We were surprised by our safari company with a finale stay after our 8 day safari. Super clean pool!happy staff. Peaceful in November. Private dinner pool side thanks to Abu our private safari chef. The room...wow, clean.hot water. Spacious. No neighboring buildings. A side road so it was peaceful. Comfy poolside chairs. We recommend an upper floor room. Room 15! Air conditioning. Plenty of room to tent camp if you like with sheltered cooking area. Nice bar also.A food shop of you forgot some food for camping AND walk 20 meters to a local fruit and vegie stand.
I spent 2 nights at Fanaka as a part of my safari. I stayed in a room in the main building, attached to the dining area. It was a little loud being so close to the kitchen and dining areas, but I was too tired to care. Room was quite small, but perfectly satisfactory. The water to my sink and shower were not turned on when I first arrived, but management got in on pretty quickly. Water pressure was painfully weak, but there was hot water. No fan or AC, so the room was a bit stuffy at night. There was also a lot of ants in the bathroom. Food was good, and the staff was very pleasant. Didn't see or use the pool.
Myself and friends stayed here for two nights whilst on safari. The property is gated and very safe to stay here. The rooms are beautifully clean with hot water for showers, my room had a balcony which was lovely. There was also a fan provided in my room. Free wifi was available. There is a pool which is very clean located in well kept gardens with sunbeds to chill out. There is an area near to the dining room with a small shop selling souvenirs should you want to buy them, the gentleman who owns the shop will negotiate on price! The dining area is lovely and clean, with very friendly helpful staff, food was good with plenty of choice. All the other staff were friendly and helpful. A great place to stay
We stayed at this campsite as it was included in our 4 day 3 night safari trip with African Traits. I cannot comment on the lodge part as we were in basic tents as part of our package. The campsite has 2 smaller "stores" where souvenirs could be bought. There was also a pool that seemed fairly well kept. There was a building with two sides for the female and male toilet and shower facilities... as always in Tanzania, bring your own soap and toilet paper! In terms of food, we had our own cook with our safari and we therefore had our own location to eat the dinner and breakfast that were included in our package. The campsite had several wifi locations and it worked fairly well. I would definitely recommend this campsite as a budget-friendly option.
Our family of 5 stayed in a family room at the Fanaka, which had 3 queen beds plus a toddler bed, as well as a full bathroom with shower. (Hot water worked perfectly fine for us, though I know others in different rooms weren't quite as lucky.) We were comfortable for our entire stay. There was an A/C unit in the room as well as a coffee pot, coffee, and bottled water. The pool was lovely and clean and a nice temperature. Our meals were perfect, the staff members were friendly. It was easy to buy bottled water here as we needed it. It's not a luxury stay by western standards, but we had everything we needed here and then some.
