Detailed Reviews
I just wanted to confirm that The Apex continues to exceed expectations. Despite all the the additional difficulties COVID protocol brings to the table, Mary and John have conquered it all. The rooms continue to be spotless and Mary has found ways to work around her "normal" breakfast routine, where all guests would get to eat and chat together in the Pits. She now takes an order from you the evening before and makes separate meals for her guests that are delivered piping hot to your room. We are already planning for next year's visit. Thank you again for your wonderful care of us!

Thanks Terri and Tony. I was great to see some familiar racing faces. Yes, this has been a bit of a challenge but we can work through anything. I do appreciate your kind words and know that to me they mean a lot. I hope you and your boys stay healthy and safe. Look forward to seeing you next year and let's see who gets the third room?? Will Bill and Sue make the journey? Hmm. Take care and again thanks for your business. All the Best Mary, John and Mojo

Mary and John definitely go above and beyond. My first interaction with Mary was around 8:30 or 9pm when I arrived late due to T-storms and traffic with a 28' trailer. As soon as she saw me pull in, she came out to help me back the trailer into a safe location and offered to help me with my gear. I then called her roughly 30 minutes later to ask if she knew of a place that I could still order food for delivery and she happily gave me 2 or 3 options, which were spot on! The following days were equally enjoyable! Breakfast was delicious and always on time. The rooms were spotless and very comfortable. And if you are a motorsport fan of any kind, you will truly appreciate the way they have decorated each room with it's own theme. This is coordinated down the the cabinets in the bathroom being faced with red metal, as if they were a toolbox cabinet. It's abundantly clear that Mary and John spent a TON of time and effor to make their B&B special as well as considering how their guests' experiences would benefit from it. When I was leaving, both Mary and John ensured I enjoyed my stay and thanked me for visiting. A few hours later, Mary texted me to thank me again and ensure I had got on the road safely. My overall experience was above 5 stars and I cannot say enough good things about The Apex Inn as well as John and Mary! When I come back later in the season or next year, I definitely will not stay anywhere else!

Thank you for such a kind and thoughtful review. I know first hand how difficult trailer parking can be with only one person. I am so glad you enjoyed your food since you got in later than expected. Yes, we do enjoy racing and it shows in how we detailed the rooms. Even the bathroom floor was chosen to represent asphalt. It was great having you stay with us and we hope to welcome you back next year. Just remember to book ahead. Stay healthy and enjoy the ride. Mary, John and Mojo

We stayed a couple of nights at the Apex Inn and we absolutely loved it!
Mary and John are amazing hosts, so kind and welcoming! The room is beautiful and perfectly clean, with everything we might need. We felt totally safe thanks to amazing efforts put in place to respond to COVID with extra sanitizing and safety measures. The breakfast is delicious!!!
Watkins Glen is a great place to visit and I would absolutely recommend staying at the Apex Inn!

We are so glad you enjoyed your time here in Watkins Glen. The Finger Lakes have so much to offer. We try to keep our guests feeling safe and comfortable knowing the extra steps we perform to sanitize your room during this pandemic. I'm glad we could ease your mind and allow you time away that was relaxing. Look forward to seeing you again. Warm regards, Mary, John and Mojo

Apex Inn is the perfect place to unwind and relax after a day of fun. Mary and John are so hospitable, their advice is on point, and the breakfast is delicious, home cooked, and plentiful (we skipped lunches- more room for wine and cheese). It felt like being at the home of a loving relative and not a hotel. Room was immaculate and the location was close to everything we wanted to do (wineries, petting zoos, glass museum) - keeping in mind everything is a drive anyway and it was nice to be in the peace and quiet of nature. Would definitely recommend!

