#1 of 9 hotels in Kisoro
Travellers' Rest is an excellent place for tourists visiting the endangered mountain gorilla in Southwest Uganda. The hotel, built in a somewhat colonial style, has ten rooms and one suite at reasonable prices. The garden is home to many birds, and in the evenings, when it gets cooler, visitors can warm themselves at the fireplace in the lounge. In the restaurant every evening a fine 4 course dinner is served. "Gorillas in the Mist" researcher Dian Fossey stayed here many times, calling it her "second home". The hotels offers a massage-service, perfect after a long gorilla trekking.

This is a super cute hotel in a great location for Gorilla Trekking. The gardens in the center of the hotel are well manicured and very cute, the bar area has a fireplace for chilly afternoons or evenings and plenty of seating outdoors. The staff was very helpful and welcoming and the food was very good. There is wifi available in common areas but it can be quite slow at times. The power has a tendency to go on and off, but when it did go out it seemed to recovery quickly. A flashlight was handy just in case. The rooms are clean and beds comfortable although the walls are a bit thin and getting hot water for showers takes patience and can be tricky. All in all an enjoyable stay and would stay here again.

We had an unplanned stayover in Kisoro as we didn't like our planned stop so had to find somewhere to stay and came across Travellers rest. We had a pleasant room and landed u staying an extra night. Our room was great with plenty of hot water, wifi worked well in the communal area and we could choose a set menu or from the ala carte menu which was all delicious. Staff were helpful in advising activities to do and arranged for a guide to take us to a Coffee farm. on our last morning we finally had clear views of the volcanoes!

Spent 2 nights here recently as part of a Gorilla tour, as I didn’t pay for the room individually I can’t comment on value for money, however the whole tour was very expensive. The lodge itself is very old and run down, the rooms are a basic double bed with a wooden mattress and in terms of amenities you get 2 bars of white soap and that’s it. There is no hair dryer, no complimentary water, nothing. Also didn’t like how there was no top sheet as I didn’t feel the doona was clean enough to my standards. All the chairs and tables looked dusty and to be honest I didn’t want to touch anything. The saving grace of this place is it’s food. The food was much better than expected and actually really nice! All meals I ate were tasty and enjoyable. Wifi here is pretty much non existent, in my 2 day stint it worked at one dinner at thats it. I wouldn’t classify this as a lodge with wifi due to how poor it was. If I was to return I would stay elsewhere.

The food was actually good. The wifi here works every now and then. The only complaint is the room. The beds are uncomfortable and the shower is one of the worst I’ve seen and used. For a one night stay, I would say it be okay.
