Ok so there is good and bad at this 3* hotel
Good:
Waiters, cleaners and ground maintenance staff were lovely, friendly and helpful, especially Swebass, and Elvis
The location was perfect, on the beach, sea was clear, apart from correl as you enter the water, watch your step.
The bad
Reception staff need a customer care course, not only through our own experience but others staying had received rude and aggressive behaviour from them
Rooms basic, need updating, we had 2 small cockroaches in our bathroom (hubby has a pest control company)
Rat appeared in dining room twice, staff tried to capture it, very poor pest control outside, sticky boards in tubes that are no longer sticky, rat just jumped over them. Large flying cockroaches in the dining room and small birds flying in (this can be stopped by putting mesh on the top open windows and a curtain the door)
Food was good but little choice of food, 2-3 main choices (usually chicken of fish in a sauce) with either rice, pasta ,roast potatoes or salad.
Drinks were local, beer, wine, brandy, whisky, vodka and gin, cocktails were basic, and set drinks were choice of coke, sprite, fruit juice or water.
Sunbeds were so uncomfortable, need need adjustable beds, these were fixed in place with wooden slats covered with a thin mattress ( we asked for a second mattress that the pool /, beach attendant supplied no problem)
Reception staff advise against the purchase of trips from the people on the beach - this was always the same guy, we booked with him after seeing him everyday ( he never harassed us) and seeing others book this was way cheaper that via the hotel. Had a great day on a speed boat, private hire, taken where and when we wanted to go.
The nighttime entrainment could have been better, had a couple of nights of local dancers entrainment guy sang on a couple of nights, followed by a disco, other than that just back ground music .
Only public toilets were outside behind the restaurant, to use when on the beach /, night time or when you are kicked out of your room at 12 md, until your night time flight.
We also used Mauritius taxi service for site seeing they were over 30 euros cheaper than the hotel and rep for the day, and again will cater the day to your needs / time.
Overall a great location, great waiter's and cleaning staff, only a 3* or less definitely not a 5* as some people suggested ( maybe they haven't stayed at a 5* before but every 5* hotel I have stayed at was luxurious and loads of food choices, including room service, butler service etc) you get what you pay for.

This three star hotel delivers all that it's website claims. The staff are friendly, professional and work extremely hard. Rooms are spacious and cleaned every day.
The food is good and offers a good variety to suit most tastes. They will always offer an alternative if there's nothing suitable on the menu.
Some contributors mention that it needs updating. Well it depends what you are looking for, style or substance! There are no fluffy towels or dressing gowns or numerous cushions on the bed. Paintwork is continually being refreshed and inside and out is clean and tidy. For us it's the location on a beautiful Sandy beach edging an aquamarine lagoon under (most of the time) a glorious blue sky. Stroll along the beach to find a small reef with an abundance of colourful fish. Enough to keep us amused twice a day for two weeks! Our fourth visit here and I suspect we will be back!

Room Tip: We prefer the upstairs garden rooms. Peaceful, cheaper, larger than the sea view rooms.

We arrived at the hotel on 24th May and were staying for 10 days. The hotel it's self is clean and the staff are approachable and helpful.
Food is good with a good selection and bar has a basic selection but satisfactory. Rooms are cleaned daily and they supply your room with fresh bottled water as needed and towels.
We hired a car for 3 days through the hotel and by ordering it through the hotel it reduces the cost of the excess significantly. For 3 days it worked out at approx £120 for tge hire, very cheap indeed.
Unfortunately, when we arrived the island was in the midst of a cyclone which is apparently very rare, we were just unlucky and because of the weather we were rather bored and spent a fair amount of time in our room when the weather wasn't great.
The hotel advise not to feed the birds and stray dogs but despite the advice, we found some people were feeding the dogs and annoyingly the birds fly around the restaurant area at breakfast and lunch times, the staff will promptly remove your plates when u are finished to not give the birds too much opportunity but they will still flock to any unattended plates. Because of the weather we didn't get to enjoy the water activities. There is a fair amount of coral on the beaches and we found them better to wear beach shoes and you are a lot less conscious of what is under your feet. At various points along the beach we did find a lot of bottle tops and rubbish, which was a shame but not directly by the hotel.
The entertainment is ok but gets a little repetitive at times.
Generally it was a pleasant stay.

