+ : Nice location in Le Morne - very welcoming people- nice swimming pools - : Rooms are very old (urgent need to be refurbished - old bathroom with dark seals and equipments -baby bed dirty) - no hot water available, I have called the reception twice- their advice is to let water flows during 15 minutes at least…such an ineptness in today’s world with ecological concerns…even though water is not warm. This hotel is nicely located with nice people but certainly does not worth its price. We are here for 3 additional days but hopefully not more.

The evaluation of the Riu Creole hotel is very mixed, but in the end, I can hardly recommend it. It has undeniable pluses: the area around the hotel ( flora, views, mountains, beach) is in my opinion wonderful. The beach at the hotel is fantastic, and I went around most of the beaches on the island and have a comparison. If you are looking for a paradise island experience this is the place. But be careful, because despite the beautiful beach it is quite difficult to use it because of people on kayaks and surfing. Due to the fact that it is very windy here (usually) the hotel is a mecca for those who enjoy these sports. This makes that there are many people on the water and you can swim only in designated places (very small). So there is no option to snorkle because they would just smash you on the water. The pool is very good (the main one and the one for kids, because the second big one is very old and dilapidated). I rate the food at 4 out of 10. There is a lot of it, but the quality is relatively low, the dishes are recycled (that is, if you had tuna for dinner, you will find it at subsequent meals in salads and snacks). The food is geared towards the mass consumer, reheated, nothing is prepared on the spot. Wine is weak, drinks quite ok. Minibar is a joke. Replenished every 2 days, there are only soft drinks + 2 cans of beer. If you ask, for example, for wine for the room you will get a refusal (and if you have children, it is unlikely to sit late at night in the bar). Rooms are total disaster! As I mentioned common parts of the hotel are fine (except for e.g. toilets, which also look terrible). Unfortunately, the rooms are unacceptable. It is a real tragedy and I would assign them to 1-star category, not 4 as the hotel aspires to (wrongly). I am not exaggerating here even a bit. I asked the staff to change the room and show me other family rooms but they too were in an equally tragic condition. I am writing about family rooms, perhaps the standard ones are better. Family rooms are completely ruined. The bathtub has splintered, shower cabins are in deplorable condition (mold, dirt, taps can only be thrown away). The toilet has a mismatched board, everything wobbles and threatens to break off. It's all just very old, unusable. You wait up to 10 minutes for hot water from the tap. You have to turn on all the taps in the bathroom to get it to start flowing (the method of the gentleman from the technical service - very ecological). Air conditioning works in such a way that it is impossible to regulate it. Changing the temperature does not work so you either cool to the maximum or turn it off. I advise you to turn it off because I do not even want to know what is in the ventilation pipes. If we are already talking about ventilation, it is tragic. The humidity in the rooms is so high that in the toilet, corridor you can see water on the ceiling, dripping on your head. And I'm talking about a room that is ventilated because we opened the windows. I also saw spare mattresses (for extra beds) stored in lockers next to the rooms. You don't want to know what they look like covered in dirt and mold. For my own mental health, I decided not to check to see what the one in the room looked like. To summarize. If the rooms were thoroughly renovated, the plumbing replaced, just throw a grenade in them and build from scratch, it would be an otherworldly place. The environment is brilliant, the hotel garden is wonderful, the pool is cool, it could stay. The rooms, however, disqualify this resort. Be warned.

We stayed at Riu from 8/10 to 10/10. It was indeed a very good experience . The room was excellent as well as the food being served at the main restaurant. Thumb up to Olivier the bar manager and his team!!! They were always trying to satisfy our requests. Also an outstanding display from Ivans,Enzo, Stephanie and Grace of the entertainment team. Unforgettable moments!!! Will call back there for sure!!!

The hotel is operating a phased opening which is not openly advertised or communicated. Check before booking to avoid disappointment as only 1 restaurant and 2 bars are currently operating. There’s plenty of staff but low customer numbers. When checking in we were told we could book the a la carte restaurants 2 days in advance and issued with a list of facilities but it was not up to date nor is the website or RIU app. We found we could only eat in the buffet and the main bar and beach bar for drinks. The all inclusive drinks menu is good but quality of the spirits and mixers is low and only a couple of known brands are offered. The hotel itself has lovely pools, beach location and staff are very friendly but overall we were let down by lack of communication at the time of booking and checking in. We did raise the issue with reception but had no real explanation.

Be warned this hotel is operating on limited features . Upon check in you will be shown a form showing what’s open etc Then when you try and book a restaurant they tell you only the buffet is open! They have removed any options for snacks throughout the day and have a Very limited Bar option. If you think you are going to get top brands of alcohol you are in for a shock! Cinzano is the only one I recognise. If we’d known facilities were this limited I would not of booked . Please research ... Also you have to have two Tests when arrive Day 0&5 Thankfully free BUT they want to charge to test you prior to departing !!! Why??? When no need for a test to enter uk So disappointed
