Detailed Reviews
My wife and I spent two nights here in late August as part of a G Adventures tour. We loved every moment of our stay and were dissappointed only because we wish we could have stayed another night. It easily exceeded our expectations. The lodge is an eco lodge. So, as adverstised, there is no electricity in the rooms, but the main lodge building where the restaurant and bar are located does have electricity from 5-10 pm. We had a beautiful double bungalow (133A), but luckily for us there were no occupants in the other side of the bungalow. The rooms are powered by candle. Our room had 3 candles firmly secured into heavy bases along with a couple lighters. In addition, there were several wooden shelves along several of the walls to hold the candle up high in order to avoid an accidental knockover. As well, the bed and nightstands were pulled away from the wall and curtains to avoid any fires. We actually enjoyed the candle light. Along with our headlamp, we had more than enough light. .For us, the bungalow was the nicest place we stayed during our two weeks in Peru. We had a comfortable king sized bed, flush toilet, and huge and powerful shower with ample hot water. Like I said. Better than anywhere else we stayed in Peru. Most importantly, though, the entire bungalow was securely screened in so that no insects got inside. Very impressive! The walls are open (with a screen) so that we had ample breezes during our stay. The grounds are beautiful too. The food was delightful and ample, served buffet style. We were really impressed at how good the food was. The bar prices were very reasonable for where you are.
The best part of our stay, however, was our guide Louis. Louis was simply amazing. This guy had professorial knowledge like an encyclopedia. Whether it was during our our night time jungle walk, our daytime jungle hike, and our night time boat excursion there was nothing Louis did not know about any specific type of plant, tree, animal, insect, etc. His knowledge and passion for sharing it made a good trip great! We learned a tremendous amount thanks to Louis and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

My room was very clean and I didn’t see any critters in my room the entire stay… the latter is mostly down to guest behaviour as the room doors need to be kept shut at all times and don’t keep any food or snacks in your room. One guest kept loads of snacks in a drawer and food wrappers in their open bins thinking it would be ok but it just tempted critters to break in. There are bins in the main building where you can put your food trash. There is no electricity in the rooms but the solar showers were warm and there are plenty of candles and a lighter in the room. You share a roof with a neighbouring room, so if you are part of a group then request to be put in the room opposite them. The rooms are otherwise completely separate with individual front doors. There is no glass in the windows, just a sturdy mozzie mesh and you can hear the nature outdoors. Sent me straight to sleep and was a wonderful experience but if you dislike noise then you might need earplugs here! Otherwise it looks pretty much like a normal motel room. There is a mozzie net over the beds too. You can charge phones in the evening down at the main building. I’d still recommend bringing a portable charging device as quite often you might be busy with your phone/camera during the time slot for charging and if you miss it then you have no phone/camera! Surprisingly there was a phone signal down by the main building and river, so was not quite as cut off as I was expecting. The hammock outside the room was great to relax in. There is a stream a short walk away that you can paddle in and the friendly bar had plenty of chilled drinks and bottled water. The food was nice and there were short walks around the site you could go on unguided. The tours were great fun and we saw so much during 3 days… that said it’s still important to be realistic and do not expect them to track down a jaguar! Think more along the lines of caimans, monkeys, giant spiders and capybaras! I wish I could have stayed a bit longer.

I came here with Gadventures. I loved the boat ride (2 hours) to get there. Rooms were nice and comfortable. Somewhat rustic. Our tour guide was Elvis and he was very good and very funny. I'm so glad he was our guide. The night walk was interesting but our day trip was fantastic even with the pouring rain. Food was excellent. One note is to be careful about anything edible or even that smells (Soap) in your room. Myself and the person next to me battled a Large Rat all night and he damaged our packs and some clothing. I could see hole in the mesh where the hammock was on the deck and it seems that was the entry point for the rats. They left Feces in the showers and other areas. Be aware

Thank you NorthguyBC, for recommending our Tambopata Ecolodge to other travelers looking to experience a remote jungle location. It's important for us to know that you enjoyed your time with us in the Peruvian Amazon basin. Our staff are being trained now to ensure that all our guests understand food should not be kept in the cabins. Because our lodge is located in an authentic and remote rainforest setting, the forests we conserve and which surround our buildings are filled with Amazon wildlife. And, as we mention in an article on our website's blog, dated February 2019, of the estimated 430 mammal species found in the tropical and subtropical forests of the Amazon, the majority are rodents, ranging from tiny mice to giant capybara! Thank you again NorthguyBC for visiting us, and for recommending our Tambopata Ecolodge as a great place to stay and to enjoy excursions in the Amazon basin in the company of experienced and personable naturalist guides!!

