My fiancé and I had lovely holiday here during October. We enjoyed our beachfront room with outdoor shower, it was so relaxing sitting on the balcony watching the birds and taking in the view across the Grand Baie. We hopped on the shuttle boat a couple of times to get a few supplies, which handy but be aware you need to get off on the beach. The food at this hotel is of a high standard and we looked forward to dinner nightly, we took the time to find some Mauritian delicacies and staff were very obliging in explaining different dishes. All the staff are helpful but you may find you need to ask for assistance occasionally. We found the bar a bit quiet, the room service and lunches were of a great standard and our room was always spotless. We dined on the Lady Lisbeth one evening and enjoyed great company, I do think that the dinner on there was perhaps the best we had.

During our stay we hired a little car from he hire company the top of the road, cheap and very laid back and it gave us the independence to drive all over. We visited a dog rescue and purchased vast amounts of food for them which were able to transport most easily. We also drove right into the capital to visit a museum with no bother at all, would recommend a car. It was a truly lovely relaxing holiday

What a fantastic place this is
I’m sat on my balcony writing this review
All I can say is faultless
Manisha helping us with our room - what a lovely lady.
The reception staff were brilliant, helpful at all times.
The lads sailing us over the bay superb
The guys on the bar again brilliant
Lastly but not least the food and food service staff, these people are absolutely fantastic. The food at this hotel is as good as anything we have had, and we have been fortunate where we have eaten around the world.
I highly recommend the lady lisbeth boat for an off shore dining experience.
I will recommend this place to anyone and I think the 1980’s hit by the Kane Gang
“ the closest thing to heaven “ sums 20 Degres Sud up perfectly.

We spent 3 nights at the hotel as a mini-break while in Mauritius, and it is easily the best hotel we have stayed at there. The food was delicious, the rooms are very well appointed, and the service is above average for Mauritius, although not up to the usual Relais & Châteaux standard.

A few examples of the lack of R&C standard: for the first couple of days, the bar was playing the same playlist on repeat, and nothing was done about it until we pointed that out to staff.
We also saw & heard staff arguing/bickering a lot during our stay, including managers admonishing staff. It doesn't even matter that most guests do not understand the local language, the tone of the conversation & shouting gives it away.
There is a general lack of attention to detail, and the bar staff has differing standards: the quality of your drink depended heavily on who the barperson was on the day.
The hotel doesn't have enough sunbeds for all the guests, so you can't enjoy the beach unless you get there very early.

The boat dinner was a very nice experience, although overpriced for what you get. We also did the sunset cruise, which was disappointing: the staff were completely disorganised, it actually seemed as if it was their first time doing this: simple things like having a corkscrew on board, completely forgetting about serving the snacks until we got back to the jetty, etc. We also found that none of the snacks were seafood-free, which we had requested as my wife is allergic to seafood.

Overall, compared to our previous hotel stays in MU, this is by far the best hotel on the island, and the absolute best part is that it is an adults-only hotel.

Hello Mr. Nakkiran, Greetings from sunny Mauritius! Thank you for your positive feedback and for recommending us. We are delighted to hear that you consider us the best hotel in Mauritius and that our cuisine, Lady Lisbeth, and our rooms met your expectations. I do thank you for bringing to my attention some issues of service on the Lady Lisbeth, rest assured that I have taken that with very high respect and will reinforce training so that this kind of issues does not happen again. It is important to get this kind of feedback as this service is far from my supervision, being on the middle of the sea. Regarding the availability of sunbeds, we understand your concern, the sunbeds are often claimed early due to their favorable location, which may create the impression of limited availability. We will surely find was to maximise the availability of our sunbeds. We look forward to the opportunity of welcoming you back soon and providing you with the authentic experience of a Relais & Châteaux standard. My best personal regards to you, Lindley Thomen, General Manager

Intimate hotel, nice view, friendly staff like Laval and his colleagues at the restaurant.
The restaurant is very good as well as breakfast. Well presented and sought-after dishes, large selection of wine with a beautiful cellar, bar with Denis very friendly with good cocktails. Very appreciable homemade snack with tea and coffee. The spa is great with Deena as a masseuse who was very professional. Hammam and sauna available. Spa pool very appreciable when there is a lot of wind on the beach side. Nice superior room with comfortable bedding, met 2 minor problems in the room that were solved immediately. Beautiful boat restaurant the Lisebeth that we did not try.
On the other hand, when you spend more than €5,000 for two for a week with the trips, you expect a certain level of services especially for a castle relay. Yet aesthetically, this hotel is aging and has been painted white all over on wood sometimes very damaged and unsanded. Our staircase to our room had rotten barrier stanchions and a very damaged floor. In the tea room, part of the tiles are not glued and there are no joints, yet the decoration is beautiful. The aquarium of the restaurant is beautiful, is very poorly maintained. We ate several times in front and had to look through the dirt of the glass to observe these beautiful fish. Cushions and stained seats at the bar chairs. Restaurant service has been extremely slow several times apparently due to lack of staff. Several à la carte dishes were unavailable throughout the week without any proposal for replacement. A menu proposed per night for half board with à la carte dishes with additional amounts to pay according to the dish, over a week it is redundant. Luckily it was very good. At the beach, several times the deckchairs were dirty with sand on them and the beach full of seaweed and plastic. Noisy staff towards the boats not to mention children who came to play on Sunday screaming on the pontoon and beach. Apparently staff children. The calm sought was not there. There is also no service at the beach bar, several times guests and I had to go to the pool to ask for food or drink. For us, this hotel is not worthy of a 5-star rating, let alone a chateau relay. We have made other hotels in Mauritius much better than that and yet they are not castle stopovers. Yet prestigious and quality distinction that I did not find in the 20 degrees south. Too bad because he could.

