This establishment is kept beautifully and offers a view of Lake Seneca. The proprietor, Jim and his family are spectacular hosts and were able to accommodate every need and advised on local places to go. The rooms were clean and well serviced. Despite the fact that this B&B was booked solid, you couldn't hear anything from nearby rooms.
The included breakfasts were delicious and the kitchen was great, although we ate out every night.
My favorite part of this establishment was the front porch complete with rocking chairs, chaises and comfortable couches. In the evenings we sat and shared drinks with the other occupants who were some of the nicest people I have ever met anywhere.
It is an easy walk into Watkins Glen from the front door and we went to several restaurants in town. It is an easy drive around the lake and several wineries are easily reached from here. Watkins Glen State Park is in walking distance of Jim's front door.
This offered us one of our most relaxing stays with no hassles at all. We travelled during Covid restrictions in NY State and felt safe at every moment except when we went to Corning to the museum - many unmasked people with no distancing. The wineries and other attractions were much more mindful of masking.
We dined at several restaurants but three deserve special mention. Stonecat on the other side of the lake had a spectacular view of the lake at sunset and divine food. Our waitress, Natalie, was a blast. The food was abundant and delicious. I'd go again if I am in the area. Ports offered the most refined meal but one appetizer stood out - the Gopchang cauliflower. The ambiance was great and other people we advised during this trip thought it was fantastic also. Finally, in town, for the tapas fan was Grafts. It was cordial, lively and the food was excellent. Our server was also a professor at SUNY Corning! She was perfect and knew her stuff.
One last word, there were cheese tastings which were disappointing - not an upstate NY strong suit.

We stayed 2 nights at the Hudson Manor B & B while visiting Watkins Glen on our way to Maine. The location was very good, close to town and to the Watkins Glen State Park. Jim, our host, was wonderful. He was very social and provided us accurate information about the surrounding area including the Finger Lakes wine region. His wife created wonderful, homestyle breakfasts and the conversations at the dining table were fun filled. The room was very nice and we enjoyed sitting either on our rooftop deck, overlooking the lake as well as in the gazebo. We also played a board game on the large, covered front porch during a mild rain. Definitely recommend this B & B!

We had a lovely stay at Hudson Manor Bed and Breakfast to celebrate our 20 year wedding anniversary. We stayed in the Lamoka room and were very comfortable. We loved having access to the kitchenette located right off of our room and our own private deck with a view of the lake. Jen cooked us a fantastic breakfast, and we enjoyed chatting with the other guests each morning. The B&B is located very close to the downtown area, Watkins Glen State Park (a must-see!), and the Seneca wine trail.

We stayed at the Hudson Manor from October 12-14, 2020. As noted in other favorable reviews, Hudson Manor has many pluses:. the b&b was very clean, our room was large and the location is excellent. The four available rooms were all rented each night. Based upon staying at many b&bs, the price was high.
The common areas are insufficient for the number of guests. The living room, where the only tv is located, has a sofa and two chairs. The common snack/kitchen has a small table with four chairs. Furthermore, there is only one old fashion ice tray in the freezer and guests are expected to wash any glasses/cups/dishes they use. There was no warm breakfast. Not even bagel, fruit or cereal boxes. Furthermore, a sign said juice and snacks cost extra. Jim, our host, did a fine job of checking us in but we never saw him again during our stay. He did provide his cell phone if we needed assistance. On the same trip we stayed at other b&bs that staggered the breakfast times and provided a full warm breakfast.

