Only a short stroll to town yet away enough from the buzzing noises you will enjoy a beautiful setting next to the ocean. The historic buildings of Serena Hotel contribute to a feeling of an exciting bygone era . The staff is so friendly and kind , a real pleasure , every bit of the hotel a sparkling and clean experience. The hotel manager Mr Uledi sorted out a problem we had with the taxi fare in an efficient and hospitality oriented way which left us with a very positive feeling about Serena . We were astounded how small a premium room for over 500 Dollar/ night was and solved the problem with storing our suitcases on the big balcony/ terrace . We had a lovely time at Serena . Thank you to all staff taking good care of guests.
It was superb experience, great location with excellent services, totally enjoyable stay, starting from day one til we checked out everything was top, in the heart of the old city and everything within walking distance, loved the ocean view.
We stayed at here for 3 nights to unwind after an exhausting week on safari. It was an accidental stay as our original hotel had got our booking wrong and we were moved to Hotel Serena. But it was the best ending to what could have been a very stressful situation. Nothing could be faulted. We loved staying here. The staff were attentive and friendly. The breakfast restaurant not only had an amazing view of the ocean but the choice was excellent. An ideal location for exploring Stonetown too. As 3 females travelling by ourselves, we went exploring in the evening and felt very safe. Thank you so much for making our trip to Stonetown, Zanzibar memorable. From Aysha, Imaan and Yusra
The Serena hotel is a lovely old world hotel that evokes an air of nostalgia for the early days on this island. The hotel is charming and the staff is very attentive. Our stay was enhanced by Amina who ensured us that we would be happy with our room and indeed we were. We had an ocean front room with a spacious balcony and a hammock. Watching the sunset from our balcony was absolutely amazing. Room 53 is a gem. The restaurant was top notch and such an elegant environment. The wait staff was so professional ensuring that each meal was served properly. The restaurant manager, Haiha (spelling) was very concerned that on one occasion there was a problem with my dinner, which I assured him it wasn’t. His concern was greatly appreciated. The doormen were absolutely helpful and attentive and ensured that were helped with baggage, information and directions that we needed. I believe Mussa was not working on the day that we checked out. Many thanks to him for his personal service. The location of this hotel is great and is walking distance to shopping, historical sights and many restaurants.…
This is an old, nicely restored hotel in the heart of Stonetown. The food was exceptional as were the views. As an older hotel, my bathroom vanity area was very small. The staff was very friendly and willing to help in any way.
Excellent location overlooking the ocean in stone town. Staff are absolutely fantastic and helpful. Chefs prepared us some fabulous vegetarian breakfasts. Only reason for a four star is the rooms are dated and need some TLC. The first room we were allocated had some issues but the lovely Zena soon moved us to a better room. I would like to point out the health and safety issues with the power points, other than that it was an amazing hotel, the pool was an added bonus. Cocktails weren’t brilliant but my brother said the local beer was great. I would like to thank all the team for looking after us as it was a truly memorable stay. Thank you and keep up the good work and hope to see you all soon.
Very average hotel upgraded to deluxe room which had amazing views but was very small. We also had a dining package which on the 2nd night they forgot and we had to order off the bar menu. Cleanliness was good and staff friendly.
What a great experience! First, the staff is wonderful, helpful and always upbeat; some of the best service I’ve experienced anywhere in the world. Rooms are well maintained and historic; if your looking for USB ports and 100’s of outlets this is not your hotel. If you are willing to enjoy spectacular ocean views, a wonderful pool area and relax this is the place!! Everything is within walking distance, restaurants, shops, historic places. Thanks to the doorman “Big” great guy and sets the tone for the hotel
Upon checking in, there was some confusion with our reservation. This was sorted out quickly by Mr Kurwa. Thereafter it was pure bliss. Extremely neat and clean hotel, friendly staff, awesome food. Ask Mr Suleiman at the front door for any help or directions. This is definitely the base from which to explore Stone Town.