The small boutique hotel is characterized by its excellent location , the special charm with its differently designed rooms and the kindness and helpfulness of the staff both on arrival and throughout the stay. The hotel offers excellent food and a wine cellar with high quality standards. Particularly noteworthy is the great advice of the Sommilier, who is always helpful to the guests in the selection of wine due to his special knowledge and his very friendly nature. The guests appreciate this very much.
It is a special hotel where I felt extremely comfortable and which I will visit again in the near future.

This hotel is located in Grand Baie with beautiful views of the bay and the mountains a small sandy beach allowing easy access to the sea. Our room was large more like a suite, well furnished and very comfortable with a large private balcony overlooking the bay. Housekeeping was efficient friendly and of a high standard. We were on half board basis and the food was of the highest standard for both breakfast and dinner. There is a good room service menu or you can get lunch on the beach or by the pool. Breakfast was first class meaning we were rarely able to manage lunch. Dinner was a la carte witha generous allowance meaning you just paid for drinks. Beware wine was very expensive (the cheapest was £40.00) and this was the biggest downside. Service throughout was excellent while being friendly and warm. There are complementary activities including snorkelling which I did a couple of times being taken by boat to the reef.

A boutique hotel this is adults only and if you want to explore you need to hire a car or order a taxi. The hotel can arrange this but it is much cheaper to do it yourself. Overall a very good hotel peaceful relaxing and friendly.

A small boutique hotel, it might be unnoticeable from the outside, the inside containing 36 rooms with its delightful peacefulness & tranquility in lush tropical gardens.
You are made so welcome from all the staff, some have become good friends. We stayed in room 34 for 12 nights, arriving on Monday 9th September.
The staff are always so friendly yet professional.
Special mention to Oumesh (room Divisional manager), who always greeted us, we spoke on numerous occasions.
The concierge team- Micheal, friendly yet professional, gave us great knowledge on the local area & when asked suggested local speciality restaurants.
Isaaq, again so friendly & helpful, he would always acknowledge us on seeing us.
Also thank you to Jessica & Francesca for all their help.
Food & beverage - Lamal, competent, efficient & experienced, knowing our food preferences & allergies, very professional at his job.
The restaurant- food is excellent, plates are served with "Flair", tasting as good as they look. Special mention to the Patisserie chef, your deserts & afternoon tea gateaux's were the high-light of the kitchen in my opinion. (after tea served daily
4.00 - 5.00pm).
Denis, always with a smile & cheerful attitude, made us laugh so much, whilst doing his daily tasks with skill & expertise.
Make sure you book in advance the evening Gourmet cruise on Lady Lisbeth Yacht, with exceptional 5-6 course dishes, expertly served at your table by Denis our waiter. If you have a special occasion, Birthday, Anniversary or just a great evening, please note there is only availability for up to 8 persons per cruise, booking is a must.
Also special thanks to Lindley Thomen, who took special interest in making our holiday so special, your kindness & great customer service.
Nearly forgot Trevor your Water-taxi driver, so thoughtful, helpful & kind, always made our many trips to & forth to Grand Baie so memorable.
Would certainly recommend without hesitation this wonderful hotel.
Thank you for a Great Holiday.
Keith & Partner.

Very disappointed and do not recommend this place.
Pros:
Room I stayed was really good, comfy, nice view, and water pressure was great and hot. That's pretty much it.
Cons:
Way over priced. Bottle of water cost Rs325 ($10aud!!)
When you book for a half board or all inclusive, it states that the breakfast and dinner are inclusive, which is a LIE! You basically get a "credit" of Rs2250 per person to spend on your food. That means, when you order a la carte(the only option you have), you need to order the cheapest entree, main and dessert in order not to pay the excess amount.
I have never in my entire life stayed in a 5 star hotel that gave me a credit when it says included in the terms and conditions. You won't find any information about this on their website. I've only found out about this when i was at the restaurant and opened the menu. I've attached an image for you guys to see... food is also mediocre, nothing wow. Client next to me brought their own water bottle and wine because everything is so over priced at this place. Another client was complaining that she had stomach ache from the food and my food was dry and salty. When i told the manager about it, he said "ohh maybe your taste bud isn't used to this and everyone has a different taste bud" and to "redeem" themselves, all i got was a glass of wine and a mocktail.
Customer service is pretty bad - most staffs do not smile and no proper manners. There is 1 particular waiter who is horrible. There are a few staffs who are amazing but most of them are not...
For the price I paid, it wasn't worth it at all. Save yourself some money and find another place.
Lastly, if you're looking to swim in the ocean, find another place. It's a nice beach to chill on sand but not to swim. The location of this area is very windy and a bit rocky. The waves are quite strong and water cold.

