Fantastic hotel, perfect for couples or dinner with friends. Beautiful bedrooms, an impressive dinner menu. To read the menu I wasn't blown away, but as the dishes came they were some of the best ever.
This is quite a luxurious, expensive place with high standards and ambitions. The hotel certainly lives up to it, but with high ambitions also come high expectations. It's the little things that then feel more annoying than they normally would do. E.g. initially no service available at the (beautiful!) wine bar or the (very correct!) sommelier forgetting about the dessert wine he would bring us after dinner. And talking about the dinner: we simply had expected a bit more from the restaurant than the rather crude, standard cuisine it delivered. Then again, who are we to complain? Having dinner outside a beautiful chateau, watching the sun set with the backdrop of a St. Emilion vineyard is not exactly torture, it's sheer luxury.
Two days of luxury and relaxation in a beautiful setting. Our bedroom (deluxe room opening onto the vines) and bathroom were all you would expect from a five star hotel. Breakfast and dinner were eaten out on the terrace overlooking the gardens. Both dinners we ate were of high quality and good value (but be sure to book your table for dinner at the same time as booking your room - as the restaurant is open to non-residents!) The spa and the pool area are attractive and well maintained. St Emilion is an easy 25 minute cycle ride (bikes are available) through the vines and past numerous chateaux. All in all a great couple of days; we shall return.
From the stunning location to the beautiful rooms and great customer service this was an amazing if brief stay. We enjoyed superb massages and use of the extensive spa facilities. The pool was lovely as well as the interesting light ‘snacks’ poolside. Dinner on the terrace was the perfect location overlooking the gardens and vineyards accompanied by some really cool live music from a jazz trio. Dinner was excellent although service on our night was a little slow and the wait staff perhaps could have been friendlier. Otherwise a perfect 5!
We didn't stay there but had a spa and it was really nice. Great products and of course the place, castle, spa and gardens are just awesome. Nice activity to recover from wine tasting =). I really recommend it. It's called Spa des 5 mondes.
