I stayed with my girlfriend in August 2020 for 2 days and 2 nights in the Lake Manze Camp and it was simply perfect! The locations is stunning, the game drives were a bliss, the laid-back tents are very clean and comfortable, the food was excellent...we didn't expect such a quality in such a remote place. But the best of all was the friendly and professional Lake Manze team, specially James and Ali our guides, which were so friendly, had so much knowledge and love for the animals and nature...we learned so much! We can't imagine better guides and a better team! This place was the best experience we had in Tanzania...even better than the Serengeti. Thank you and hope to come back one day!
I visited here back in 2015 sorry for the delayed review. Lake manze left such an impression on me that 5 years later I am writing a review. To start, the food was exceptional and faultless and I cannot express this enough. The accommodation is more than comfortable, to have that level of luxury yet authenticity and also be in such close proximity to nature was a truly incredible experience. The staff are amazingly knowledgeable and friendly and our guide joeseph M was captivating yet hilarious and so genuine. But this all aside the thing that makes lake manze stand out is the wildlife and the sheer abundance and variety and yet it is all totally uninterrupted. It was rare for us to see another vehicle or people which nowadays is becoming increasing hard to come by. I was inspired by lake manze and I hope you will find it as rewarding of an experience as I did.…
I am an 11-year-old, who has never been on a Safari before and let me say, this was the best possible experience I could ever wish for! When we arrived at the airstrip we found our guide immediately and started off on our journey. Hemedi, our guide, immediately connected with us, providing good information and kind energy. He allowed us to stop frequently for pictures and answered all of our questions with a knowledgeable response. Our driver, Mhande, knew exactly how close to go to the animals, respecting their space but also allowing us to have a fabulous view of the animals. When we arrived at the camp, we were greeted by the managers, Shaun and Milli. Shaun immediately sat us down for a safety/information session. We then sat down for lunch, which was delicious. I was surprised at how good the quality of the food was, considering we were out in the bush. It was then that I realized that there were no other kids at the camp, but the staff, guides, and management were very good with children. We then got to go on a boat safari seeing hippos, crocodiles and magnificent birds. When we got back to our tents I was astounded to see beds for everyone in the family with towels folded into the shape of a swan (which was a nice touch). We slept very nicely that night and all the others. Also, the camp had been recently been experiencing flooding but the staff and management still did an amazing job. I did not have any flukes due to the flooding The next day we went on a full day Safari seeing so many beautiful animals, it was an amazing experience. Hemedi taught us so much and I felt like I really connected with him. It was so mystifying to see all of the animals in their natural habitat. But when I got back a was so tired I could not make it until dinner, and Shaun kindly got me a sandwich so I could go to sleep early. The next two days were very similar. But we some highlights included seeing wild dogs, elephants, and hyenas. And when we were finished, my brain was chock full of information. The day we left we, sadly, were not paired with Hemedi during our drive back to the airstrip. But Mhande dutifully stepped out of the car to set up the rain covers on the car. Which we gave him a round of applause for. Overall, the most amazing travel experience I have ever had and a great introduction to Safaris.…
A very comfortable, laid-back camp in a stunning setting. The hosts are doing everything to make sure their guests have a good time. Even though we were there in the middle of some seriously wet weather (camp was almost flooded) we had good game viewing (including Lion, Leopard, Wild Dogs), and birding was fantastic. The tents are very comfortable and private.
My son and me spent 4 days in Lake Manze. As said in the many reviews before it has been raining a lot lately and the waterlevel of the river and lake was a constant concern as the tents and dining area were now very close to the water. The tents were confortable and the candle light and parafin lamps made it very cosy. To take a shower (yes hot water!) outside with monkeys sitting on the roof of your tent is quite an experience, as is sitting on the Loo in the rain! The food was excellent and sitting around the table at night all together exchanging stories and experiences (without people looking on their phones) is very pleasant. Sleeping with the sounds of hippos , very loud frogs and God know what other animals that were lurking around was quite challenging at times , but were all part of the experience of total immersion in nature and it was lovely! Our trips by boat and by jeep were fantastic, the driver Mgoma was excellent in very challenging circumstances ( lots of deep mud) and the ranger Zacharias did his utmost to name all the birds we saw and look for animals we had not seen yet. Although we had to wade through the water a few times in order to get to breakfast (lucky we had beach shoes), Shaun always made sure that by the time we came back from our trip we had a new dry path to reach our tent . It was nice to see that everything was so green with the rains and the animals so healthy and plenty. Selous is a wonderful place and I would gladly come back or recommend Lake Manze Camp to friends and family. …
