We stayed three nights and we had a great time. The pool is wonderful, very clean and with a great view, breakfast abundant and delicious despite not being of buffet style. The pousada is on top of a hill, beautiful views but you need to be fit to get there as there are 150 steps to reach it. In the morning it is ok going down to the beaches but at night it was a little hard as it is a very long stair! Apart from this the service was really good, everybody was very helpful to answer my questions despite a little language barrier as I don’t speak Portuguese. I liked the place and the hammock outside our room.

Pousada Colibri is a top quality family run business located only 5 mins walk away from the center of the island. Quietly tucked away on a hill top with a lush view on the sea and surrounded by stunning gardens!
Upon our arrival, we were welcomed to the accommodation by a friendly Pepe who told us everything we needed to know about how to navigate the island, and made us very welcomed all throughout our stay. Top customer service!
Furthermore, the accommodation was spacious and comfortable, and the stuff were helpful, providing us with everything we needed. The breakfast was exceptionally delicious and full of choices.

Overall, Pousada Colibri would be a perfect getaway for couples and families looking for a tranquil and relaxing time on the island with direct connections to the buzzy night life.

I stayed at this pousada for 3 days with friends and was very impressed. Beautiful location above Morro de São Paulo with great views, extremely friendly staff, very nice and well maintained rooms. And most importantly: fantastic breakfast! Every day, they would serve us different options for breakfast, super food quality, all served with love.
The pousada is located a bit off-the-beaten-track, far above, and requires climbing some 150 stair steps. Still: excellent location, in a few minutes, you are at the main square (but don't have all the noise). So excellent also for ecotourism.
Overall highly recommended, I would definitely go there again.

morro is packed with tons of hostels and pousadas, a lot of them with good reviews - so it can be hard to decide which place you actually book. i would suggest to go for this one if theres space available.

pousada colibri is located a bit off of all the main places in morro but you can walk there within like 10-20min. the beach side and "centre" of morro where everything happens can be a bit hectic so colibri is the perfect retreat while still being so close to everywhere you need to go.

we stayed in a 2-person bungalow which was very clean and well furnished, A/C worked perfectly fine, so did the fridge, shower, etc. from my experience a problem with bungalows often is that everything which is creeping around on the outside (in morro's case centipedes, GIGANTIC moths, ants, ...you name it) can easily find it's way inside. the bungalows in this pousada though are equipped with the common wooden windows but also sliding glass windows which allow you to seal your place so nothing can get in. many people probably dont care but for us central-europeans that was a big deal ;)

for breakfast, they don't have a buffet but prepary everything fresh in the morning, also with a bit of alteration for each day. you get like a ton of bread, cheese, fruits, sweets and coffee and im pretty sure that if for some reason you still feel hungry, you can ask always ask for more.

tania and pepe are very friendly and helpful, they take their time when you talk to them and need some advice on where to go, what to do, help with setting up transfers. etc. really good hosts!

be aware though that if for whatever reason you're having problems with walking up/down stairs this place might not be the best choice as there's only one way to get there and you'll have to take all these stairs. this only a side note for physically impaired ppl and we never found the stairs annoying or anything

100% recommended, don't think there's a better place to stay in morro!

Brilliant place to stay and relax.
Wonderful swimming pool, beautiful views, great breakfast and nice rooms.
Owners are friendly and very helpful.
The only hard thing was the 155 steps especially after a few drinks but it was worth it.

We spent four days at Pousada Colibri, three of the four days it poured rain. With that being said it was excellent. Breakfasts were delicious, fresh baking, good coffee and friendly staff. The Pousada we stayed in was cozy with a good shower and nice view. The matress was a little thin but still comfy enough to get good nights sleep. Upon arrival we were greeted at the airport by a "taxi" driver who carried our back packs up all those stairs, and wouldnt take a tip. On one of the rainy days we spent the afternoon in the restaurant area watching the rain with the horses and family of Marmosets. We were able to enjoy the sun and pool on the last day. Would definitely recommend this Pousada.

Very nice view and swimming pool, which is great for people spending the day at the pousada. However, it has a few things that are not great: 1) curtains are not stopping the sun so the light comes in at 5am, 2) you have to walk up 150 stairs to get there, which even doing it twice a day is quite a lot and not clearly spelt out in the guide, 3) breakfast was big but not buffet so we didnt eat part of the stuff because we didnt like the choice as we would have chosen differntly, 4) mosquitos are VERY present and a constant annoyance, even with the mosquito net.

The first thing you notice about the Pousada is that it is a hell of a climb up the steps, however you are rewarded with the amazing view from the top and it is a good way to get you daily exercise! Not good for those with an aversion to exercise or people with bad knees, or heart for that matter!

The owners are kind and helpful. They are on hand if needed but are not overbearing.

We had two rooms, the cheapest was simple with slightly musty sheets, flat pillow and a smelly mozzie net. Monkeys lived in the roof and made quite a noise, no problem with earplugs though and felt very exotic to have monkeys in your roof!

The other room was more expensive and was of a higher standard although the mozzie net still smelt of smoke/mustiness.

Breakfast was huge and always varied, a real highlight!

The place had a lovely atmosphere and it was nice to stay around the pool or read on the balcony in the hammock.

We spent some nice days on the beaches which were about 15 minutes walk, although this sounds short we never 'popped home' during the day as the hills and steps were off-putting!

Lots of restaurants to choose from, again around a 10-15 minute walk to most.

Wifi worked well generally. Nice bar/breakfast area with honesty bar where you wrote in the book what beers you had. Monkeys visited most days at breakfast.

We enjoyed our stay here and would return but would pay that bit more for the more expensive room.

We've travelled in many parts of the world and every so often you come across a real gem - Pousada Colibri is one of them.
The views are simply breathtaking and well well worth the 155 steps (we counted them) it takes to get there. The breakfasts were excellent, the bungalows spotlessly clean, the pool inviting and Marga and Helmut the perfect hosts.
From the Pousada you can walk to a near deserted beach and the shops and restaurants are within easy enough reach - ask my 9 year old who never complained once!
Thank you Carlos who carried our luggage in the wheelbarrow and showed us points of interest in the town.
Disappointment is impossible - make your booking!
