For Tanzanian standars, the place is good. Ambientation is great, the staff is kind of helpful (one of them didn't really speak english, other was a bit unpolite in the way he expressed, other one was nice and helpful), breakfast is very good. They should clean the toilets more often and fix the hot shower, because it doesn't always work.... More

Using booking.com we secured a twin room arrived at hotel to find a "large double bed" a mattress (if that is what one terms a mattress) was inserted in the room with continued utterances of "this is not my problem" from the staff The night was a disaster to say the least so if you have expectations of a hotel... Reading all the reviews about this place I had a very mixed feeling about it. On one hand the location is great and the oriental vibe this place dispays seems cozy in a moldy way. On the other hand, the staff, especially at the reception, seemed very eager to book your daily activities and wont let loose.

If you prefer to travel cheap and simple, you will be fine with this. Its not directly central so you need a taxi or have to do a walk to town. The Hotel is close to the fishmarket so the smell of fish is always around, otherwise I have to say the offer good and fresh fish menues. The Hotel... More

If you visit there in low-season, maybe there is not so much problem. It's just cheap hostel. But if you travel Zanzibar in mid or high searon, PLEASE, DON'T GO THERE. They always have over-booking. I mean, they make a reservation more than 1 group(not knowing each other) in 1 private room! And make a reservation more than 6 people... More

I have returned to the states and have time to finally complain about the Malindi Guest House. I arrived at their hotel at 7pm the night of my reservation to find out they were completely booked up despite my already having paid to reserve a room. Instead of trying to help me find another hotel, they were completely useless. They... More

Great spot tucked away in Stone Town. Walking distance to the market and also the night food market and lots of restaurants. Rooms were great and the fans put out some amazing air. The pictures everywhere were really cool and gave this place a really interesting vibe. Staff was really great and the roof lounge was a perfect spot to... More

I had already read a handful of bad reviews, yet somehow still ended up here. What a nightmare! There are so many other hostels that are wonderful and have a great feel and are way better value for their money. Go stay at Jumbo Guesthouse (20$/night) or Flamingo (15$/night with a rooftop and your own room), everything about them is... More

My sister and I stayed here in early February. This is my second time staying in stonetown and I will definitely be back to Malindi Guest House. The staff was amazing, rooms clean and I loved the recycled pieces throughout the place. The rooftop is such a great place to relax after a long hot day in Zanzibar. The Syrian... More
