Chieftain's considerable charm and value were more than enof compensation for the fact that it is an older motel and definitely a bit worn around the edges. It's very clean and tidy, however. We stayed 2 nights, and there was always morning coffee and danish to start us on our way. Indeed, one morning, the owner/manager Theresa had just baked... More

this is a lovely, old-style motel, privately-owned out of a 50s movie with good rates and a lovely view of Seneca lake, perhaps the best in the area at any price.. rooms not flashy but clean and comfortable

This is an older style motel, very clean and accommodating. Just outside of town but convenient for anything in the area, including downtown and the track. Decent parking, not much in the way of breakfast. They are pet friendly! They fill up fast on race weekends, so book early.

I stayed in a one bed room on July 12 thru 13 for fingerlakes wine festival. Our room was just as expected, front desk woman was so honest and kind, told us they weren't as updated but were clean as she cleans them herself and Ive never been offered breakfast at any previous motel, this one had coffee, juice and... We stayed here twice within a week. The owner and/or manager was friendly as were the other guests that we met. The room was large, spotless, and well-maintained. The bed was a bit firmer than I prefer and I thought the price was a little high for a basic, but nice, roadside motel. The prices are quite a bit higher... More

We recently stayed at the chieftain motel in Watkins glen over race weekend. We had a blast and hiked Watkins glen state park. The rooms were very affordable and clean. Julie that works there was the best by suggesting things for us to do in the area. You wont find anywhere else with that kind of service and for the... More

It's pretty far out of town (about 4 miles), so there's no easy access to food, shopping or entertainment. It is pretty quiet, though - up on a hill, but the houses across the street block a clear view of the lake. The room was a good size, light and bright, very clean. There was a mini-fridge and microwave. The... More

We selected this property because they were dog friendly and I liked the motel concept with individual room doors opening to the outside. The rooms are dated but very clean with fresh linens and towels. The motel management were very nice and very receptive to our dog. The coffee was ready at 7am with some packaged muffins and I thought... More

My husband and I needed a get-away and this place did the trick nicely! Very friendly staff with a huge funky dog and probably the cleanest place we've ever stayed at! We did some hiking at the State Park (beautiful!) and visited Glenora Winery which is a 5 min drive down the road. The room was not fancy by any... More

I found this motel via AAA triptik and was very pleasantly surprised. The room was very spacious (as was the bathroom) and VERY quiet. In fact, out of several of the motels I used on my vacation through NY, this was one of the better ones! I would recommend this motel to anyone looking for a nice room for a... More
