We loved Katara Lodge and particularly sleeping under the stars with a rollout canopy bed! The views were fabulous and at night we could see fires in QENP. Service was exceptional and the food was great. We also enjoyed the pool. Great location; great hotel!

Katara Lodge sits on the escarpment overlooking Queen Elizabeth National Park. The views from the thatch-roofed cottages and the main open-air restaurant/bar area are endless. We watched elephants wandering across the plains while enjoying delicious food!

My adult children and I shared a cottage. It was beautifully unique, clean, and homey, though nothing like home regarding the views! The cottage has lots of screens, so you feel one with the elephants trumpeting down below in the QENP and the birds chirping....More

First of all, driving on the "paved" road from Queen Elizabeth National Park to Katara Lodge is difficult. The worse stretch of road is about 16 km long. The road is full of potholes and trying to avoid them is impossible. Riding on the gravel...More

We're toiletries like shampoo, conditioner, soap, and towels provided by the lodge?

Response from Katara | Property representative |
Yes, those are provided by the lodge.
Can two beds be rolled out to sleep "under the stars"? There are two of us ladies coming in about 2 weeks. Thank you.

Response from Katara | Property representative |
Sorry, no, there is only one star bed that can be rolled out. (Please make sure you are booked into a regular cottage and not the family cottage, which has two rooms but no star bed)
Good Morning I noticed from one of the reviews that elephants were seen from the room. Is that common? I hope so as we will be there in about 2 weeks.

Response from Katara | Property representative |
Good evening - elephants are a fairly regular sight. As you can see on our pictures, the lodge/cottages are on top of an escarpment, if you descent, there is about 100m of farmland before the park starts. So it is not up... More
