The food was good, but the menu is set up in such a way that you will always pay at least 50 € per person. On paying a... More

This was the third visit to the Hotel and we were not disappointed with thw food and view . Our junior suite on the 4th.floor overlooked the valley and was very spacious and comfortable. The half-board menu was excellent as was the Spa and pool. Our only problems related to language translations. This Hotel is very Germanic! Even the Dollenberg... More

I sometimes despair of humankind! We book holidays and breaks without doing due diligence and find that the hotel has rooms at the back which overlook walls and not valleys; we are surprised that rooms at the front cost more and, if we move, we will be charged accordingly; we fail to pack properly and assume hotels have irons and... Probably a very nice hotel for locals but for English speakers, book elsewhere. Very little is in English and what is, is poorly translated. Looks brilliant in the photos but very rigid, traditional German hotel. Staff were all very friendly and cannot fault them at all. It just wasn't for us. We booked for 3 nights but left after one,... I spend a long weekend together with my wife and 60 friends at the Dollenberg! We had a really great time! All wishes were taken care of at once and to 100% satisfaction. I did celebrate my 40's birthday at their Renchtalhuette and we had a great evening until 04:00 in the morning. They had organised a super party band;... More

Beautiful spot but the hotel is old fashion with young and inexperienced staff. Poor English speakers. The staff that drove my car to the parking lot almost destroy it driving with the hand-brakes on. The food very average for a 3 star hotel, let alone for a 5! Our carpaccio was served frozen, and the orders were confused by 3... More

Not great for families, period. Grounds are just shy of great, despite the beauty. The hotel was not particularly accommodating. We were turned away from the pool by non-English speaking spa staff for not having proper attire (we had not yet determined the protocol and had our swimsuits in our bags). Dinner was very long and hard with kids, despite... More
