Kasenyi Safari Camp is strategically located on the rim of lake Bunyampaka in the Kasenyi savannah of Queen Elizabeth National Park. The camp has an elevated dining structure that is meticulously thatched. The tents are on platforms with a thatched canopy roof. There are four tents all with en-suite bathrooms, spacious living areas & private decks. Many animals frequent the camp during day & at night. Lion prides, hippo, leopard, buffalo, elephant, waterbuck, kob, hyena & wart hog are frequently seen. The night comes alive with sounds of hyenas howling & lions roaring.
The Lodge was built in 2013 by Phillip, an original Ugandan guy. He lived and worked in the US and than came back to built that unique place. His passion and love for this project you can see and feel everywhere. It’s starts with the people, which are so so kind and professional. Always smiling and also they are interested in the guest an that they feel 120% Good. After the first night it felt like being part of this amazing family.
As I said the lodge was built in 2013 and opened in 2015. However it still looks all perfect and new and they regularly renovate everything.
The food is always fresh and nice mix of Ugandan food and international cuisine.
In this lodge you really get the great bush experience. In the night a lot of animals crossing the lodge and you can hear many of them. But we never felt scared. The lodge have a professional team of Rangers and they escorting you in night and early mornings to the room. So all is 100% safe but it also give you the opportunity to see Hippos or big animals around after dinner.
Highly recommended to visit and stay at Kasenyi Safari Camp.
The fantastic thing is also Philipp (the owner) is passionate Lion conservator. So with staying there you can also support a little bit the Lions conservation.
Thanks again to the full Kasenyi Safari Cam Family! All the best for all of you 💚

The location overlooking the salt lake is very good and the camp has very large covered tents with spacious bathroom and large terrace. The kitchen is extremely good and on the first evening we had dinner by the fire with lanterns lovingly decorated at a long table. It was a great stay and is highly recommended.

Arriving at Kasenyi Safari Camp is already an experience filled with game (buffaloes, hippos, Water Bucks, Warthogs etc..) AND the beautiful Mt. Rwenzori Ranges ushering you.
The welcome received by the the team was enough to soothe the long 6 hours’ drive away.
The culinary delights were a thing of pleasure. I personally enjoyed the barbecue goat and the salsa salad. Imagine a five course pleasure!!!
The host, Mr. Kiboneka is on ground to personally speak to guests and he gave us the best treatment - including recommendation of places to visit (some of which I’d never seen even after visit Queen Elizabeth National game Park several times). Thank you Philip!
We camped out in tents and the provision for campers is very considerate with a hot shower and clean toilets. The rooms are also comfortable and neatly laid out in separate / private spaces.
Overall, I left a happy human ready to continue facing the world.
A must visit while in Kasese.

Despite the global Covid pandemic and low number of people travelling, Kasenyi Safari Camp was open, clean and ready to receive tourists. The camp offers stunning views on the lake Bunyampaka (with hundreds of flamingoes), and the rooms are beautiful, with comfortable large beds and plenty of hot water in the shower. We were a bit disappointed by the variety/quantity of animals in Queen Elizabeth (compared with other parks we visited in Africa), but perhaps we were just unlucky this time!
The staff, like everywhere in Uganda, was very kind and friendly. A special mention to Philip, the owner of the camp, who was incredibly helpful and reactive to help us while we had forgotten our personal keys when leaving the camp. A huge thank you to him!!!

Kasenyi was by far the worst of the 10 lodges where we stayed. The lodges are in need of repair; it's just run down. Nearly all wood needs stain or paint. The deck off our tents had nail pops and rotten wood. Maybe that's why there are no chairs on the deck. The server, Ruth, not one time said please or thank you. Nor did she open our $50 bottle of wine, nor pour it, nor ever ask how our food was. It took 25 minutes to get a cup of tea at dinner. With only two tables in use, the services should have been far better. The lodge is stocked with items brought from Sam's Club in the US, so limited local flavor. The chef, Williamson, has the best smile and is super friendly. But there seemed to be a lot of confusion over what a vegan does not eat. Tip: order his potatoes at breakfast. Williamson as well as the staff who escorted us to/from our tents were the only positive in this overpriced lodge. Lastly, I want to say that Phillip, the owner, greeted us and immediately asked about vaccination status. We were all wearing masks and following SOPs for safety. 2 out of 4 of us are vaccinated. Phillip's response was an unwanted, condescending lecture on epidemiology and vaccines. He was pompous during our stay. Typically the manager bids farewell to guests upon departure. I had planned to tell Phillip in person about the many shortcomings of his lodge. But Phillip stayed in his office as we were leaving which I felt was an intended insult. Stay somewhere else. It's not worth the money.

Stayed here for 2 nights with 2 adults & 2 teens. Exciting experience to sleep among the sounds of hippos and hyenas while feeling safe and comfortable. Food was very good. Staff was very kind and attentive — they helped us celebrate his birthday with a special cake and surprise sundown party. All were happy here.

Beautiful location with view of the salt lake. The safari tents are equipped with everything necessary, but are a bit outdated. The food was good. We were able to enjoy the dinner/Breakfast outdoors on the terrace on open sky.
The staff was sometimes very unmotivated and did not know what to do. The drinks prices were exorbitant. We ordered a bottle of wine for 150,000 Uganda shillings, which was supposedly no longer available. We were then offered a wine for 200'000! Only after asking several times was the original amount accepted.

My mom and I were fortunate enough to spend two nights at Kasenyi while traveling through Queen Elizabeth. I cannot recommend this lodge enough! Being right outside QENP we had so many animals that wandered through the camp—including a hippo that came by during dinner one night! The tents are so unique, our tent was incredibly large with a thatched roof and a gorgeous balcony facing the lake. The staff at Kasenyi could not have been nicer, going out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The laundry included was such a great plus! The food was also delicious and plentiful, and we really appreciated that they actually served Ugandan food! Our final night the owner arranged a bush dinner as a surprise for the guests which was such an incredible experience that we will never forget. The night hyena safari was so cool too! The only feedback I’d give is to either provide a fan in the tents and/or screen the doors so they can be left open as it gets warm during the day (but was very comfortable at night for sleeping).

Kasenyi Safari Camp was one of the best experiences I've ever had. It's well within Queen Elizabeth National Park overlooking the Bunyampaka salt lake and surrounded by wildlife (hippos, hyenas and lions could be heard at night). The tent is spacious with a big comfortable bed, a good shower, and a raised decking area overlooking the lake. The staff were so incredibly kind and accommodating, and really went out of their way to make my stay extra special. Lunch and dinner was delicious, and a late dinner was even kindly served after a night game drive. I plan to visit again.

Kasenyi is a gem directly adjacent to the Queen Elizabeth National park directly overlooking the crater salt lake. Accommodation tents are strategically located with in the savanna grassland and shrubs but very minimal disruption to the environment so that the wild animals move freely both day and night in and out of camp. The experience of Buffaloes, hippos and hyenas getting to close proximity to the tents in the night is highly exhilarating and priceless. The host is exceptionally passionate about wild life and nature conservation, with professional staff who are genuinely passionate about their roles The meals are amazing 5 courses, dinner is accompanied by bond fire, breakfast is with views overlooking the crater lake and amazing sunrises Tents are very well spaced with contemporary and rustic design 10 mins walk to the crater salt lake, During the night the hippos, buffaloes, hyenas move freely Meals are 3-5 courses but with a
