My husband and I were very pleased to stay at Rushaga Gorilla Camp, booked by our awesome guide at Rangeland Safaris. The road to the lodge was a bit scary (it was rainy, there were no guard rails and there were lots of bumps but by our return, that didn’t bother me anymore. This is just life in the bush!) From our first interaction with Dorothy at reception who welcomed us with fruit juice and hot towels to our dining room staff, Benjamin, who made sure we had what we needed (including our packed lunch for gorilla trekking), we had a warm feeling. As Americans, we wanted to learn about Africa and specifically, life in Uganda. Benjamin was patient with us and he answered all of our questions about the community where he lives. He is an excellent representative for the lodge and for his people. It’s not often that we leave a hotel wanting to take a photo with those who served us but in this case we did! We also took a picture with the dancers who provided us with entertainment two different nights and allowed for us to buy some of their handicraft. We found the rooms very comfortable and exceptionally clean but a bit noisy when the guests in the next room were there. Otherwise we woke with full belly’s from the buffet served the night before and unobstructed sunrises and birds chirping. We can’t wait to go back! Oh! And for some R&R, if you have time, go for an African massage with Justina. She was very good and didn’t require an appointment. It was first come-first serve, and that flexibility was nice as we didn’t know when we’d return from our trek.

Wonderful lodge with all the amenities located near one of the prime gorilla tracking areas. Super friendly staff and good food, especially accommodating to vegetarians. Has a small gym with an amazing view of the Impenetrable Forest and the surrounding hills. Due to the geography, getting to and from bungalows requires a lot of stairs, but odds are you came here to hike up and down hills anyway. Massage available if needed.

This is a nice lodge located about 5-10 drive to the Rushaga sector entrance of the Bwindi forest. **Note that the property is rather sprawling and there are a lot of stairs involved in getting around from some rooms. People with mobility issues should discuss this with their tour operator prior to booking.** The property is surrounded by forest so wile visiting nature lovers, and particularly birders should keep a pair of binoculars handy. The rooms are clean and well supplied, but one downside is that connected rooms offer almost no sound insulation from your connected neighbour. The restaurant food is good and plentiful, and the restaurant staff are very polite and attentive. Free WiFi is available at the office. It is stable, but slow. The room for improvement I refer to in the title is based on the fact that while the restaurant staff is good the rest of the staff perform their duties in a rather perfunctory manner, and the rooms are in need of a good maintenance/repair program. The things that need repair are about as plentiful as those in working order.

I stayed 2 nights in this camp. I enjoyed it. Staff was very friendly, food really good and the most nice thing was the bottle with warm water in the bed every night to keep it warm. Thanks to whole Rushaga Team to make my stay so special
