You get the sea view but can be loud at night. Rooms on the opposite side were quieter. Great historic building, the terrace was my favorite part. Very nice choice of food for breakfast that is enjoyed on the terrace. Very friendly staff.

At the Africa House Hotel, the service I received on my departure day was not only unparalleled by any hotel in my world travels, but it was a demonstration of human kindness that restored my faith in humanity. The morning of my departure, I had misplaced my passport. The kind shuttle driver that the staff had booked for me turned around to return me to the hotel where I could look for it. The two wonderful gentlemen at the front desk had someone else mind their post for nearly an entire hour, so that they could help me scour my belongings and hotel room in a frantic search. As I was ready to give up and crying in a hysterical panic over the possibility of not returning home, they lovingly calmed and comforted me, and brought me water (and breakfast!). Then, when I finally did locate the passport, they shared in my joy and did not show any annoyance or resentment towards my idiocy. Furthermore, these two men were aware that I had my cash stolen when I first arrived in Africa, and therefore, I was unable to tip them for their special attention. These amazing gestures seemed to be performed out of the goodness of their hearts. Whether or not this hotel is your dream place to lodge, please know that especially rare and good people work there. The staff at the Africa House Hotel will have a warm place in my heart forever.

This was our second stay to the charming hotel. It has very much remained the same and retained its historical charm and quirks. The rooms are a good size, with aircon. They are dated and the bath / shower leaked and flooded the room. The staff are very helpful and friendly, with communal areas also clean. The terrace is nice and food choice is also varied. On an evening they play music very loud though, so not for a nice quiet meal. The room on an evening was very loud and we struggled to sleep due to the loud music being played outside. It is a lovely place for a stop over, but would not recommend as somewhere to relax.

Came here on recommendation of friends, traditional and colonial decorations makes this an interesting place to visit ! The bar is up on the second floor and has a great vibe. The views over the gardens below and out to sea are fabulous :)