What a way to finish Peru, this ecolodge is just perfect.
It's important to point out there is no A/C it's an eco lodge, you don't even have electricity all day, be sure you know what your going into, shower was solar powered and always nice and hot.
We stayed in bungalow 103b, it was clean, tidy and wonderful, when the jungle got a bit to hot it was nice to either head to the creek and cool off or shower then chill in a hammock, the sounds of the wildlife are just beautiful and I don't remember sleeping so well.
They don't have windows so if you're having noisy neighbors that could become a distraction but my partner and I were alone in the edge of the compound, for us it was a very romantic and intimate place to be.
It won't be for everyone but for the right people it's paradise

An excellent experience from start to finish. Our guide, Hugo, was a fountain of knowledge of all things Amazon. His passion for the wildlife was infectious. We saw three types of monkeys, three types of caiman, lots of different birds, big rodents, spiders and other insects. Hugo really did make our trip special. We were lucky enough to be in a small group, just ourselves and one other couple being guided for the whole trip by Hugo.
The lodge itself felt luxurious and secluded - we were greeted with fresh juice after the boat ride in. The rooms don't have electricity but the candles made it seem very romantic! Showers and toilets were great, and we weren't bothered by bugs at all. We were there during a cold snap and the extra blanket provided enough warmth for very comfortable sleeping.
The food was very simple (rice with every dinner) but also very tasty and plentiful. It was nice to be able to get a beer at the bar and either drink it on the bar terrace or take it back to your hammock.
Would 100% recommend!

My wife and I visited June 6-8, 2021 and were the first two tourists to stay here since the Pandemic (had been 16 months and we were the only two at the resort). We flew to Puerto Maldonado, where Edwin met us at the airport then drove 45 minutes out of town to catch the boat ride down the Tambopata river. We spent two nights at the Tambopata Ecolodge, went on multiple day hikes, a night hike and boat ride where we saw lots of wildlife and unique fauna and flora. We even visited a local farm. It was super special to enjoy the beautiful and tranquil lodge. We're now wondering why we didn't stay longer. It was the perfect way to experience the Amazon rainforest, completely unique and authentic in every way. Highly recommend.

Came here with a group tour for 2 nights. The place next to the river is great and the buildings and layout really good. The food, drink and service was very good - although it did take a long time at the bar!
The huts are very well laid out with very comfortable beds showers etc.
There were animals (mice and rats) that come in and ‘ravage’ your bags if you have any food (or smell of food) in your bags, so ensure you remove all traces and hang them up!
No electricity yet in the rooms and charging available for 4-6 hours a day in the bar.
Great tours and trips with the team, so fully endorse - 4 star only because of the animal ingress to the rooms which wasn’t emphasised enough when we arrived

I visited Tambopata ecolodge at the start of July with my friend and her parents. I loved every minute there. The hosts were very attentive and kind and our guide Armando was great. He knew so much about the surroundings, was a great laugh and joined us for dinner every night. It was a pleasure getting to know him and to hear the pride in his voice when he spoke about his community. The food was great and they catered for my vegetarian preference with ease. If you have binoculars I would recommend bringing some, as although Armando let us use his, it would have been great if I had a pair of my own. There was a good amount of activity to rest and down time, and I came away with a love of the area. We saw a variety of different insects, animals, and birds, and the lodge we stayed in was raised but was three walled so essentially we felt immersed in the rainforest.

Our guide Brayan was amazing! He was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. We went for a 3-night, 4-day trip where we stayed in the lodge for 2 nights and camped for 1. We highly recommend camping! We got to take a boat ride for a few hours to see the sunset and look for wildlife, ate delicious lomo saltado prepared by the crew, and then woke up early the next day to see the macaw clay lick- over 200 parrots, parakeets, and macaw! We were very impressed with the entire crew, the beauty of the Amazon, and all of the flora and fauna. We saw many species of birds, snakes, caiman, capybara, tarantula, frogs, and more. We will definitely be back in a few years!

No, sorry for delay
If you ask me, it is not necessary since the animals are rather shy and I doubt that any will bite you.
And yes, it is the lodge used by Gadventures.
