We were seated in the terrace off the side road to the restaurant which had nice views. The meal was one of the best of our holiday we had leg of lamb perfectly cooked and potatoes Boulangeres. Followed by a dessert du jour which was the best chocolate dessert ever.

You have to see St-Circ-Lapopie to believe it. Unreal place. The Auberge is located right in the middle of this medieval village. Friendliest owners ever, and nothing is too hard for them. Good English speakers but they will also acknowledge and work with "Allo allo" versions of French! ( :-) ). Small but clean and bright rooms with ensuites. A little noisy from other rooms, but nothing outragious and it IS a converted 15th (or thereabouts) century house.... Great food, good breakfast, everything in walking distance. Highly reccomended!

This little family owned inn sits in a lovely location in a charming hilltop town. It’s a place to relax and enjoy walking the hilly streets with its quaint buildings. Rooms are small with newly remodeled modern bathrooms. There is not much to do here which is part of its charm. The hotel offers free parking up the hill in the village parking lot. Breakfast is basic but good. WiFi does not work in the rooms, only on the main floor and the patio. There are several dining options in town. We have stayed here 3 different times over the past 20 years and continue to return for the peace and quiet during a busy trip.

Yes I agree the approach is not easy and best to get there in the daylight but try for late afternoon so the tour buses have gone. Yes unbelievably they manage to get coaches up there. The auberege is perfect given the setting and the rooms in keeping with the charming old village. It was a hot day and and air conditioning would be welcome but possibly it is felt not to be in keeping. Breakfast was simple but good quality ingredients. I would certainly recommend for anyone wanting to sample a night at St Cirq Lapopie. A wonderful experience

We had a stressful approach in our rental car, since the roads are narrow and steep approaching this storybook-picturesque town, so I recommend that you arrive in full daylight in order to navigate the complicated parking lay-out, which seems to geared to handle summer crowds and huge tour buses. The parking made sense once we spoke with the hotel host (really a guest house or inn, very small), but we had already parked park away, in the wrong lot, had to trek down to the inn, return to the car, move it, get the pass, return that to the car, etc. Don’t even think about driving a large car into the village! narrow, medieval lanes. Thankfully, we were off-season, and even in high season, this tourists tend to be daytrippers here, much like Mont St Michel. Nighttime strolling the steep streets is incredible! Views from the higher look-out points are spectacular!
