Everywhere we stayed in Uganda was pretty magical, so for At the River to come top of the list is no mean feat. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer! Kerry, Jonathan and Bags could not have been more welcoming or helpful and the location of the lodge could not be more perfect. We were upgraded into a beautiful, ensuite family room, which had a little verandah with a view of the river. The bar/restaurant is incredible - sitting on stilts next to the river, you have a view to the monkeys in the trees on the other side and the birds flitting around. If you're lucky, Kerry and Jonathan will sit down with you for a beer and a good debate. Thanks to them both for recommending we try a rolex - it is indeed the perfect snack and hangover cure - and for generally being wonderful hosts. (NB, older reviews are from before their time - don't let them put you off!)

We landed here for one night only but our only regret is not to have been able to stay longer. The location is very good, close to QENP gate, the place is remote and next to a small river with all kinds of monkeys and birds passing by. The hosts were adorable and so warmful. Food was absolutely a highlight with tasty and well presented dishes. And all of it for a very decent price compared to the other lodges in Uganda. If you are planning to go to Ishasha sector, or passing by, make sure you stay @The River cause it really is a remarkable establishment.

We made a roadtrip through Uganda and chose @the River Ishasha as our stay to visit the tree climbing lions. When we arrived we were so warmly welcomed by Backs, Kerry and Jonathan which felt a bit like coming home. These people were so open, friendly and lovely that we spent the whole evening with them, talking about ugandan and African Lifestyle. The Accomodation is so beautiful, but you should Love nature. There are wooden houses directly at the River and in the Night you may can hear Leopards, Colobus Monkeys and Hippos (sometimes they visit the Camp). The Camp has a beautiful Garden and a nice Open Space with a nice view where you can sit, have breakfast/lunch/dinner or just a coffee or a beer. Here we had the best Food of our whole roadtrip. We would definitely recommend this warmhearted Place and if we are coming back to uganda one time we surely come back to @the River

Safari in Queen Elizabeth NP The Queen Elizabeth NP offers an exceptional variety of habitats and wildlife viewing. On this tour you will be able to observe tree climbing lions, elephants, buffalos and Uganda kobs. On a boat trip at Kazinga Channel you will see numerous water birds such as pelicans or herons.

Just before we arrived at @theriver our car broke down. The help from the management and staff of @theriver was the best that could happen to us at this bad day. The manager Kerrie and her husband Jonathan gave us the warmest welcome when arriving at the lodge. They were compassionate, generous and we were so lucky they helped us out in this unpleasant situation. Many many thanks for Kerrie, Jonathan and Bags who helped us with our car for hours and hours! We stayed in the beautiful 'Hippo' lodge. It was spacious, clean, with comfortable beds, a nice hot shower and lovely balcony overlooking the river. The accommodation also has a new chef. She is from a high class hotel. The food was delicious! I would absolutely recommend visiting this beautiful lodge with the most lovely and helpful management and staff! They do everything to make you feel as comfortable as possible. Thank you so much for everything! Teun & Danielle
