I had an incredible time here. Met so many fun people, went kayaking and swimming in the Amazon. We saw parrots, Tucans, frogs, howler monkeys, caimans and more. The food was the best food I’ve had in Peru, the room was great and the staff were super friendly and fun. I’d love to go again. It’s such a magical experience being in the middle of jungle noises.

My room was very clean and I didn’t see any critters in my room the entire stay… the latter is mostly down to guest behaviour as the room doors need to be kept shut at all times and don’t keep any food or snacks in your room. One guest kept loads of snacks in a drawer and food wrappers in their open bins thinking it would be ok but it just tempted critters to break in. There are bins in the main building where you can put your food trash. There is no electricity in the rooms but the solar showers were warm and there are plenty of candles and a lighter in the room. You share a roof with a neighbouring room, so if you are part of a group then request to be put in the room opposite them. The rooms are otherwise completely separate with individual front doors. There is no glass in the windows, just a sturdy mozzie mesh and you can hear the nature outdoors. Sent me straight to sleep and was a wonderful experience but if you dislike noise then you might need earplugs here! Otherwise it looks pretty much like a normal motel room. There is a mozzie net over the beds too. You can charge phones in the evening down at the main building. I’d still recommend bringing a portable charging device as quite often you might be busy with your phone/camera during the time slot for charging and if you miss it then you have no phone/camera! Surprisingly there was a phone signal down by the main building and river, so was not quite as cut off as I was expecting. The hammock outside the room was great to relax in. There is a stream a short walk away that you can paddle in and the friendly bar had plenty of chilled drinks and bottled water. The food was nice and there were short walks around the site you could go on unguided. The tours were great fun and we saw so much during 3 days… that said it’s still important to be realistic and do not expect them to track down a jaguar! Think more along the lines of caimans, monkeys, giant spiders and capybaras! I wish I could have stayed a bit longer.

An excellent experience from start to finish. Our guide, Hugo, was a fountain of knowledge of all things Amazon. His passion for the wildlife was infectious. We saw three types of monkeys, three types of caiman, lots of different birds, big rodents, spiders and other insects. Hugo really did make our trip special. We were lucky enough to be in a small group, just ourselves and one other couple being guided for the whole trip by Hugo. The lodge itself felt luxurious and secluded - we were greeted with fresh juice after the boat ride in. The rooms don't have electricity but the candles made it seem very romantic! Showers and toilets were great, and we weren't bothered by bugs at all. We were there during a cold snap and the extra blanket provided enough warmth for very comfortable sleeping. The food was very simple (rice with every dinner) but also very tasty and plentiful. It was nice to be able to get a beer at the bar and either drink it on the bar terrace or take it back to your hammock. Would 100% recommend!

Thank you so much for choosing to come and stay with us. And thank you, too, for taking the time to write so positively about your time at the lodge, and just how much you enjoyed and appreciated the expertise of one of our naturalist guides!! Yes!! You experienced that rarest of things: a "cold snap" in the Amazon basin!!! That's when our hot showers really come into their own!!!

Had an amazing time at the ecolodge. The rooms were clean with good amenities. The lodge itself had a relaxed and friendly vibe. Food was good. Although perhaps needed a little more variety. Still very tasty though. Our guide Hugo was AMAZING. I cannot understate this enough. He was knowledgable and passionate about the environment. You could tell he wanted us to see as many animals as possible (and we did! Lots of them). We’ve had lots of guides in our time in Peru and Hugo was by far the best.

What a way to finish Peru, this ecolodge is just perfect. It's important to point out there is no A/C it's an eco lodge, you don't even have electricity all day, be sure you know what your going into, shower was solar powered and always nice and hot. We stayed in bungalow 103b, it was clean, tidy and wonderful, when the jungle got a bit to hot it was nice to either head to the creek and cool off or shower then chill in a hammock, the sounds of the wildlife are just beautiful and I don't remember sleeping so well. They don't have windows so if you're having noisy neighbors that could become a distraction but my partner and I were alone in the edge of the compound, for us it was a very romantic and intimate place to be. It won't be for everyone but for the right people it's paradise