We had an amazing holiday here. Our room was set in the most lush tropical garden and was huge with a king size bed, a sofa, table and chair and a dressing area. The shower was powerful and plenty of hot water. The room was clean and made up daily if required, with bottled water given daily. There was aircon included with no extra charge and a safe. The hotel has a pool area with gardens to sit in and is right on the beach. There are kayaks, pedalos, canoes and snorkelling equipment available to use free of charge and the staff are extremely safety conscious ensuring you wear a life jacket and only let you go out when/where it is safe. Having said all of that the staff really are the jewel in the crown. They are all extremely friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. I would like to especially thank Kavi in the restaurant. He ensured there was vegan food for us every single meal and went above and beyond to provide extra special meals and deserts for us. He must have had to work hard to do this every day of our 14 days. If anyone has dietary requirements, I trust this hotel would bend over backwards to cater for them. There was regular entertainment at night including traditional dancing and singing as well as more western stuff too. It’s difficult to comment on the food as we’re vegan but there seemed to be good choices and variety and the chef was always willing to make us something different. There was always plenty of food and drink with generous portions and no sense of cost cutting. On my husband’s birthday they even made a vegan birthday cake - we were well impressed! I’m not sure why this hotel only has 3 stars, we’d definitely go back. By the way Mauritius is everything you hope it will be, and more.

We are happy to recommend this hotel! The service is top notch - we have never in our life met such nice and competent staff, in every way. Everything was perfect! The hotel is located by a beautiful beach with white sand and clear water. The cleanliness of the hotel is at the highest level - the rooms, restaurant and hotel are very well cleaned every day. The food is delicious and beautifully served, every second day dinner is buffet or 4 courses from the menu (including dessert). The staff helps absolutely everything and cares about their guests. We recommend to everyone who wants to feel great and relax on vacation. It is worth to buy a room with a view of the ocean - you can hear the sound of the ocean, see beautiful view and we even managed to catch the pink sky once. The hotel is also in a great place as a base for exploring the island.

We were married here in 1998 & The Silver Beach Hotel will stay forever in our hearts. The Hotel was clean, welcoming & had amazing accommodation. The Mauritian culture embraces tolerance and this comes across with the people being really warm, gentle & friendly. We'd love to visit again so hopefully soon.

We had a fantastic week at the Silver Beach Hotel in May 2024. Travelled as a family including 2 elderly parents. Starting from Reception to Kitchen/Restaurant Staff to HouseKeeping everyone took great care of us. Firstly the reception staff, Vishal, Sanjiv and Salim made arrangements for a wheelchair for my elderly mother and also an appropriate room for her ease of stay. In the restaurant, Malini and Ziad looked after us very well and it was such a pleasure to be in the company of such positive people. The chef Randir really looked after our needs as being vegetarian we had choice in the buffet menus but somewhat limited. He would arrange a little extra food items for our table. Night entertainment was relatively quiet. The beach was beautiful. Will definitely come back.

This hotel is in the perfect location. Lovely gardens lead to white sandy beach, (the warmest sea) with plenty of sun beds & helpful staff who provide cushions for beds, parasols and beach towels. It is breezy most of the time but that is very warm & welcome. There is also snorkel equipment to use including kayaks. The hotel itself does need a little modernising in some places but is clean, comfortable and has bags of charm. It has beautiful gardens, well maintained. Food is plentiful & local. Fresh chicken, fish, steak all cooked fresh on a grill each lunch & evening on day rotations throughout the week. A large variety of salads which were all gorgeous with local spices & flavours. Hot food such as curry, stir fry’s and other food with a local influence too. All Buffett basis but no stress about when you eat or booking specially restaurants. All very relaxed and French red, white & rose was very acceptable. All local spirits used in cocktails & included in the package and although the cocktails could have been more memorable in the presentation stakes, they were pleasant enough. No silly plastic glasses which was a bonus, even in the garden.

We did a trip around the north of the island that was arranged by reception & was our own taxi driver who took us around, waited for us & provided local info. Had to pay cash at reception, but was fine & avoided a more expensive bus tour which was on offer from TUI at higher cost. Reception were extremely helpful & accommodating especially with check out day timings. We will definitely return. Just the relaxing week we needed. 😊

Hello, just to share a little advice, never take and pay for a trip/excursion organized by the hotel. They promis you a guide who will guide you and explain you everything but it is only a driver who would not say a single word during the trip because he doesnt know nothing. This is what they call a guide and let you pay for it! I was asking questions about the sites he drove us to but he said either " I dont know" or he said some wrong information. The price/value of the guidance service provided by the hotel is something to be avoided! But when you book the trip, they will promise you all what you want, so don't fall into this trap!