Very accommodating, and openly following the CDC recommendations. Our first overnight stay since the pandemic. Not knowing what to expect, at the entrance a sign says, face mask required and other CDC guidelines posted. Inside everything was spotless as was during our previous stay. Breakfast was very interesting. As was told at check in, breakfast will be brought up to our room with a separate tray for each guest. In our room was a listing of breakfast items available for that day. A sheet was there for each guest to make their selection and the time you want breakfast brought to your room. In our room, we had four tray tables and two chairs where we set up an eating area. Our breakfast came on time, starting with coffee and such followed by freshly prepared food exactly as selected. More than enough to eat. We miss the buffet, but under the circumstances everything was great. Thanks Mary and John. We enjoyed our visit with you.

How great this night worked out for you both. You got to spend time with family, friends, the outside and some wine. It almost makes the world seem normal again. How kind you are to take the time to write such a nice review. Thanks also for stopping by with an heirlom vase from your homeland, flowers from your garden and 2 cans of Lysol very much appreciated. You both are just so nice. Until we meet again I wish you both good health and stay safe. Mary, John and Mojo

My boyfriend and I had an amazing stay at the Apex Inn! The inn is located 5 minutes from the downtown Watkins Glen area, making it the perfect place to stay if you’re going to the state park, or the wineries around Seneca Lake. This was out first time staying at a bed & breakfast, and our stay absolutely exceeded our expectations. Mary and John are remarkably kind and beyond accommodating. The inn is impeccably clean, and the rooms are up to date and have everything you need. Snacks and water are also left in the room, and they’re replenished daily. Mary is also a great cook, and her breakfast menu could easily compete with any restaurant. I would highly recommend staying here, if you’re visiting the Watkins Glen area!

Mary and John are great Inn Keepers. The Apex Inn is spotless and much attention is given down to the smallest detail to make sure their guests are comfortable and have everything they need. The racetrack track theme and all the Watkins Glen photos are great. The breakfast is delicious and the kitchen is well stocked with snacks 24/7. The Inn is less than half a mile from Watkins Gen race track and a short drive into town. It is also a great location to access the wineries, breweries and hiking around Seneca Lake. I highly recommend and will definitely be returning!

We recently stayed with Mary & John at the Apex Inn and it was fabulous!! We wanted to get away for a couple days but still stay safe in NYS. We booked the stay 2 dats before we arrived and were pleased at how serious our hosts were about keeping us safe, the room and all public spaces were extremely clean and tidy! The decorations were well suited to the racing theme and nicely done.
The breakfast changed daily and one day was as delicious as the next! The breakfast was delivered to our room due to COVID restrictions but it was hot and right on time each day.
I would absolutely recommend this inn for a stay in Watkins Glen!!
Thanks for a very nice get away!!

Thanks so much for taking the time to write a review. We're glad you felt comfortable traveling to our Inn. Covid has changed a lot, but not the hospitality we still work hard to achieve for each guest. We might all be wearing our masks, but we are smiling at each of you. Stay healthy and safe, all the best. Mary, John and Mojo

The rooms look like they are brand new - everything is clean and in great shape. We went during COVID (October 2020) and they did a fantastic job with breakfast - served in our room to order! We felt very safe and had no concerns about COVID. Located near the race track, it was only a few minute drive to downtown. Mary recommended several restaurants and we went to the Thai Elephant - really good food (and also BYOB which made it very reasonable). Not a quaint building but still a great place to stay.

The Apex Inn exceeded all of our expectations. Everything is top notch, the owners are very detail orientated in all aspects, cleanliness could not be beat, comfort of the guests was never compromised and great breakfasts never a disappointment. Quality snacks available too in your room and more in the breakfast nook.
The AC worked nice and quiet, plenty of hot water for showers, fridge in the room worked. Comfortable bed, great pillows.
Wonderful decor second to none. I say again everything top notch.
We were there for the parade of classic race cars that went by our accommodations from the race track to town and the owners even brought chairs to the roadside for us.
A refreshing change especially in these trying times.
They really named their establishment right, Apex means top and they are at the pinnacle of the hospitality industry.
