The Lodge is in the southern sector of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, approximately 1793m above sea level, and where the habituated Rushaga, and Nkuringo gorilla groups are to be found as well as Mount Mgahinga National Park. With breathtaking views over Lake Mulehe there are many other activities on offer such as hiking in the Virungas, boat trips on Lake Mulehe or Lake Mutanda, village walks, forest walks and golden monkey trekking at Mgahinga NP. It has 11 comfortable, ensuite rooms each with private verandas and breathtaking panoramic views of both the lake and the mountains Muhabura, Mgahinga and Sabinyo. Offering a high level of service and great value for money, each room has an individual style which reflects the original African architecture. The guest areas are cosy and welcoming with an open fireplace for chilly nights and the lodge offers a massage service, bliss for tired muscles after a full days trekking.

This was my second visit to this lovely property owned by Churchill Safaris. We were not seeking Gorillas but simply needed a nice location in the area from where to explore further. Having been before there was no contest as to where to stay.
The welcome was very warm from Ezra, the manager, and all staff.
I was pleased to see further works had been done to the property since I was last there in December 2018 with a row of bungalows set in a terrace of three overlooking the lake. As we needed three rooms for our small party these proved an ideal choice for us as we could share teh views over the lake and the birdlife of which the lodge is very rich.
My cottage, the middle one was entered by its own small patio/verandah and ledt to a very spacious room indeed.
To the left were two large beds with a curtain of nets and bedside tables with lamps. The soft furnishings were of high quality and very nice designs.
To the right was a small writing desk, and two easy chairs and a table with ample storage to the rear.
A door led through to a large Bathroom with all the usual fittings in pristine condition. Both artificial and natural light lit the bathroom which enhanced the clean appearance.
The owners are to be commended on their attention to detail and the standard of decoration and design. A really homely place where I could spend some days.
Meals were served in the Restaurant area of the main building where there was also a lounge area and bar plus TV and Wiffy for those who must maintain links with their world whilst on holiday.
Food was to a very high standard and well presented by friendly staff. Breakfast consisted of the usual cereal and fruit etc., plus eggs etc., cooked fresh to order.
Tea and Coffee of course.
Outside the main building was an outdoor seating area where one could just relax and admire the views with Otters and Ospreys in the lake and a backcloth of the Virunga mountains. Excellent. I could stay for days here and not tire.

My husband and I stayed at Lake Mulehe Gorilla Lodge for three nights at the end of a fantastic 12 day trip around Uganda. When we arrived at the lodge all the lovely staff came out to greet us. The scenery around the lodge is breathtaking. I could sit and look at the view across the lake to the mountains all day long. When we arrived in reception the lovely lady chef came to speak to me straight away regarding my diet as my meals needs to be gluten free. The chef had done her research (she told me she had read up about coeliac disease), and the food which she prepared and cooked for me, making sure all utensils were clean so there was no cross contamination, were some of the most delicious meals I have ever tasted. I have never been treated so well, not even in the UK. Our room was very large and very comfortable. The bathroom was beautiful and spacious with lots of hot water. After we had settled in, a lovely young man, named John, asked us if we would like to go for a walk around the village. We walked through beautiful banana plantations and met some of the local children. We watched some boys playing football. Their ball was made with screwed-up plastic bags which were pushed into another plastic bag to make a round ball. Do take some footballs for the children - giving them a football really does make them smile. On our walk we also visited a gentleman and his family, and we helped him make banana wine! The Ugandans are very friendly and welcoming. We went gorilla trekking from the lodge, which was a very exciting and unforgettable experience. When we returned from our trek, the staff came to our room to fetch our boots to clean them! We have never been looked after so well as when we were at Lake Mulehe Gorilla Lodge, so much so that we would love to return there one day soon. It really is a very special place. We loved it!

