Thumbs up for Mnazi! Ourfirst night in Stone Town, Zanzibar we stayed at Mnazi house. Truly great! Very kind staff who know what places to recommend to go eat. We had a double room with shared bath, which was fine. The beds are old antique style with musquito nets. And there is airconditioning and wifi in the lobby. When we...

Stone town has tonnes of accomodation options, all the cheap ones though are very hard to find, which is why this place is the better alternative in my opinion. Zanzibar town is tiny, so not being in the centre just means this hotel is still under a kilometre from the sea/stone town. Very reasonable rates. We took a single room...

Rooms were nice enough, but communal bathrooms were absolutely filthy and extremely smelly to the extent that they were entirely unusable. No toilet roll, the toilet seats were constantly wet and nothing was cleaned for the entire 3 days that we spent there. Breakfast was VERY slow, we had to ask for bread, tea and coffee, and had to stand...

No real communal area, wifi poor and the staff can't cope if they have more than 4 guests. Breakfast was slow n the didn't have anywhere for...

Pros: Location - slightly outside of the core but near Shangani which is a popular road for Westerners, Nice Staff - friendly and helpful, liked that they always knew my name, Free Airport pickup - driver was waiting at airport with a sign for the hotel even though flight was nearly 2 hours late from DAR. They helped us organise trips on the island, they made sure we get the best prices possible as it is quite easy to be tricked when you...