Dear Mr, Greetings from The 20 Degres Sud, thank you for taking time to drop your feelings through the below comments. I really appreciate to get the feel of your experience and believe me that I will take good note of it to improve the level of service of the Resort. On another note, I cannot hold myself of explaining to you some aspect of your comments as it does not reflect the level of service and the quality of the food that you are criticizing. Regarding the price of our water bottle, you should have also mentioned that these waters are imported bottles and that we do have locally bottled water sold at Rs 150.00. I want to reassure you that we are completely in the range of price compared to other 5-star hotel. As for the credit conditions, this condition allows our guests to choose their menu from an extensive A La Carte and within this specific allocation. We also propose a daily special menu including the starter, main course and dessert which stays within the credit allowance. The aim of doing that is mainly to allow our guests to craft their own offering rather than being imposed a Half Board menu every night. Of course, we do have some dishes that are more expensive than others as they are made of high-end product, but it does not prevent the guests from choosing them and stay within the credit or pay the supplement if it gets over the credit limit. Our chef and his brigade always strive to be more and more creative day after day and saying that the food is mediocre is too much for a restaurant which is known by the high quality of its food. Please note that your situation is an uncommon case. Should we have known it during your diner, the chef would have been very responsive, and he would have certainly taken action to address your concern. We are however very attentive of every comment that we received from our guests, and this is why we took your comments concerning the level of salt in your dish with high respect and got back to you to better understand your comments, we even proposed you to reduce the amount of salt in your specific dishes and invited you for an aperitif to show you our level of concern. The team is trained to jump on every comment our guests make and try to do our upmost possibilities to solve and sort the issue to the expectations of the guests. I realize that our approach did not please you and that you even extended your issue to other guests. I take good note of the comment you attach to the attitude of the staff which is an isolated comment but believe me that I will be spending time on this aspect of your appreciation. You were unfortunately residing with us during the period where the island, even the south hemisphere, was under the influence of very strong waves and obviously strong winds, there were even an alert from the authorities to avoid swimming and sailing in the lagoon. Again, I do thank you for your comments but would appreciate a more honest review from your end. I do wish you a great end of Year 2023. My best personal regards to you. Lindley Thomen, General Manager.

This boutique hotel on the north of the Island is private with beach front rooms for those lucky enough to book one. Others have their own balconies with sun beds. The beach front rooms are only a few feet away from both the beach and the sea. The only downside is that there are not enough sun beds out for everyone. Also the room floors are painted with normal paint, not non slip so the shower area can be very slippery. We paid for a whole body massage at the spa and although good, be warned, its very expensive with other hotels charging half the amount.

On a wonderful ten day stay in Mauritius, we decided to leave the beauty and comfort of The Westin Turtle Bay and explore different parts of the island. Upon arrival at 20 Degrès Sud, we were escorted into a highly perfumed room. We immediately asked for a non-perfumed room since we both have lung issues. No problem, and they graciously took the diffusers out of another room and in we went. It still smelled so we went out and walked to town and came back three hours later. The room stunk of perfume. We smelled the curtains. They were drenched with this perfume so we put them outside. We slept with the doors open, but the disco across the bay was blasting music that kept us awake until dawn. After a sleepless night and a sick partner who literally had a relapse of asthma, and now bronchitis, we left. Turns out they spray the bedding, the blankets, the pillows and even the wood floorboards. We asked only for a refund of the second night ( we stayed the first so no expectation of refund there) and they refused. They offered to clean a room for us, but they were already supposed to have done that and now the damage was done. On a positive note, we found a fantastic restaurant called Onya on our walk. Highly recommend! The food and ambiance were fantastic. Also highly recommend The Westin Turtle Bay. Less expensive, more spacious, super comfortable and no perfumed rooms.

Responded Apr 9, 2023
Dear Mrs. Andie, Greetings from 20 Degrés Sud, we thank you for your honest review on your experience at our establishment. Our sincere apologies that our hotel was not up to your expectations. Please note that all the above-mentioned points have been discussed to avoid same situation. However, feedback on our rooms is generally very well rated and can reassure you that this remains an isolated case. Sadly, to read that you have left the hotel due to our perfume which was not to your liking. We were also unaware that both of you had lungs issues, needful would have been done earlier for you before the so said “damage was done”, our dedicated team always offer the best service to our lovely clients and did in fact offered another room to you and your husband which you kindly refused. We want to extend our sincere apologies for the noise coming from Grand Bay that is beyond our control since your doors were opened, we want to reassure you that authorities are often contacted by us when noise is too loud from the other side. We are however happy to read that you also had a blast in Mauritius with some positive note. Best regards, Lindley THOMEN – General Manager

Are there banks in Grand Baie? I never trust airport exchange banks!

We did not visit any banks but we did visit exchange "banks". One tip would be to have higher demonitation notes of the currency you are using to exchange to MauRuppes. Eg, £50 notes get a higher exchange than £20 etc.
