We booked in (myself and group of friends) for two nights at the Beyt al Salaam for the end of our Zanzibar adventure. On arrival, Juma was extremely friendly, welcoming and gave us the most wonderful first impression. We decided to make some changes/upgrades on arrival as we had two extra members joining our party unexpectedly. They were able to... More

I booked here based on the reviews on Tripadvisor but was quite disappointed. I think we probably got the worst room in the hotel. Our room was really small and very crammed, even though I had made a special request for a nice room. The vent in the bathroom did not work, the light did not work and the towel... More

Had a great experience in Beyt al Salaam during my stay in June. The staff were very friendly and approachable. I had to top up my sim card on my first night and it was very late, so the receptionist sent for someone to get me top up as I didn't know my way around. They organised all our excursions... More

We booked two nights in a standard room at Beyt al Salaam. Upon arrival, the manager, Djoumar, offered an upgrade at a discounted rate. The view out the third floor window over Kelele Square offered a nice view of the sea in the distance. The room was spacious and comfortable with a great bed and lovely seating area. We also... We came in for a one night stay at Stone Town and got a very attractive rate from the front desk who allowed us to chose the room we liked most. The room was quite spacious and well appointed. The fan and air-condition were both quite noisy and made it difficult to get a good nights sleep. Most annoying unfortunately... More

Stayed for 6 nights with my partner and young son. Booked the hotel as it stated on its Expedia page that it was family friendly had cot beds. On arrival, we found out that the hotel doesn't have any cot beds at all. They had put us in a tiny room which barely accommodated out luggage let alone ourselves. After... More

The location is ideal keeping in mind it is surrounded by the more expensive hotels in Stone town. It is has a nice boutique feel and each room has a different theme. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms facing the square are, in my opinion the best.

The location of the hotel is ideal. It is located within the centre of stone town and is close to the airport. The hotel is very basic. The rooms were also basic but did have ac and mosquito nets. However there were holes I the nets so we still got bitten. The staff are very friendly and the service is... More

Beyt Al Salaam is a very cozy and comfortable hotel. Also well-located, staying there allows you to easily access all interesting historical sites, restaurants, cafés and bars in Stone Town. It is also a 3-minute walk to a white-sandy beach. The staff is very warm and welcoming. The manager kindly hosted us in a very nice suite with a view... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
For those who want to experience the charm of a classic Zanzibar setting with a touch of ancient Arabian mystique, the place is Beyt Al Salaam, formerly known as Beyt Al Chai. This is an exquisite 10-room boutique hotel within a traditional Zanzibar house, built on 3 floors in what was once a tea house. Sitting only a few paces from the sea, the house is cool and breezy. On a typical day, guests relax in our beautifully appointed lounge and rooms overlooking a square filled with hibiscus and ancient tamarind trees - simultaneously feeling the pull of the mysterious Indian Ocean that lies just beyond the trees and soaking up the ambiance of this World Heritage Site only steps away from the shops, restaurants and attractions of contemporary Zanzibar. ... more   less
