Kholle House fact sheet:Services & Facilities:• Wi-Fi available• Outdoor swimming pool• Transport to/from airport if required at an additional charge. Zanzibar airport and Dar es Salaam airport – ferry dock• Island tours and sea activities assistance. Kholle House in the heart of Stone Town is an historical and authentic house build in 1860 which belonged to Princess Kholle. Sister of Sayyid Sultan bin Bargash and Princess Salme. The house has probably been there as a showcase from their crystal collection and porcelain. After the revolution in 1964 the house was confiscated and occupied by several families, this period caused severe damages in the house. Three years of restoration has brought us the pleasure to present our town beloved house, the work done in connection with historical monuments and in full respect with the construction methods in the time (coral rubble, lime, mangrove beams, marble…). With a noble and austere facade the building is typically Omani Arabic style while the garden has more Indo-Victorian fantasy rhythms. This style is featured on the covers of the old dispensary which faces Kholle House, that was restored by the Aga Khan Foundation.

I absolutely love this place. I've stayed here several times since it opened in 2012, and I'm never disappointed. There's something magical about the history of this place that has been beautifully preserved. And the service is top notch too!

Dear Guest, We are pleased with your overall appreciation of the House. Thank you. We take good note of your comments regarding room 11. These are things we keep on telling to our team. Precisely, as you duly mentioned it, there is a need to constantly repeat things to our staff. You might have been surprised by my way to talk to them - and I apologize if this disturbed you - but obviously management has to be adjusted to local habits and circumstances. One last word: our staff has very little turn over and they are quite happy in Kholle House. All the best.

Stayed 3 nights and loved our rooms, breakfast was ok , the main problem was constantly having to ask for things they had forgotten to get. Our evening meal was edible but needs a lot of work if they want to draw outside customers. Management were helpful and attentive.

Dear guests, Thank you very much for your overall very positive appreciation. We try our best to satisfy our guests' needs and we are aware that we cannot face right away all their requests. We are just ending a complete renewal of our menus and it might be the reason why you had the feeling our swahili fusion cuisine was not at its best. All the best,

Many thanks dear guests for your lovely comments. Princess Kholle's hideaway is a very special place and we are pleased that you could feel the difference. For sure, the House is located in the middle of the old city of Stone Town, so the city's busy life can be heard from time to time. We believe this is part of our genuine Swahili environment. Sincerely.
