It's a budget option, so don't expect much. There's water, there are mosquito nets and fans, the beds are comfy enough and eating your basic breakfast (toasts, jam, eggs, fruit) on the rooftop is a nice start of the day. Don't expect the receptionist to greet you with a smile and show to the most interesting places though:) All in... More

This guest house cost us approximately £7 per night. Breakfast was basic but adequate, lovely cups of tea served with breakfast. Rooms are basic but enough as we were out all day and evening. First impression of the place was miles away from luxury, however, you soon feel safe and at home here, basic but I will return. The staff... More

Perhaps more of a 3.5 rather than 4 rating, but the Flamingo Guest House was exactly what I was looking for during my stay in Stone Town. Cheap enough so that I could spend my money on good eating, trips etc., and clean and comfortable to a level which was satisfactory. A bonus for me was the breakfast, including fruit,... More

I know a lot of people who would run screaming on finding out that this place has shared bathrooms which are a small room with toilet and shower combined. In reality they weren't that bad and kept very clean. We at least had a sink in our room. Flamingo is a budget place so you can't expect too much. There... More

We had a room right up on the roof and could walk outside and see the rooftops and church spires. This place has a relaxed and friendly vibe, organises lots of cheap and good quality tours (prison island, spice tours, shuttle bus to beaches) and the location is a real drawcard. It's out of the super touristy area in the... More

Our group had a good experience at the Flamingo Guest House. The rooms are generally spacious but the rooms on the lower floors tend to be hotter because there is less of a breeze. All rooms have ceiling fans. The breakfast was quite good, fruit eggs bread and tea or coffee. The staff at the establishment were very accommodating for... More

This was probably the best hostel we stayed in for an entire month long trip through Kenya and Tanzania! We found beds for 17 of us with a few days notice, the manager was kind enough to pick all of us from the ferry port in a minibus for free and gave us a tour of Stonetown. The facilities were... Perfect place for those who want to get cheap and comfortable rooms. Simple breakfast is included in the price. B&B is close to anything and everything in Stone Town. I stayed there for one week and loved it. It was very peaceful, I got to meet a lot of new people, but also was left alone when needed.

Stayed at the Flamingo for two weeks and really liked it. Excellent breakfast every morning. Great quiet location within easy walking distance of many of the sites and restaurants. Very friendly and social crowd with great staff. Definitely ask to see the rooms before paying. Some are excellent (like those on the top floor), others are ok.

We stayed at the Flamingo for 10 days while diving. Simple but all that you need, especially for a backpacker's transit visit. THe breakfast is unexpectedly good! Especially for the price of 30,000 shillings per night. You won't be disapointed staying here for a good budget choice.