The first thing that strikes you about this lodge is the fabulous views! I spent hours mesmerised by the views (evident from the number of photos taken!).
Please note: this property is not to be confused with another property with a similar sounding name. This property is Lake Mulehe 'Gorilla' Lodge - while the other property has a similar name with the word 'Safari' instead of 'Gorilla'.
Newly constructed, it is evident a lot of passion has gone into the building of this property. Built on a slope, the rooms are at different levels on the hillside. the common areas are in the middle of the slope. Hence, if you are allocated the furthermost cottages, be prepared for some 'training' exercises before your Gorilla tracking.
Rooms: quite decent with very good views. But would have loved it if they had thought a lot more on ventilation and lake views from inside the room (windows instead of walls in the right places)
Staff: Excellent to say the least! The cook (Jamila) was very passionate and this reflected in the quality and taste of the food!
Distance from Bwindi: Note that this property is quite a distance from the different park entry points of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. So, be prepared for at least an hour's journey to the Visitors centre to start your Gorilla tracking (also means start quite early!) We did not mind this - as the journey itself is quite scenic!
If you want a lodge near the visitor's centre (of the respective sectors), be prepared to pay more!
Two plus points: It is the most convenient if you are planning to go Gorilla tracking in Mgahinga. Again, if you are coming in to Bwindi from Rwanda only for the Gorilla tracking - this lodge location is actually quite suitable!

The rooms are very spacious, beautifully designed with an art of African style with two bathing options, a bath tub and a shower with hot water. Worry not of the cold weather as a warm water bottle awaits you in your bed.
this is the perfect lodge for your stay in kisoro be it for gorilla tracking, hiking Mt, Mgahinga, Sabinyo or even relaxation

We stayed for three nights in late December, during the pandemic and wanted to open with all the precautions which are being made for covid. You are greeting with warm water and soap for a through hand wash, followed by hand sanitizer. Every precaution is being taken to keep you safe. All the casitas have wonderful lake views and we enjoyed sunrise and sunset each night. The staff was marvelous - cleaning mud soaked shoes after our gorilla trek and looking after every detail. The food was wonderful - you had a couple of menu choices. The rooms themselves are amply furnished and have decks with comfortable loveseats. You can walk down to the lake and canoe. There is a nice dock with lounge chairs if you prefer to just hang out. They will also help you organize activities. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Beautiful complex with a fantastic view of Lake Mulehe and the Virunga volcanoes. The rooms are beautifully, individually and Africanly decorated. Everything is very clean and the rooms have a private terrace with a breathtaking panoramic view. The staff is very, very nice and accommodating.
The food and service in the restaurant are perfect. Thanks to the chef for the delicious food! In the restaurant there is a counter with free drinks such as coffee, tea and water. There are no plastic bottles in the rooms, but refillable metal bottles that are filled with drinking water.
We came back from gorilla trekking muddy because it had rained. Our hiking boots and dirty clothes were cleaned immediately. Thank you very much for that too!
My absolute favorite lodge in Uganda😊 Highly recommended, even for several days.

Lake Mulehe Gorilla Lodge is located in a breathtakingly beautiful location. The staff gave us a warm welcome and they made sure our stay was comfortable in every way. Clean and tidy and comfortable beds. The food is very good and well proportioned with three courses both for lunch and dinner. The view from the terrace outside our room was magical. No wifi in the room but very good connection in the restaurant and reception. The power is not always on so it was possible to charge phones and cameras in the room. But then the staff helped to charge at the reception. After the gorilla trekking, they took care of our muddy shoes and washed them. Very nice and friendly service in every way. We highly recommend this place!

Lake Mulehe gorilla lodge was really amazing. The staff is friendly, the food is absolutely delicious and the view is breath taking. Our highlight was the children from the town orphanage visiting the lodge and doing a small performance, teaching us how to dance like a local.
From here was our starting point for the gorilla trekking. The lodge is located close to the park entrance, which is very convenient, but you can also go for small hikes around the area and go kayaking on the lake beneath.
We will for sure visit again! Thank you for making our stay so pleasant 💗

The stay was really great, with local food, Church service on demand in the village and a very friendly staff. The beds and rooms are so cosy and comfortable. Really like the place and can fully recommend staying during your stay or Gorilla-trekking in Uganda.
