A small Relais & Chateaux hotel just off the medieval bastide square in Mirepoix. Parking on the street was no problem. Pleasant accomodating staff. The room was huge; a living room and nice bedroom with very high beamed ceilings. They supply beverages, including a half bottle of Bordeaux gratis, and have a small refrigerator in the room. Right across a... More

A step back in time but expecting, perhaps, a period appropriate refit. Our arrival was met with lots of help and genuine service by two welcoming members of staff. We were shown to a spacious room ( over the dining area, so noisy ) and a lot of room to navigate. The bathroom had both a huge tub and a... More

Right off the town square of this village from about 1300 is the wonderful old chateau hotel Relais Royal. The owner, Rogier, has beautifully updates the old building, retaining all the original characteristics. The public rooms are well appointed and inviting, with antiques and period pieces appropriate for this French countryside chateau. Our room, a standard room with no upgrade... More

This small hotel had nice old world touches, including exposed timbers in the plaster wall of our very spacious room, and a lounge for drinks before dinner that was straight out of the 19th century. Our room faced the back, over a small swimming pool, but the rooms facing front should be equally quiet because they overlook a courtyard that... More

Travelled to France from UK for a family wedding. Mirepoix is a beautiful old town in the South of France. Our Hotel was recommended by our travel agent and did not disappoint. We were shown to a large, comfortable bedroom with a huge ensuite bathroom, it was like stepping back a few centuries in time, with oak beams, shuttered windows... More

This is a small hotel which is, in some ways, stuck in a time warp. Set around a courtyard, all rooms have high ceilings and oak beams, the bedroom floors have original (sometimes loose) tiles and there is an elegant staircase and library. One expects to see characters in C18 costume in the corridors. Yet, there is also a spacious... More

Intimate, elegant, romantic and lovely the Relais Royal is all and more. Our room was quite large with high ceilings, a stone floor and well appointed. A little more closet or hanging space would have been helpful. I was excited to see a Nespresso machine, although the hotel ran out of pods the second day. However they were happy to... More

I spent last week at this beautiful hotel for a holiday with my extended family. Because we were such a large party (19!) we had the hotel completely to ourselves. Roger is a wonderful host and made us all feel so at home from the moment we arrived - nothing was too much trouble and we all felt like we... More

Myself and my girlfriend stayed in this lovely Hotel, after reading all the positive reviews on line. We had booked a large room and had thought we would splash out a bit as it was going to be my girlfriends birthday around that time. On arriving we were greeted by the owner who was very helpful, carrying my girlfriends bag... More

Mirepoix is a beautiful medieval fortified town with very impressive half timbered buildings and a magnificent covered arcade. A short walk from the large central Place du Marché is the Relais Royal where my husband and I spent three nights while touring "Cathar country". Located in a historic mansion which has been lovingly restored by the current owners, Relais Royal... More
