You sleep in the master house of one of the first historic farms in the area, but don't expect luxury, rather a weird and wonderful mixture of poor colonial settler estate and old style anglo upper class decor. Wine was served in metal cups, in a private dining room. All quite spooky, with no one around except some kind of... More

We spent 2 days in Estancia Viamonte and enjoyed every minute of it. We did a couple of hikes around the property and our 2-year-old got a hands-on lesson on lamb shearing. The guesthouse is cosy and we stayed in the larger bedroom usptairs, which is huge. It is a bit pricey, but I don't think it's more expensive than... More

Even though the place is quite old, it is well maintained and you are invited into a warm and cosy home. The all-inclusive package guarantees outstanding cuisine, great drinks and wine und superb service. This is a very historic place and if you meet Adrian for the pre-dinner drinks, he'll share a lot with you which helps to understand what... More

We enjoyed a couple of most pleasant days at Estancia Viamonte close to Rio Grande on our recent trip to Argentinian Patagonia and Fireland. The duenos (owners) Adrian an Simon recieved us like guests of the old days when every traveller was welcome on the estancias in the thinly populated South of the American continent. We chatted about the fascinatig... More

We found this estancia in a guidebook as we were driving from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia. It is just below Rio Grande, Argentina in Tierra del Fuego. It is about 3 hours from Ushuaia so someone who wants an extension trip if they're going to Antarctica, might consider staying here. It is run by the descendants of the original settlers... More
