Recently spent 4 days in Mbweni Ruins. The staff are all friendly and helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I believe the hotel is under-rated in Zanzibar at this time. Their service standards are high, and if there's any problem it is dealt with courteously promptly and efficiently. The food was excellent and they were very informative providing us...

My husband and I were accompanied by our daughter, partner and two children from Ireland. We stayed here in September 2014. We got a good inclusive rate for being residents. The hotel is located in lovely tropical grounds beside the ocean about twenty minutes out of Stonetown. The ruins add to the character of the place. We took the ferry...

We stayed here in late July 2014 for 3 nights for some R & R after a safari and climbing Kilimanjaro. The quiet beach location appealed - but not easy to find. The beach was good for sun bathing, less so for swimming but the pool compensated. Our room was in a rustic villa with balcony by the beach -...

We stayed here in July 2014. We had a minor hiccup at the time of reserving - which Dinish and Dolf were very proactive in addressing. A lovely place - pretty gardens and close to Stonetown. The manager Dolf was very attentive. We were able to use the shuttle to get there and its a short cab ride back -...

I stayed one week in Protea Mbweni Ruins Hotel. I read all the reviews and they helped me to set my expectations right. I found what I expected. People say that it is not the Protea standard, I can not judge this as I had no Protea experience before. They recently took the management (or bought) this hotel and they...

Really enjoyed our stay here, and staff went well byond the basics in looking after us. Arrived shattered after a much delayed flight, and without bags. Although it was 11pm and well after closing hours in the restaurant, there was no hesitation in providing a meal. The next morning arrangements were being made to take us to the local market...
