Located in the Aveyron region, the drive into the valley can be misleading as the rugged road caused us to wonder if we made a wrong turn. After a dozen kms, the chateau hove into view with the descent to the river absolutely mesmerising. Belcastel is an enchanting area with stone architecture with the hotel an epistle to fine living.... More

A small 7 room hotel by the Aveyron river with it's very own Michelin starred restaurant in the little village of Belcastle (we were told the permanent population was 29) + Rooms are very comfortable with all modern amenities and conveniences. + Michelin starred restaurant with simply stunning food. We thought the food itself easily rivaled many 2-starred restaurants, but... More

This should be kept secret but that would be indulgent. The village of Belcastel nestles on a horseshoe bend of the Aveyron River just west of Rodez; the hotel/restaurant is on the north bank and to get to the rooms you have to cross a wonderful C15th bridge. These are modern, well appointed and with 2 bathrobes each a sense... More

I should be keeping this place to myself, but everyone deserves such fabulous memories, I suppose . The charming small hotel is opposite the restaurant, just over the Roman bridge that spans the stream, in the shadow of the castle - magical

My dad kept telling me for a few years that I had to go there, I always trust his jugment on food but got lazy on this one as it is kind of lost in the middle of nowhere. Ha! I should have went earlier, we went for my parents 30th anniversary and good lord they deserve those 2 Michelin... More

Driving through the rolling farmland on the way to Belcastel you wonder how there could be anything interesting hidden out there. Then you spiral down a tightly-wound road and find yourself in a magical village of brown stone dominated by a beautifully restored castle on the hill above. (Check the biography of M.Pouillon, by the way, if you want an... More

Stunning location along side the River Aveyron. The room is nice, not exceptional but the setting is beautiful. Walk along the river and up to the castle is very interesting. But the real reason to stay over night is to go to the unbelievably good restaurant at the hotel.

The setting for this is ideal and you do feel like you are stepping back in time. We ordered the breakfast which was generous and delicious. We had not expected to eat at the restaurant but when we arrived it was the only thing open. The service was excellent and the food good if you like that kind of thing... More

Very clean and well sized rooms, great view on to river, great location next to bridge, free private parking next to door, most importantly fantastic huge and diverse breakfast laid on by very friendly lady in garden in sun - all really great as part of a wedding party group. Only downside was restaurant did not open until following day... More

Everything about this hotel/restaurant is first class. I booked 4 months in advance and I could only get a basic room at 100Euros/night, which was not a problem in this gorgeous location. We came to see the beautiful tiny town of Belcastel and eat in the restaurant, which in itself is worth a detour. Instead of staying 4 nights in... More
