My wife and I have stayed at many B&B's over the years and except for one they were all good experiences. But the Apex Inn beats them all hands down. We went to Watkins Glen for the Wine Festival and spent five days at the Apex. John took us to the festival and picked us up both days so we would not have to drive. Mary thinks of everything. (Grapes are cut in half to make them easier to stab with yoyr fork). The food was great every day. (Plan on gaining some weight). Mary offered to drive us to dinner at a restaurant at least 12 miles away and come back and pick us up. She also washed my wife's shirt to remove a red wine stain. The house is a 175 year old farm house that is restored to an incredible standard. Better than most new houses. The interior is decorated with a racing theme thourghout. Stay here if you want to experience the best that a B&B can offer.…
The only regret I have is not staying another night. My husband and I stayed at the Apex Inn for 2 nights so we could attend a weekend event at Watkins Glen International. You will feel comfortable immediately upon arrival. Mary and John are the most inviting and accommodating hosts you could ask for. We immediately felt like valued guests in their home. We relaxed by the firepit in the yard on their beautiful property during our "down time." We enjoyed a wonderful home cooked breakfast each morning before heading to the track. They were happy to accommodate our early schedule so breakfast was ready at 6:30AM. The town is only 5 miles away where there are numerous places to have a great dinner and take in the beauty of Seneca Lake. It is clear that Mary and John know exactly what a guest needs (and then some!). The rooms are large, modern, immaculate and extremely comfortable. I appreciated the common area to sit and have coffee before "turning in" for the evening. There is so much more I could share. They simply thought of everything. Thank you Mary and John for making us feel like such welcome guests. We look forward to the day we can return. Alane and George Bakalyar…
We have stayed at many B&Bs around the world and this is one of the best. Mary and John are wonderful hosts that have thought of everything. The country setting is very peaceful. Mary cooks a wonderful breakfast. We would definitely stay there again.
The B&B was immaculate, we had never stayed in a place so clean, be it hotel or B&B. Breakfasts were delicious and you never went away hungry. John and Mary were the most gracious, accommodating, and attentive hosts you could ever ask for. The area has so much to offer, countless wineries and sights to see. If you are thinking of staying in the Finger Lakes... this B&B should be at the very top of your list!
First time visit to Watkins Glen and our first B&B experience. Stayed at Apex for 2 nights. Nice peaceful location, great delicious breakfast, nice clean comfortable and very accommodating room. John and Mary were friendly and very welcoming. Everything was just perfect!
We were doing an HPDE at the Glen and stayed at the inn for our second time - another wonderful stay! Our room (The Boot) and the entire inn was extremely clean, and there are effective safety procedures. Mary's breakfasts were delicious including a take-away option that worked well for early track times. The inn is quiet, and the amenities are luxurious. Mary and John are excellent hosts who truly care about their guests and strive to provide anything you might need or want. We can't wait to return next year.
If we could give a rating higher than 5 we would. This B&B is absolutely THE BEST! Mary and John are the perfect hosts! Very personable and always trying to make your stay comfortable and memorable. The room was immaculate and kept up every day with fresh towels and supplies. Every attention to detail is here, from the sound machine on the nightstand, the cocktail glasses and refrigerator, the make-up amenities, magnified mirror, hair dryer, to the oh so soft throws for snuggling in the lounge chair. There is nothing you could possibly want! Breakfast each morning was made to your order placed the previous day. And the breakfasts were hearty and filling. Mary really spoils her guests. We loved the quiet of the countryside yet being close enough to town for meals and sightseeing. And for race car fans, the international race track is just down the road. This was truly an amazing 3 days/ 4 nights and we will surely recommend this inn to our friends and family planning to visit the Finger Lakes region. Look forward to staying again in the future. Thanks Mary and John for the wonderful experience!…
Apex Inn, Mary and John for for the win! The Apex has been a consistently great experience for my visits to WGI - close, convenient and breakfast served before tech (try finding that at another B&B)……
I was at the track for a couple of days. The room was very clean and well appointed in a racing fashion, the bed was very comfortable, the on-suite bath room excellent. Breakfast was ready at 6AM and was very hardy and delicious. Mary and John were excellent host and saw to my needs.