Response from Jim Somerville, Owner at Hudson Manor Bed and Breakfast

Hi Bruce, Thank you for taking the time to give us a review. Unfortunately, I cannot make our common areas any larger than the rooms we have available. We do our best to be transparent about our home and have photos of all our areas on our website so this can be researched before guests choose to stay with us. One of our unique amenities is a full guest kitchen upstairs with stove, microwave, Keurig machine, refrigerator, etc. Most bed and breakfasts do not have a guest kitchen at all. Also, our 24'x24' deck off of the kitchen has a table for six with a canopy and another table for four to provide an additional sitting and eating area. As displayed literally front and center on our website it is stated that due to Covid-19 mandates we are not able to serve our normal breakfast. There was breakfast options available as I explained at check in. There were complimentary hot cereal packets, bagels, and muffins at your disposal in the guest kitchen as well as coffee, tea, and juice. As with many other businesses, we all do things differently based on our facilities, staffing, and the reopening plan required by New York State. I can only speak to what we must do according to the plan we submitted. The sign and picture on the mini fridge in the guest kitchen offering snacks and drinks for an extra cost is actually our daughter's little business, "Maya's fridge". She makes a little bit of money selling soda, water, and snack bags for $1 per can/ bottle /chip bag. I believe juice costs a little extra because it is more expensive to buy. We do this to teach her principles of business and she is required to keep a ledger of expenses and profits. She is responsible for stocking and purchasing the items she sells. From her profits she is allowed to spend 10%, she must give 10% away, and save 80% for college. I am not sure what you were expecting as far as me seeing or interacting with you, especially during a time of a health pandemic. At check in I provide all my guests with numerous eating and activity recommendations and always offer my cell number in order to assist them with directions, information, or any other assistance they would like or need. I also make it a point that I am happy to help in any way I can during their stay and not to hesitate contacting me on my cell phone. Also, as explained at check in, as an added safety and health precaution in our reopening plan we would not be refreshing your room daily as we would do during a normal season. I try not to be intrusive as a general rule and even more so during this odd time but, admittedly, I am more visible during normal times. I would have been happy to visit with you had I known you wanted to chat. I certainly did not mean to make you feel ignored or neglected during your stay and for that, I apologize. Regarding our prices, I can tell you that our prices are average compared to other bed and breakfasts in the area and have been since we began here over six years ago. Some cost more, some cost less. I do know that none have a lake view like we do and few have the outside guest spaces we offer. Also, being a short walk to the village, while not being in the village, is a convenience few others share. Considering all amenities and compared with others in the area we feel our prices are fair. I sincerely hope you had an enjoyable time in Watkins Glen while you were here and we would very much like to have you back in the future when things are back to normal. Cheers, Jim

We had a wonderful 3 night stay at Hudson Manor in Watkins Glen. Jim and Kristine are lovely hosts, very warm and welcoming. Hudson Manor is a century home with a wrap around porch and a view of Seneca Lake. It is an easy walk or a one-minute drive into downtown Watkins Glen. Our room was spacious and immaculate. Breakfasts were delicious, and Jim was truly helpful in recommending parks, wineries, and restaurants in the area . There is a kitchen with a fridge and a Keurig which was very convenient. Favorite wineries were Lakewood and Atwater, favorite restaurants were Graft and Nickel's BBQ (Jerlando's got rave reviews also, we just ran out of time!). We hope to come back and would definitely stay here again. Thank you Jim and Kristine for a great getaway!

This was our first BnB experience and it was well worth it! Beautiful property. Nice room and private bathroom. Great view of Seneca lake. We really enjoyed sitting and visiting with the other guests at breakfast (which was a wonderful homemade 3 course breakfast). The innkeepers gave great recommendations for places to go and see and eat. It was a much more personal and welcoming experience than going to a hotel and it made the difference for us!

Very beautiful B&B; owners made us feel very welcome. Gave us great advice on what to see and do while we were there. Sat at one large table for breakfast which gave us the opportunity to get to know the other couples who were there which was very enjoyable. Would definitely recommend!

Our first time staying at a B&B and we loved it. Room was a good size with private bathroom and a little deck. Kitchenette on 2nd floor for coffee or a snack with refrigerator, microwave and Keruig. Close to everything - we walked the 10 minutes to downtown, 5 minute drive to Watkins Glen State Park entrance, lots of restaurants and wineries close by. Kristines breakfasts were so good. Beautiful view of the lake from front porch.

We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at the Hudson Manor Bed and Breakfast. Innkeepers Jennifer & and Adam Lyon were excellent hosts. Our room was very comfortable. The morning breakfasts that were served were excellent. The decor of the manor was very charming.

The view from the comfortable chairs from the porch were breathtaking of Seneca Lake and the surrounding hills.

Jennifer and Adam were very knowledgeable about the local activities. They really treated us like family in their home. Will definitely return in the future.
