After a change of ownership and major construction, this place has been transformed. Located in the picturesque Rustlers Valley, the lodge is great for chilling out. The hikes are great (and many are accessible for small children), the food in the lodge is amazing (dont miss the breakfast towers) and the polo club next door is worth a visit. The... More

My friend and I had booked to stay at Franshoek after looking at the web page. When we arrived, it looked like a construction site! According to the web page, the alterations were supposed to be finished - it is nowhere near. The room we were offered had bare cement walls, and the cement was still wet! It was also... More

This place has changed ownership in the last 2 years and it is living on its laurels. The owners were absent. They own a number of properties and it is certainly not "owner run" these days. Having said that, Japie...who actually runs the place, was very good. The food is very good and varied, but the quality of the accommodation is... More

Booked and paid 2.5 months in advance for family weekend. Dealt with the owner (Christine ) personally. 5 Days before the trip, she calls and blaming somebody else, tells us that she can't accommodate us! So much for eagerly anticipated weekend...

We stumbled upon this place and are so glad we found it. We stayed in a self-catering chalet which was very comfortable, well equipped with nice views. Relatives of the owners were filling in for the Easter holiday and they couldn't have been more accommodating and nice. The dinner and breakfast were excellent and served communal style in the main... More

We asked our agent to book accomodation near Fouriesburg or Ficksburg and did she find the spot!!!! We spent four wonderful days at this secluded spot in the mountains. The food was brilliant and I can honestly say we had the most unique and special breakfast we have ever seen. The people are friendly and hearty and make their own... More

The road to franshoek lodge winds its way through very beautiful scenery over a little brook, through a canopy of trees and eventually to this fun and quirky lodge. Its magical and beautiful setting is incredibly calming and peaceful. We enjoyed a tractor ride to the hole in the mountain and and some beautiful walks to the waterfall and cave.... More

The lodge is about 17 km from Ficksburg back in the direction of Fouriesburg, on a dirt road which is passable by normal car. The setting is lovely, and the lodge is quite old worldy in a strange way. The rooms have everything you need for a short stay, but are quite old and the bathroom of the unit we... More

Further to my previous review, I am sorry to say that the lodge is no longer dog friendly following a change of ownership. Unfortunately we weren't made aware of this before arriving on the 30th December planning to spend 3 nights there over New Year. The beauty of this lodge used to be that dogs were as welcome as people... More