My wife and I spent two nights here in late August as part of a G Adventures tour. We loved every moment of our stay and were dissappointed only because we wish we could have stayed another night. It easily exceeded our expectations. The lodge is an eco lodge. So, as adverstised, there is no electricity in the rooms, but the main lodge building where the restaurant and bar are located does have electricity from 5-10 pm. We had a beautiful double bungalow (133A), but luckily for us there were no occupants in the other side of the bungalow. The rooms are powered by candle. Our room had 3 candles firmly secured into heavy bases along with a couple lighters. In addition, there were several wooden shelves along several of the walls to hold the candle up high in order to avoid an accidental knockover. As well, the bed and nightstands were pulled away from the wall and curtains to avoid any fires. We actually enjoyed the candle light. Along with our headlamp, we had more than enough light. .For us, the bungalow was the nicest place we stayed during our two weeks in Peru. We had a comfortable king sized bed, flush toilet, and huge and powerful shower with ample hot water. Like I said. Better than anywhere else we stayed in Peru. Most importantly, though, the entire bungalow was securely screened in so that no insects got inside. Very impressive! The walls are open (with a screen) so that we had ample breezes during our stay. The grounds are beautiful too. The food was delightful and ample, served buffet style. We were really impressed at how good the food was. The bar prices were very reasonable for where you are. The best part of our stay, however, was our guide Louis. Louis was simply amazing. This guy had professorial knowledge like an encyclopedia. Whether it was during our our night time jungle walk, our daytime jungle hike, and our night time boat excursion there was nothing Louis did not know about any specific type of plant, tree, animal, insect, etc. His knowledge and passion for sharing it made a good trip great! We learned a tremendous amount thanks to Louis and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Tambopata Ecolodge is an absolutely amazing place with super dedicated guides. They combine the traditional knowledge of the jungle, lifetime experience, and through scientific knowledge. They bring us closer to fauna and flora than we ever expected, including an unforgettable night walk. Accommodations are very comfortable.

The location was amazing and it was fascinating to see the wildlife. As it was an eco lodge, I didn’t expect wifi or electricity but the lodges were lit by candles which were alarmingly close to the curtains ( which were too small for the windows so everyone could see into your lodge) and bed linen so I felt quite unsafe. There was a whistle which we were provided with in case of fire! The standard of cleanliness was also poor which was disappointing. The bar was under stocked with basic drinks unavailable and the food was average, apart from one meal of chicken wrapped in leaves which was delicious. I had covid symptoms while I was there and there were no lateral flow tests so had to go on a 2 hour boat journey for a lateral flow test which cost $81! The previous week another guest who we knew also caught covid there. I did have covid and definitely caught it at the lodges but as none of the other guests caught it (all were then tested) I must have caught it from the staff or lack of cleaning. I could not recommend Tambopota based on my experience

Hello! We read your comments here on TripAdvisor with concern. We certainly understand that your experience was ruined by your illness. But, we feel we must address your comment about contracting Covid-19 at our eco-lodge. You stayed with us from the 17th to the 19th and displayed Covid symptoms within 24 hours of your arrival, as was the case the previous week with the guest you mentioned. Given the incubation period for Covid-19, it really is not possible that you contracted the illness at the lodge, and certainly not from our staff, who have abided strictly by all World Health Organization and Peruvian government guidelines since 2020, and of course are all fully vaccinated. And as soon as you began to show symptoms, our staff did everything possible to provide you with assistance, returning with you the 68 kilometers by boat and vehicle to town, and helping you to access the best available option on a Sunday in Puerto Maldonado for a Covid test, at a private clinic. Also, while it is true that we have been limiting our bar service as a Covid prevention measure, we would like to point out that our room cleaning service has always been impeccable, and has even been stepped up over the past two years, again as a Covid prevention measure, including multi-day quarantining between guests’ stays. Following your diagnosis, for example, your cabin was shut down and entirely fumigated, to protect our staff and other guests, including the other 26 people in your own group, from whom we received no complaints about service, meals or accommodation.

We stayed at this location for the 4 day, 3 night tour. I definitely recommend at least the 4-day trip, which means you have 2 full days to explore the rainforest (arriving the first day and departing the last day). We saw lots of incredible jungle plants and wildlife, with our knowledgable and helpful guide Hugo. The accommodations are very nice, although there is only electricity in the central lodge area. There is 4G reception in the central lodge area as well.

My wife and I visited June 6-8, 2021 and were the first two tourists to stay here since the Pandemic (had been 16 months and we were the only two at the resort). We flew to Puerto Maldonado, where Edwin met us at the airport then drove 45 minutes out of town to catch the boat ride down the Tambopata river. We spent two nights at the Tambopata Ecolodge, went on multiple day hikes, a night hike and boat ride where we saw lots of wildlife and unique fauna and flora. We even visited a local farm. It was super special to enjoy the beautiful and tranquil lodge. We're now wondering why we didn't stay longer. It was the perfect way to experience the Amazon rainforest, completely unique and authentic in every way. Highly recommend.
