A luxury, eco-friendly camp located in Uganda's Queen Elizabeth National Park - famous for its tree climbing lions. It is an idyllic retreat for people who truly enjoy the wilderness. Being within the park the wildlife is free to also pass through the camp and elephants can be seen bathing in the river, buffalo enjoy grazing and resident troops of Black-and-White Colobus and vervet monkeys are frequently viewed.

What a fabulous three days: every time I looked around, there was something to catch my eye. On day one, elephants appeared at regular intervals along the river’s edge opposite my tent. We watched several elephants cross the river. Henry the Hippo entertained with his nocturnal honking. Buffalo wallowed in the cool waters during the heat of the day. Game drives in the National Park didn’t disappoint: two hyena along the track as we entered the park; giant forest hog; hundred elephants or more along Nyungwe river. One day I stayed at the camp to add to my bird list (the lodge has a bird list, plenty of reference books and staff who know their birds) while my friend went on a game drive and had up-close viewing of a leopard. I highly recommend staying three nights. (Book a sundowner on the ridge). You can’t beat waking early for the dawn chorus… (Morning tea or coffee brought to your room). Absolutely loved the campfire: the pre-dinner G and T, with plenty of ice and lemon, eating by candlelight overlooking the river, always connected with nature. Food was ridiculously good! And artistically presented. Enjoyed lively chats with all the staff, who are as passionate about every living thing as the guests who visit. Also highly recommended: Agartha’s taste of Uganda tour en route to Bwindi (near Kihihi town). Agartha is delightful. We spent half-an-hour watching how she grinds millet to prepare porridge for her family. It’s insightful and entertaining and directly supports women of the local community. Agartha’s can be booked through the lodge (to make sure she is ready for visitors).

Who doesn't want to sleep next to a grazing hippo? The sounds of the bush, hyeanas, hippos, again very butterflies and monkeys wandering around. The service was great, Wilton took great care of us. Davidson is a very good manager, attention is paid to the smallest details. Extra space is created in the mosquito net where the wheelchair can stand. It is actually not very wheelchair accessible, but it is made. The food is great, that cook deserves great praise with his team. Fantastic experience.

Even before we arrived at the Ishasha wilderness park our driver Moses spotted two lions lying on a thick tree branch overhanging the road. From then on there was no shortage of encounters with all sorts of animals - a huge herd of elephants, buffaloes, hippos, tree lions, a leopard, exotic birds, a hyena, wart hogs and several species of antelope. Ishasha as a location delivered the goods. The camp itself is perfectly located next to a river. The lodge is comfortable and the staff was super friendly and helpful. Of special mention is the food, which was prepared by two chefs in sparkling clean white uniforms. At night they usually light a camp fire, but unfortunately they could not do this during our stay due to the rain. However, on the second day our tour operator had arranged a "sundowner" in the field which was absolutely lovely. We drove to a scenic view of the vast gorge where we sat following the sunset while sipping mixed drinks and snacking on finger food. A portable toilet was even provided for our comfort. At Ishasha it is not permitted to off track without permission, and therefore it can be difficult to get close to some animals. It may be helpful to hire a park ranger to come along on the game drive since they may provide the permission if possible.

Stayed here for 2 nights and by far the best accomodation of our adventure! The "tent" was amazing with views of monkeys, baboons, elephant & hippo from our room #9. The lodge is cozy & comfortable with drinks & snacks always available and a beautiful setting on the river with a campfire each night. The lodge washrooms are a treat in themselves - both luxury & wilderness all in one! A large thermos of hot water is available beside the washroom sink and hot water is provided for the shower on 5 minutes notice. Breakfast and dinners were some of the best we've ever had - both at the lodge and the bush breakfast. This is a unique experience not be missed if you are visiting Queen Elizabeth National Park. Thank you again to everyone at Ishasha for going above & beyond with truly a unique experience!

Clean, well maintained lodge by the river. In the afternoon the elephants bathe in front of you in the river. In the evening Henry the Hippo comes to visit you. The staff is exceptionally accommodating. The kitchen is nice, there is also a good glass of wine. Between 7 and 7 (night) you can only come to the tent accompanied by the animals.

My husband and I are just back from a 2-night stay at Ishasha Wilderness Camp. The camp has a great location on a river bank, where we could enjoy the wildlife, especially in the morning and evening. The service is outstanding. We enjoyed a bush breakfast, complete with eggs cooked to order, and sundowners in a beautiful location. These were the best that we had on our entire trip! The food was excellent and our room was also very nice and private. All in all, a great stay.

Spent one night here as part of a 26-day Kenya/Rwanda/Uganda safari. Our tent (#7) was conveniently located near the restaurant/bar and like all tents faced the river. The tent was screened on three sides, which was good during the hot, summer month of August. The two fans in the tent helped cool it for sleeping. The staff was professional and friendly. A guide walked us to our tent after dark due to the nearby presence of hippos and other wildlife. The food was tasty, prepared-to-order. The camp was visited by wildlife during our short stay (e.g., hippos, a resident buffalo, waterbuck, colobus monkeys, many bird species, etc.).
My one concern about this camp was the abundance of gnats or similar small insects, particularly during the evening while trying to enjoy dinner. Perhaps the gnats are a seasonal issue. If not, will probably see a trend of comments on the pesky insects. However, seeing the tree-climbing lions made the pesky insects worth the trouble.

This camp is a gorgeous facility right along the Ishasha river, complete with a resident hippo named Henry! Cape buffalo, monkeys and Henry were all sighted right outside our tent. The staff were very attentive, the food was delicious (and the chef is wiling to share his recipes!) and the tents were luxurious. I didn’t want to leave.

Wow - what a wonderful location in the boundaries of Queen Elizabeth National Park (south). We stayed in a luxurious "tent" - with the biggest bed we've ever slept in.
The tent overlooked a calm following river, which had an island in the middle. Perfect for spotting the various bird life, as well as hearing the hippo's at night.
During darkness, all guests have to be escorted by security to and from the central dinning area/bar, to their tents because it was located inside the park, but for me, this added to the excitement, and opportunity to see more monkeys perhaps!
The food was delicious, and all the staff were brilliant.
Our tour operator, Speke Uganda Holidays, arranged a complimentary "Sun Downer", over looking the valley in the park, whilst we enjoyed 2-3 alcoholic drinks of our choice, to wash down the Indian snacks. It truly was a magical experience. I cannot recommend this highly enough
Just wished we could have stayed longer.

Such rustic luxury alongside the banks of a river where the buffalo come to wallow during the day. The permanent tents make you feel as if you are one with nature and the lack of fencing and the need for escort to your room incase you come across a hippo makes the experience even more real. We loved the bush showers and the effort that goes into maintaining that level of luxury so far away from main cities. The lodge is within Queen Elizabeth National Park which means that no time is wasted on driving to the park as you are right there. It really is a beautiful park with stunning views. The tree climbing lions were a special treat for us as was the large elephant herd we saw. Our trip was cut short due to Covid regulations changing back home but all staff were amazing in jumping into action to help us get back home as quickly as possible. Would 100% visit again!
